  1. Who knows dude I think the issue is that there must be an element of compression otherwise it will blow out, especially on hardtails!
  2. Not sure if this works for private messages but if you navigate to the second page in a long thread you can edit the page in the navigation bar and on the end change 'page=2' to 'page=9999999' and unless the thread is longer than 9999999 pages you should be at the end.
  3. The big issue with these is when the post compresses at full height. This means the air cartridge is gapped from the stantion and long story short, is knackered. Every time we see this we claim under warranty and Fishers supply a brand new post. Awesome after care!
  4. Cheers for the spelling correction
  5. Tommy Emmanuel and Andy Mckay are worth looking at if you enjoyed this kind of thing. John Mayer is pretty 'pop' but still and amazing acoustic guitarist. Thanks for the video though, was enjoyable - although prob not quite deserving of its own topic But who cares. It's not like any kittens were harmed. edit: Justin King is worth a look too

MY CAT SMELLS LIKE CAT FOOD Seriously nice work man though. I'm not into tatoos but the detail on yours looks awesome.
  7. I'll do it at 15% vat seeing as its the credit crunch. Lots have things have changed on the forum in the time I've used it. I think ultimately though, as time goes on, tf is being passed on to a new generation and many of the older members have simply stopped posting. Either through finding new interests, frustration at the younger generation, or perhaps a combination of both? When you get older and you find out about dipping your wick, doing drugs, and riding bmx - trials forum simply isn't as much fun. Sarcasm aside (as nowadays I need to put that to ensure protection from Bens anal crew), the newer members are ultimately responsible for the content of the forum. How they choose to represent themselves and the sport is down to them. I strongly believe that we are in a rapidly changing sport though, as it develops and attracts wider audiences, the sport really has an opportunity to flourish. These aren't days of buying a 14" gt zaskar and sticking a set of p2's on the front with the best v brakes you can find, and a set of fsa power pro's. Infact I bet most newer members won't have a clue what I'm talking about. The reason for this is that the roots of the sport have rotted to an extent. I don't believe peoples values and perception of the sport is the same as it was and unfortunately this has led to a segregation within what should be a community. We need to learn to embrace the sport and encourage diversity within riding styles, and members of the community. Nowadays you can't post anything without being insulted or offended, and because of this the comical banter that made the forum such a good place to be has dissolved. I certainly don't post much at all nowadays, nor do I visit any other forums than chit chat and sm chat. I simply don't find the topics of conversation interesting. You can pretty much predict how a threads going to go by looking at the title. Either way, if I make this post much longer no one will read it. I hope people get where I'm coming from though and my sentimental ramblings have been worthwhile. James (ex trials rider)
  8. Eat healthy food thats low in fat (Buy one issue of mens fitness of whatever and they often have big guides to weekly eating routines) Run 3 times a week at maximum work rate for around 3 miles (aim for under 25 mins) depending on the elevation of course...Aim for a route with lots of variety though. Do 100 press ups, sit ups, pull ups a day (not hard if you break it into 5 sets of 20) Learn to skip and skip for 20 minutes solidly twice a day. Depends how extreme you go in all fairness, how fit you are already etc etc...lots of variables which would change the routine. edit: Didn't notice the ankle injury - change the running for cycling as others have already said. You're screwed for skipping...Why not just get the ankle sorted and go from there?

Subwoofers are run in mono so you will still be listening to a stereo field, and regardless of whether or not the best speakers have paper cones, this guy isn't looking to spend what it would cost to get decent sound quality out of a set up without a subwoofer, nor could he afford speakers which have that kind of frequency response using paper cones. I'll concede that some of the best speakers have had paper cones, but most are now kevlar or plastics, carbon etc. This guy probably doesn't have an entire collection of flac music either so I'm pretty sure £100 would be wasted on a dac, when most amps will do the job just fine. What qualifies you as an audiophile can I ask? No need to explain to me what 'Hi Fi' is, I already knew thank you. It wasn't the 685's I was thinking of getting, but I don't see what your beef is with them, most people seem over the moon with theirs.
  10. When I rode a lot of trials and really got into the scene there came a point where I was making lots of detailed and helpful posts on the forum which eventually led to sm'ship. Unfortunately, I now no longer ride trials or follow the scene at all, so unless something comes up about vw's, music tech, or bmx, I'm pretty useless haha! If you really desperately want to be a sm, consistently make helpful posts which are thoughtful and well written. Or send me a £15 payment through paypal and some noodz of your sisters James
  11. Annoyed to have missed this. Rest in Peace dude.
  12. Polo's are horrible, they handle shit and make a terrible base to put better vag engines in....In my experience they are much worse put together as a lot of them are spanish built so personally I'd just go for a mk2 golf.
  13. To the guy who asked if I bought a mac so I could have a go, the answer is no. I bought it beause they are cooler than pc's, and I am therefore cooler than you. Infact, that was sarcasm. I originally bought it to run Logic 8 on, as it's integral to my uni course and partly also to run Xcode. Thanks for the help guys.

