Remove the freehub mechanism and screw the adaptor on in its place,so for instance turn a 9 speed hub into single speed with a freewheel. Sorry for any confusion But the idea is to avoid the cost implication.as i remember shimano freehubs simply screwed into the hubshell, all mechanical aspects were contained within the freehub mechanism so what i'm suggesting would merely screw into the hub just like a freehub unit and then you would screw on your freewheel to the converter, all tension would tighthen everything so wouldn't come loose and the parts are still being used in the way they were designed for

I've been thinking today, when I first got into trials, about ten years ago so its a bit different as bikes/parts weren't so available = costly , one of the first and most expensive upgrades I wanted to make to my bike was the rear wheel as the freehub was a cheap shimano one and learning some of the techniques seemed hard as the lack of engagement, 12 points if i remember rightly, meant any fine movements were more difficult. I have a friend learning now with a cheap hub on a saracen and even kick hops were awkward in comparison to my bike which at the time only had an acs claw on it, 36 points. So i was wondering if anyone is aware of a product that can screw on to a hub in replacement a shimano freehub mechanism as, correct me if i'm wrong, the whole unit unscrews with a 10mm allen key with the axle running through? In turn you would then screw your freewheel or sprocket on to the attachment??? The benefits of this being that I should think for £50 or less you could dramatically improve the performance of the rear wheel, to buy a single speed hub, say a dmr revolver is £30 or so, £35+ for a decent trials freewheel and the cost of the wheel build (£35 for a decent build inc spokes) so what i'm suggesting is half price at the most, keeps the wheelset the same so the appearance of the bike is not effected and the performance is much improved? So good idea or bad idea? Please fill in the poll as if there is enough interest I'm going to get a prototype made! Thanks

managed to get it professionally turned, it looks very shiny which is good as I can see the reflection of my smiley face as the guy did it as a favour!

Agreed,i'm just starting again and wanted something of seasonale quality and have managed to get a koxx levelboss 1065 spec with bits almost entirely from the forum for no more than 250,probably much less. Its all a bit scratched and the frame is fairly old but its all quality stuff that's cheap so if i dont get back into it i'll not lose much if any money.get it all on here, either in bits or as a whole bike.if you see a bargain you can contact the person by clicking there name and posting on their wall like facebook.not sure if i should say that? But dont buy an expensive now frame to start out, you'll either worry to much about scratching it so wont try stuff or will get so naffed off you'll wish you'd bought cheap til you were better!

I wasn't throwing my toys out but what you have been saying accussing me of being uneducated pissed me right off as this is a subject i have strong views on.I'm man enough to apologise and say I think I have misinterpreted some of your posts. The way I read it is that you were one of these people who talk about something from the outside, the types that freely argue that there is nothing wrong with what happened yesterday and that everythings ok with it. I'm all for helping people in need, i do it for a living, but when people of a section of society frequently do things to massivley piss people off that are having to accept them is an absolute liberty. The big problem with things like this on a forum is that a lot can be lost in translation as its faceless and you cant read someones face as well as the text.

There you go again being presumptious, I've sponsored several people fundraising for forces related charities and currently trying to arrange with several friends a large scale event with money raised going to help for heroes. Try taking a f*cking breath and reading things. I think you got my point. That being that you seem to be sitting there telling people that they are wrong for being pissed off in a manner which seemed like you didn't understand why people would be so outraged at what happened yesterday. And having read your post above I'm even more puzzled at what you've been saying? There is no excuse for yesterday and I'm not someone will pass up credible oppurtunities to put my point across when it would be useful. If I had seen that I'd have said something or at least wanted to, but you know what I think would have happened, it would be me the police silenced, not the antagonists. Christ, we're all on the same side on here aren't we?

I think you have sent the hammer crashing down on the nails head.and jd people cant or dont do anything like you have accused krisboats of as if you speak out your branded some kind bnp racist hooligan. You can talk about it til the cows come home,it will never get heard as its not so extreme as we are now a country of people to worried about speaking out. I live near margate, a former popular seaside resort from year back.about fifteen year ago it started going down the toilet.it is an example of what immigration does to areas.its a total shit hole.i have watched it's decline as more foreigners were moved in year after year staying in the hotels that were once used by english families.you dont go there after dark now, seriously, its just to dangerous.but when people tried protesting it was all thrown out and you were talked about like your a racist!

