It could be, although it seams unlikely that it would creek due to being bashed as most the.time when your tyre slips off a wall it would smack the crank arm. If your cable is or almost has snapped then I strongely reccomend you change it! Mostly for safety reasons, if that snaps doing a gap to front for example it could hurt. It can also make your brake feel spongey. Hope this helps!

First i've ever heard about them pads being 'shite', so you must be doing something wrong. As i dont no your set-up, im going to say put a fresh grind and let them bed in. About your cranks, it could be down to a number of things. Check your crank is tight, and spray some kind of lubriacant in there to stop it creaking.

Wouldnt advise doing that mate. Soak it on somekind of lubriacant, TF2, 3in1 ect and re bleed it. The lazy piston should go.
