Sorry to pinch your thread here but i was going to buy the GU 09 after christmas but after reading the replies to your question im now having doubts are there any good pionts to be said about this bike (frame) as i might have to re consider . Not really into the whole geo thing as much as i should be so any advise on a frame or full buid for a 5 foot 8 12 stone rider in stock would be sweet ! Sorry for thread snatchin

I think if that was me i would go for the echo sl from tarty not to bad a price and never heard of bad words said against these ffw

Done it to my halo combat rim drilled 20mm holes with no weakness to the rim i suppose you can do it to most double skinned rims but get as much info as possible first as its not worth busting your face up for

Just one word really : AWESOME

Why not use a heat gun then some acetone or nail polish remover ??

looks to me that you can run this sprocket on those crank arms and with the hope pro 2 hub you may need a locking ring to fit with your bashgaurd and sprocket, making sure that everything aligns properly for sweet running run a 18:15 ratio

ive used kmc chains half link chains but in my opinion trailtec light are the way forward never had any snapages hardley any wear to the sprokets and runs smother than cheryl coles curves ! Go trialtec you wont regret it

Ah good just wanted to be the first to ride wih ugs on my feet think il raid the missus wardrobe later .UGS ARE THE WAY FORWARD !

Very very true discs are a lot stronger and can be that brutal it has know to snap frames. i started out with rim brakes on the rear and a disk on the front but after snapping a couple of discs I'm now going back to rim brakes all round (Magura) or (echo) .You cant really go wrong with hydraulic rim brakes on your bike .Easy to set up and i find them easier to bleed too .

Hi Tracey and welcome to the forum . There are many topics on what bike suits the rider on here so you could use the search fuction to help. One thing i would say though if your son has always riden bmx or 20" wheel size (MOD) stick with this as these bikes are easier to throw around and to learn on compared to the full 26"bikes (STOCK). The onza pro are a very well known and used bike on this forum and there should be plenty of people who will help you decide, depending on your bugget that is . Look out for the most two important factors when buying a good trials bike brakes/hubs. Good luck and hope this helps in time for SANTA HO HO HO !!!!

Just brought my old saracen mad 2003 back after it being away for a number of years i paid 170 for the bike. As for parts it had maggies (front) hope mini (rear) halo combat wheels so any thing under 200 sounds a steal to me just keep a good eye on the frame for cracks and it will be all good. Not to sure on the geo of the frame though sorry.

Yer was thinking of going to a four bolt system if poss Was going to cut the canti stud down and get this tacked/welded inside the mount (will fit i think) at work then re tapped to the correct thread then get new echo cnc brakes with clamps then get the mounts welded in place with the wheel in the chainstay to get the correct position for the brakes . Like i said just a thought as im looking into gettting a updated frame (zoo pirhana) so didnt mind giving it ago to see if it works out !

JUst stripped my frame down to bare metal used nitro varnish and laqure remover works a treat and only took me a day to do the whole bike now going for a new paint job this might help or might not but can recomend the nitro remover
-
close but no cigar i have the mount on the rear already for the maggie but wanted to weld another mount on the same side but futher up the frame so i can then use a set of brake clamps this will replace the need for the plastic arm that keeps the maggie from moving. my idea can be seen on any top new frame from tartys on the rear brake set up .the best example iv seen is on the new echo control frame but this has an all in one boster with brake clamp set up maybe im beeing dumd and not explaining it very well oppppppps

hi all ummm was just gonna ask for some advice. Ive just finished stripping my bike back to the bare metal and going for some fresh new paint. One idea i had was to take my old maggie mounts off my front forks and weld them to the rear upper chain stay to make a double brake clamp set up, but not having the brake clamps just yet has had me stalled, so i was just wondering if this has been done before to a frame and if it weakened it anyway and if anyone had the measurements for the brake clamps (over all length measurment) and the measurment from (hole centre to hole center) i think the clamps are all the same from tartys so im winging this and my fingers and toes are crossed hope iv explained this to the fullest but im guessing i havent coverd every question that will be asked and thanks for the info in advance peace !

echo cnc brakes in green orderd. And if that was me id be sending the echo sl brakes that you spoke about straight back to the shop that aint right havin to bleed every other day .Try and get some pics up of the bike when its all up and running. And one last thing no buying or selling in NMC . but thanks for the feed back guys and girls ?
-
thanks for all the feed back on the post guys much appreciated. think I'm definitely sticking with the frame choice that i had in mind for this build. The echo brakes look pimp but disappointed with the feedback on those guess IL search through tarty again and see whats what on the brake front. i run the old school Maggie's at the moment and never had any trouble with them so might stick with them but the newer version as they are tryed and tested brakes. As for the freewheel il stick with it unless anyone else has had a bad experience with it not a bad price to be far so cant be to shabby. I'm not liking the rockman crank arms to much but i will review my choice maybe looking into saving that extra bit more cash for some middle burn rs7 . One more little question though people WHEELS my choice on them are the the echo tr front and rear are these better and stronger than the try all wheels, as iv heard that the try all are a definitely a no go area. Thanks again 007

So guys need some advice on a new frame and parts for my new ride. after looking on tarty i quite like the look of the Zoo Piranha http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=14 . Has any one had any feed back from this nice looking frame that i should look out for before i spend my hard earned cash . As for parts im gonna stick with echo urban forks, echo cnc brakes, echo sl freewheel and so on . One thing im not so sure about is my crank chioce its the tensile UCI urban legand from tartys i havent heard to much said about these cranks on the forum. if anyone could advise me on my choice of parts and the frame this would help no end thanks guys !
