Eagle Claw Or Try-All Stiky Rear Tyre? Edit: What Front Tyre?
Matt Vandart replied to cunny12345's topic in Trials Chat
If you are riding street, pick up a worn out try all sticky (the old one) for peanuts, its win for street. -
Ossum! Thanks dude. Gutted I was in the garden today digging up all the vegetables when the delivery dude came with my shit and f**ked off and left a card I'll have to wait till monday now Havn't been this excited about building a bike in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ( never with a trials bike :/ ) can't wait to actually go somewhere on a bike!

Ok, I'm pretty sure I can sort this out, my next question is: Do you think I am asking for trouble putting a V2 with a 183mm rotor on this bike in terms of frame crackage? Sorry, turns out its a 2012.
-
Havn't tried it yet waiting for discs to turn up.

Considered this.

I don't think anything concrete can be determined from this poll, Aener, unless of course the result becomes massively balanced towards one or the other. It is just a poll to see what the outcome of those questions is. I would have liked to have added the bit about laughs with friends but I took that as a given, I see no other way it could be. this decision was made to focus it more on the act of biking.

"Does riding make you happy, or does being good at riding make you happy?" I spotted that in that mental vid thread and thought that is a very good question so I made a poll. I thought of putting it in chit chat or the bike forum but decided as its a trials forum and I am talking about trials biking I would put it here. I added another question just to see a possible co-relation between different styles of trial riding. Feel free to discuss but please don't argue pointlessly My answer is riding makes me happy.

I agree, however post mount is better in terms of reaction and that. Seems it is going to be standard over the next couple of years. All the bike shops I have asked have been stumped also, same reaction, they think I am stupid and its ISO on the back
-
Ah but, the mounts don't look like that, they are post mount.

The frame is a giant Trance x 2011 I am running no discs atm because this is a new build. The discs I have are Hope V2's as described above. The standard bike runs a 160. The problem is you cant get a 160mm rotor for the V2. I cant use a different 160mm rotor as described (I think) the only other disc that would have a wide enough braking surface would be a mono trial rotor. Mono trial have a habit of not dealing with heat which I believe is caused by the rotor design. It seems you cannot buy Post mount to post mount + adaptors specifically for the rear, or I cant find any. I have measured the mounts position relative to the axle on both the front and the back. These measurements appear to be the same unless I have missed something obvious. I am going to try using a +20 FRONT post to post adaptor to see if it works.

Bamboo Bike Frames From Bme-Brano Meres Engineering

But very interesting non the less. I think it is a good idea, the vast majority of cyclists are leisure cyclist, just riding cycle tracks etc where weight isnt much of an issue. I think the green/carbon set will/should love this idea and rightly so. -
It's a post mount frame, this is the issue After a bit o basic measuring I rekon the post mount on the frame is in the same position relative to the axle as the post mount on the fork. This would be good. I did think of using other discs, I have some hope xc ones here, but the braking surface is too narrow V2 uses the same size pad as the mono trial, just different shape pad, big f**kers.
-
Ok I got Hope V2's and I am having problems with the rear rotor, seems you cant get a 160mm one. So how do I fit a 183mm rotor? Befaore anyone gets clever, there does not appear to be any post mount adaptors for increasing the rotor size for the rear.
-
On some other forums there is a whole section like chit chat/trials chat etc which is just for people to flame/slag/argue. In light of recent stuff (not just ross's thread), I rekon TF could really do with one o these.

I've had my warns ferages, for f**k all really but there you go, thems the rules.

I concur, vees are win, get some rockman cnc pads and yer onto a winner (as well as slic cable or those shimano outer on tarty bikes)

Watched the vid now, that was pretty cool. -
Just read this. Keep it clean as you said and it will be fine. People used to cut the tails of dogs like dobermans and jack russels themselves back in the day, I know it was when they were puppies but the point is the vet didnt do it. Also make sure the bandage is not too tight so that air can circualte but good enough to stop the ingress of dirt. Hows it looking now? I should imagine that if infection was going to set in it would have by now. Not a vet but have had dogs all my life, they are hard little buggers and usually everything works out fine. Poor thing I bet there was much yelping and horror?

Yes but why do mono trials deal with this heat worse than other designs?
