  1. sorry - more questions!!! 1) purely cosmetic, i cant make it out but are the hope levers (like the calipers) all black too?! 2) is there a limited supply of these being made? 3) found the bolt through conversion kits if you guys at tarty had the time to do some various assembly/dismantling work on various parts of the bike id of course be happy to pay...will discuss on the phone when i get round buying
  2. thats great, thanks mark
  3. quick couple of questions on the full build... 1) has the steerer already been cut? i run 40mm of stackers on a fourplay and would like to replicate this as much as possible 2) can a trialtech 128mm bb and middleburns (typical fourplay setup) easily be transfered onto it...and can the howitzers be put onto the fourplay without much hassle? 3) (to the tarty guys) if i asked really nicely, would anyone there be willing to dismantle the wheels and do the hope hub swap i mentioned in an earlier post? (putting the bolt through axles through my blue shells and putting the black shells onto my original standard axles) happy to pay obviously....with something as pricey as hubs i would feel much better someone doing it with the right tools and previous experience than me watching a youtube video and doing what i can with limit kit 4) is there a sticker set available like there used to be with the fourplay? i'll be stripping and repainting and it would be nice to have the skye graphic on it after...no biggy mind
  4. i thought it was a larger disc he ran too...i thought a bigger dic may help give that more instant bite/lock of the wheel between longer hops etc being someone who hasnt tried a rear disc on a 24" im unsure how it would feel compared to the hs33 im used to. if anyone knows of any topics that have been made where people (probs using the fourplay team?) have expressed their opinions on the feel of the rear, please let me know
  5. i think that will be the plan andrew... seems like the best option is to buy it, get all the parts swapped and sell off whats left over would trust alpine bikes more so than a few others up here so wil probs take it along to them and ask them to try to help. hope is always helpful too in my experience so thats maybe another option IF you were to not worry about voiding the warranty for the rear disc size, what is the largest size you could stick on with adapters? noticed hope do a nice 203mm rotor and thought th extra power may help...?
  6. Check the tarty website....go to the frame kit and see marks reply to the only question, its where i should have looked first "Hi Rob - If you buy the complete kit, you can remove the axles from the hubs that come with the kit and fit them to your existing hubs. The front hub is a fairly easy switch as it's just a case of pulling the end caps off and replacing them with the 20mm through-axle version, although the rear requires more dis-assembly of the hub. Thanks, Mark"
  7. of course there is a point i have hope pro2's, a headset and seatpost clamp...over £300 worth of stuff there that i dont need (and dont want in black as i have a blue kit) im aware that currently it can only be bought as that, im asking if there will be a version perhaps that comes as i stated
  8. is there any way to adapt the standard front/rear pro2's to make it fit? definately on the cards for this christmas! edit* (seen the tarty bikes question - first bit is answered) will there be a version without the headset/hubshells (like some of the pics on tarty)...just the axles to do a straight swap of components...?
  9. chers ali, that clears up that....i saw him do some pretty big stuff in the same areas i ride and the rear seemed to hold well...wish id asked him at the time
  10. Right, a few questions here...would appreciate answers to any of them! ride an older fourplay if thats any use to the answers 1. the pityful bolts that came with the tensile 4bolt have all either rounded or sheared a. removing a sheared bolt (its literally flush) from an hs33 mount, what is the best option for me here? b. the current bolts are 50mm (not 45mm as stated on tarty? - must be a newer model) any recommendations as to where to get decent steel/ti replacment bolts? c. if the answer to a) includes drilling out and re-threading with a thicker bolt (M5 i think?) i imagine that would make for a good strong clamp, how hard is it to get the perfect line of the thread? (ie perfectly perpendicular to the frame) 2. as my rear wheel is dished to the side by a good cm or so, and hs33 problems have been coming left right and centre recently i am seriously considering the use of a rear disc...(ie - the new skye frame) a. the new fourplays have been out for long enough now i think for enough people to have tried them, how is a rear disc for 'trials' type moves...gaps/sidehops etc? will i be nervous each time i land incase it slips?! b. i noticed danny in the vid at the hope factory is using a rim brake rather than the pretty large disc i saw on the rear in only june/july time...is this maybe a suggestion that even the larger disk isnt ticking all the boxes?! any advice on anyt of the above would be great...have been off the forum for a while and just focusing on riding so id be interested to hear how much has changed in even this short period of time! videos highlighting 2) would be appreciated and id be very interested to hear personal experiences of rear disc on a 24" fourplay
  11. looking to put videos up on facebook and youtube, seems each time i try i get told im infringing copyright laws...never used to happen, seems theyve caught on how does everyone else get around this?! any help would be appreciated!
  12. it is the magura hose that was available until the middle of last year
  13. I have the braided hose crossover & rear brake cable for the HS33 (the model before the new '11 one) The hose at the lever end started to leak so i needed to cut it off (shortening the hose a little) and refit the M8 fitting. I cant seem to remove the fitting at all? it appears to have a small allan key hole but it doesnt turn. Is this a permanent fitting on the braided hoses? I noticed the crossover cable has the same fitting (M8 on one side and M6 on the other) Is there anyone in a similar boat who has done a DIY job with an M8 fitting that is possible to fit onto the braided hose? thanks for any help chris
  14. just my 2cents... agree with what alot of people are saying here, just riding will be the most helpful thing in terms of building up specific fitness in completeing sections works all the muscles in the way you want them to work come the day of the comp (unsurprisingly) a good technique makes you alot more effcient, better that that just tiring yourself throwing the bike around a decent core always helps (and looks good for the ladies....) im just speaking as someone who is and has been super active for a few years now - 8+ runs a week, gym, sports, work and riding for a good few hours too. fitness wise im at my peak in most areas but id have problems completing a section 2mins+ long...attempting natural killed me in no time at all!! good luck with it all
  15. I dont think this is quite true: remember, if the test comes back initially as positive, there is a 9.1% chance that you ARE actually HIV + ...anyway, we now forget about the initial test and only deal with these 1098 (unfortunate people), the initial test result has no real effect on the second as the test remains the same and doesnt have a magical memory...its completely separate In this new scenario, 1098 people came back with a positive result...if they were to retake the test (its naturally only them who would be inclined to) we would be presented with this: 1098 on the island of "1st positive test results" (for want of a better name), but only 9.1% of the population have it (100 - as mentioned originally)...the rest of the maths is exactly the same as the first question The test to see if you are HIV positive is 99% accurate: For the 100 people who are positive, 99 of them will receive the accurate positive result (on average) For the 998 who are actually negative, the 1% inaccuracy still gives 9.8 people recieving a false positive result (giving them two positives in a row) TOTAL PEOPLE recieving double positive result = 109 (rounded up the 9.8) TOTAL PEOPLE who are actually positive = 100 chances that the second positive result = an ACTUAL positive = 100/109 = 92% (ish)
  16. Argh...i messed up on the basics in mine initially! 1% of 99900 = 99.9?! im claiming its the beers last night fault! its been edited...curious if its close
  17. The test to see if you are HIV positive is 99% accurate: For the 100 people who are positive, 99 of them will receive the accurate positive result (on average) Meaning if a person isn't HIV positive, 1% of the time the test will say they are For the 100,000 - 100 = 99,900 people who arent HIV positive, 999 of them will receieve an inaccurate positive result Total people recieving the positive result on the island = 99 + 999 = 1098 Total people who actually are postive on the island = 100 Chances that positive result actually constitutes as an actual HIV positive = 100/1098 = 0.091....etc that amounts to 9.1% rounded up?! The amount of accurate results the test itself gives = 99 + (99,000 - 999) = 98100 out of a possible 100,000 meaning the overall test accuracy is actually only 98.1% accurate? All guess work here...no idea if the logic is right