Im not sure what your point about the audio output on a pc is, you'll get a decent source from most computers, as you would an mp3 player or most other audio hardware? I think it probably is worth getting a soundcard if you have properly shit on board sound but most pc's will be good enough that you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference with mp3's. As for not having a subwoofer, you're talking out of your arse - subwoofers are the shit and any audio setup worth its salt will have one, no doubt about it. Krisboats has made a good suggestion, building a system up from 2.1 would be a good halfway house.

If you arent watching films too often my advice would be to get a decent setup as mentioned and buy a second pair of bookshelf speakers (as most amps like the cambridge have a speaker b output) This way you'd be able to have 4 speakers running when you aren't sat centrally between 2, and when you are you can run it purely in stereo which would be best for music, as that's generally what basis music is produced to. Some music is mixed to 5.1 (dark side of the moon, some amon tobin stuff) but not enough for it to be worthwhile, especially if you're listening to mainly dance music. After a quick look at that 5.1 system it looks like nothing special, speaker cones look like a standard material, not kevlar, and the subwoofer, although active, looks quite underpowered. James

If you're listening to music mainly you'd be much better off getting a stereo amp and a subwoofer. If you're desperate for 5.1 then I can't really help - but wth £450 you could get a lush setup. Personally I have a Cambridge Audio amp, connected to a set of TDL KV1 speakers, with aMorduant Short subwoofer. Cost just under £450 overall with some top quality cabling and I've been pretty impressed. I might be changing the TDL's for a set of B&W's soon though as I've blown a driver on one of them most likely through banging out Drummo from my turntables through them. Everyday listening wouldn't have caused this though I doubt. I realise this particular setup is a little under what you have said you can spend, but its just to give you an idea of what I think works well. You can obviously spend a little more on each component, and my advice would be to go into a shop and have a listen to a few different sets of speakers, and see what you like. Bring in a cd of something you're familiar with (not a shit quality mp3!!!), and you should quickly find which systems fulfill your needs. If you can be a little more specific about the application I think people could possibly help a little more. James edit: Im retarded and missed you specifying 5.1, gah.
  17. Rest in peace Hobbsie. When I used to ride trials I had some great times with the guy and he'd always have me smiling. My condolences go out to his family. James
  18. Hey chaps. I've got a Mac and was basically wondering what my options are for web design. I don't mind buying a few books online to help me out but I'd like to know I'm not wasting my time, if there are better programs to use and such. I've some programming experience in c so don't mind getting a little technical if needs be. Thanks everyone James
  19. Go with crucial as the very first reply said. I bought 2gig's from there and it worked perfectly. No complaints at all. If you need a model no it should tell you in control panel>system. James
  20. Pete Wright needs to put the crack pipe down. Is he autistic?
  21. Can't believe Bristol hasnt come up yet. Can't be bothered to justify in detail but its regularly said that Bristol is the second capital of music after London. On the drinking front there are enough generic pubs/clubs selling cheap booze. You could even drop by the Apple where I work and get ratted on 8.4% cider. Classy.
  22. I've got over 150 gb of music....all paid for of course
  23. Shpongle Pinch Jeff Buckley The Mars Volta Tool Prefuse 73 Venetian Snares Amon Tobin Cujo Broken Social Scene Ryan Adams Just a few things off the top of my head from lots of different genres, which I've enjoyed.
