  1. Hey, Im looking to ride some where tommorrow afternoon/evening time but not quite sure where. Looking at Southampton, Bournmouth or Portsmouth area but will go anywhere in between but was thinking of Barton or Milford on Sea but will go to any where most people are riding so I am open to suggestions. Decided to ride the Woods near Verwood if the balance beams and thing are still there and then mabey go and ride Verwood after. I will be there with my brother if anyone wants to join use feel free. Cheers Oli
  2. Im over in Southampton but I have just finished college so can drive down and ride almost any time.
  3. A similar thing happened to me, it was due to the sprocket was slightly to big but Tarty managed to get me a better fitting sprocket and i have been running it for almost a year with the threads partially stripped like yours and have not had a problem. The sprocket im currently using is a trialtech sprocket which was the best fit but im also running trialtech crancks.
  4. Im also working saturday but up for riding Sunday somewhere.
  5. I am going to be riding Soton Saturday evening with a freind who rides a unicycle. We will be there around 6:30 at the Civic center if anyone wants to come join us. Oli
  6. Its a bit late but I am going to be riding southampton from 6. I will be at work till then but will be by the rocks near JJB just after 6 if anyone wants to come join me. Cheers Oli
  7. I am running an almost identical setup with: Echo TR ISIS 128mm BB Trialtech cranks 18t fixed front and 15t rear. I did have a problem with the sprocket rubbing the frame but that was with a 118mm BB and with my Echo 128mm BB it has plenty of clearence. Edit: the only thing that I can think of is that the Heatsink bash ring is thicker than most other setups, so it means the chain ring has to be run closer to the frame. I am also running a Rohloff and have not had any problems with it and without any halflinks.
  8. Not the best trailer showing just bails but there are some great riders and should be a great video
  9. The weather is looking better for Sunday so who is up for riding Southampton? Normal place and time, 11 at Spar. I will also be about saturday evening if anyone wants to join I will be by JJB rocks just after 6. Cheers Oli
  10. Is this ride Saturday or Sunday as I was going to make a new topic for riding Saturday evening but saw this one and did not want to make two topics for southampton rides on Saturday.
  11. Finally a good set of backings that have the counter sink in them to reduce the number spacers needed instead of making my own. Are the shafts on the LGV backings steel or aluminum?
  12. Just added some spots for southampton and should be able to put some more up soon.

    Spoke Pattern

Thanks for that Mark, I am currently running 3x on both sides and that is plenty strong enough but was think that it was a bit much. I think I will go for a 3x disc and radial on the other side and see how it goes.
  14. I am going to build a new front wheel but I am not sure what spoke pattern to go for. I am running a BB7 so it needs to be strong but looking at the wheels on Tarty they have a 3 cross disk side and straight on the other side and was woundering if it is strong enough. I would like to have it as light as possible but without giving up any rigidity. What do people think is the best pattern?
  15. The main part that I would recommend replacing is the rear brake pads but if you are just sratrting the standard pads will be fine but as soon as it starts to fail replace them for pads such as Rock CNC pads or TNN CRM pads. I have the Rock pads on a light grind but the CRM pads may be better on a smooth rim. Apart from that there are no other parts that need to be changed. You may find as you learn more about the sport you will find things that you will want to upgrade such as converting to single speed. There are a couple of things you should check on the bike as often as possible, first is the wheels to make sure that the cones are nice and tight as they tend to come loss with trials use and if they do they can cause a lot more damage due to the greater pressure put on the wheel than normal use. The other thing is the drive side chainstay is a lot thinner than the non drive side and those frames do tend to brake at this point but they can last a long time with heavy riding. It should be fine as you are just starting but if you find yourself doing large things just keep an eye on it for cracks. Apart from that it is a great bike you have there to learn on and you should have a lot of fun on it.
  16. When I had my phase the standard front disc was ok and would allow me to do basic front wheel moves but as soon as I tried to do a gap to front it would slip. Try beding in the disc before you go for a new disc by just dragging the brake going do a hill and then soak in water and then repeat this and it should get better than what you are saying. I did go to a BB7 and still have it on my current bike and it is the best. I went for the 203mm version and after beding it in I could not fault it, I would recomend going for the lager disc sizes due to this will give you better braking performance but try to aviod the 160mm on a stock due to it will not give you very good braking power. Hope this helps you out. Oli
  17. The best place to park is at the Odeon due to after 12 the parking is free of charge.
  18. Me and Nathan are going to be riding southampton tomorrow afternoon/evening. I should be out about 2 if anyone else wants to come then but if not I will be out at about half 3 when Nathan will be coming out. Meet at Spar as normal. Cheers Oli
  19. I can ride any day but not Wednesday, tuesday could be good.

    Gloves

That is the same size as what I have but my fingers and at the very top of the glove and the webbing on the glove is about 10-20mm of the webbing on my hand. I have tryed the XXL but they are to baggy and my hands move around to much in them.

    Gloves

I have been looking for some new gloves as my 661 comp gloves are falling apart. The problem that I have is that I have very thin but long fingers and so gloves tend to be to small and my fingers come out of the top of the gloves or they are to big and move about to much on my hands. If someone has had a similar problem and found some gloves that have longer fingers that would be great but any help would be good. Cheers Oli

    Brake Cable?

What is so special about about this cable outer because as far as I can see it is just that it is the larger 5mm but Shimano do a SLR brake cable that is 5mm. If not then your local Halfords can order it in and most bike shops can get it for you.
  23. Im a 20min ferry ride from Southampton but I am busy till after January.
  24. Sweet, I should be there about 11:30. See you all tomorrow.
  25. The Odeon Cinema has free parking I believe but I think it is only from 12 onwards.