    This Guy

completely agree with the first part, its strange how h has some moves so dialled, yet seems to have the basic pedal pick looking pretty 'forced'? though using inspired to get views? not quite sure on that...ive searched a number of times for 'inspired' in youtube for exactly that - to watch other people on an inspired/see links to other street 24"

unbelieveable riding! definately one of those ones to watch before a ride to motivate on that note, can anyone pm me with how to save vimeo videos? i use savevid for youtube but it doesnt seem to work....building up a mini collection to get me in the mood when im toiling on a ride!
  20. im not the smoothest of riders...could be less than 6months! if it does before i replace it, is it likely (or is there any chance at all) to ruin the bb shell?
  21. hurray...was a tad disappointed when i thought the team rims only came in white, think ive found my new set on a side note, surely the atomlabs are an ok choice aswell? attitude bikes tend to use them on a alot of their custom 24" builds, aswell as the other obvious rider...
  22. ive no idea how either...but its been a year and a half of riding so that may be normal? the slight movement allows the pedal to move towards/away from the frame a couple of mm, its like one side of whatever is holding the axle has worn....im not sure how the whole thing fits together but its the crank equivalent of having a loose headset
  23. Riding an inspired and the bb (trialtech 128mm i think?) is pretty much on its way out...you can slightly move the cranks from side to side and theres a bit of a dodgy noise coming from it too as a result im looking to get a new BB, stronger the better....wonder if anyone had any recommendations? price isnt really an issue and id be using it with a set of middleburns anyone had experience with Raceface, FSA or truative BB's? (looking on chain reaction) or should i stick to the selection on tarty? like this (FSA Platinum Pro DH): http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=5593 also...is there any way to use external cups (like the hope ones) and an bolt through ISIS type axle if such a thing exists? thanks for any inputs guys and girls
  24. also...brings about almost a nature/nurture debate in terms of sporting elitism (where it seems YOU are clearly going for) what makes you so sure you have chosen the activities that the lad has the best potential in? its not like you seem to provide many open opportunities in any other areas...will he not realise his full potential unless he starts off at such a young age? how are you going to feel if his potential peaks at a relatively low level? perhaps he wont have the frame of type of body/muscle buildup to perform to the same level of the pro riders? perhaps he has the potential to become a world class endurance athlete or some other unrelated sport? yes...obviously alot (but NOT all!) sportsmen and women have started thier activity from a very young age, but i think you fail in grasping the vast number who started at a young age got nowhere. on another note, those people will have started in the majority of cases through an inherent enjoyment from that particular activity. receive encouragement yes, but you are a father and not a coach. a coach is an additional person, there at the desired request of the person playing the sport etc
