It won't matter which holes the spokes go in, apart from the fact that normally the offset of other rims help you decide how the best way to lace it up to make room at the valve is. :P

The offset just means that your spokes don't enter the rim at as steep an angle as a non offset rim, but the rim needs to be dished so the spokes on the drive side will be shorter.

Drill holes in all the points of the star (careful to avoid steerer) and basically turn it into a swiss cheese then try and drill it to pieces and it will hopefully drop out with a little bit of persuasion.

In theory the tyre should work better for trials if run the wrong way round, I think I could feel a difference when I changed it, but I'm not sure.
