Oil/lube makes it quieter. Think about it... the more lubrication it has in it the more cushion the pawls will get when they flick over the ratchets (if you get me). If you want it louder then remove all the oil . But, if you do this, remember to lube it up a little every 3 or 4 months or less to make sure everything is in working order! Cheers, Joe.

Yeah, in theory, it's a good idea but until you've experienced how excruciatingly off-putting the pain is you'll find you'd rather quit, altogether, than try and adjust ... My bars are only like 27" at the moment, so they are quite short as it is, so i doubt getting even shorter bars would do much! Still hoping for some more useful ideas... Cheers, Joe.