Uneducated? Out of interest,do you know anyone that's served in any conflict? Or anyone effected by 9/11 or 7/7? I know several people who have and are serving in afghanistan, have you seen someone who has been seriously injured?have you seen families worry day after day about the safety of someone fighting a war against people who act in the name of religion? When you have maybe you'll wind your neck in with this high brow opinion you have to offer. Carry on going on about the past,it's gone, what's done is done, now matters and what i said i stand by,it's happening.

Why,did we go to rome and piss on the vatican or go to mecca and draw a big picture of a cock on it?no,about the worst i know is we drink to much, mildly piss people off and get arrested.we dont go to a country, have them pay for our living and accomodation and repeatedly disrespect them, this is the latest in a long list of vile acts, the protests in wooten basset were going to far, this is just disgraceful and as for all the do gooders on here saying this is bigoted and racist, when things like this are done in the name of religion then yeah, the whole lot will be considered, perhaps the muslim community should grow a pair and do something about it.and i agree with the guy who was bullied and suffered it to then hear its crap and made up because they play the race card.its cowardly.how about we stop worrying about people being offended because these people are taking the piss. If people dont like it,go back where you came from or else accept our way of life, your an uninvited guest who chose to come here,we've enough trouble of our own,we dont need yours to. Whilst i agree equality and fairness is important the balance isn't there, your average white male will always be considered last if there are similarly qualified ethnic people because the government put there ridiculous diversity targets on work forces and working in a government run organisation i'm plenty qualified to make this statement. This wasn't meant to be a rant so sorry if it sounds like one but people accusing someone of being a racist because they are angry at a group of people who happen to be muslim,a religion not native to this country, disrespect a tradition which must be nearly a hundred years old now which honours their friends and family who have suffered or died to protect us all,no matter how you look at it
-
F**k me.......holdng a grudge or what! assholes, its acts like tha that will t get the muslim kid beaten shitless on his way home from school tonight, it infuriates everyone
-
Because we let them......it so wrong. I'd love to see what would happen if I went into a mosque eating a bacon and sausage sandwich, wiping my feet on there prayer mats . On a more serious note, perhaps the british forces should stop respecting the religion they follow and blow the shit out of them when they are praying instead of stopping and booby trap the bodies of the fighters which must be buried within 24 hrs ( I think ) and see how that sits, but we wont as we are a nation of respectful people. This isn't a union jack draped skinhead saying this either, I'm just a normal bloke with several friends who have been or are currently serving, one of which lost both his legs as a result of an IED. It disgusts me that they have done this on the day that the country can show the familes that have lost and the servicemen and women who's lives have been irrepairably changed that we value and respect the job that only they can do.

Agreed, buying a loud freewheel just for the noise is akin to putting neons on your corsa that your nan drove before she died because they "look good", people will look but just think your a complete penis. I set up a thread regarding this http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=156885&st=0&p=2194855&fromsearch=1&#entry2194855 There's nothing wrong liking a loud freewheel, people in the thread said the noise is reassuring as if it sounds odd then somethings amiss and you sort it before it blows as you lay down the power for that big gap you've just got the balls to try. I personally like it for that reason but a silent freewheel and brakes............its just a dream which tortures me each night
-
I know, lookin into doing it posh, with work if you ask about a bit normally someone knows someone who can do just it for just about anything, should find out today if i can get it neatly turned down to 3mm thick! Cheers
-
Ali, obvious question, what are the top tips?!
-
bugger......ok, thanks, i'll look into it

Hi, some pics of the cranks showing the the thread depth i have to use and stuff, tarty says 7mm is enough on other tensile cranks, its 7 here i think, thread is 12mm and bashguard is 5 so 7 makes sense?
-
will do tomorrow, tis most dark at the far end of the garden!
-
sorry for long wait on reply, probably about 5 and a bit. Have measured the thread and that is 12mm deep, my uci ring is 5mm so therefore i'm figuring 7mm contact. The spline for removing is actually very very close to the crank so couldn't go on a great deal more anyway?
-
- contact http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xp8p4_evolve_sport Its there mate, sorry, wvolve is daily motion, the kenny belaey show is on vimeo, search that phrase and it will come up, not as much riding but still pretty interesting?
-
evolve and contact are both on vimeo mate
-
am i the only one or when it said riding in the garden did anyone else expect this vid to be a bit naff? Top effort with your "course"......nice style to

Hi About to fit the set up as said in title, question is, probably only 50% or so of the freewheel thread screws on to the crank as the bashguard limits it, are these cranks actually mod cranks so have a shallower thread? I bought them second hand so didn't have any fitting instructions or anything. Probably about 5 mm of thread screws on, is that enough? thanks
