  1. Hay oop lad, Just been mega busy and away from home alot so sorry re the photos. Kirkliston is just like cambusbarron but with some stuff in the trees as well. Kirkliston is west of Edinburgh. Big Disused Granite Quarry. Rab has been out there during the summer practicing. I missed the barn session last night as I was in Campbeltown working and they had been talking about a street ride but sort it out later. Good to catch up after xmas.
  2. Better watch guys where you go with this. HSE monitor all Forums and grapevine says that the first comp of the year on April 1st you will have to wear, Hi Viz suit with full body armour, steel toecap Ribos, goggles and approved gloves, ear defenders and a BS approved Hard hat. Any sections that leave the ground you will need to put on a fall arrest system or have a scaffold built with kick boards and tagged. Method statement and risk assesment for every section and Public liability insurance and Employers Liability if you have a minder/dad with you. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Now you know what to ask santa for!!
  3. Any body want to meet up around 28th for a show off what Santa gave you to ride. Suggest: Craigie Quarry at Kirkliston if the weathers okay.
  4. I will post up dates before end of year. Been working away from home alot and still a couple of weeks to go. I have been waiting for other championship dates so as not to clash as best I can. 5. We have a Barn over in East Lothian with Lights and a water tight roof. Still adding stuff to ride on. Usually just around six riders on a Tuesday evening. PM me if you are interested.
  6. Hi Mikes Bikes at Haddington always has a good selection of SH bikes and are always ready to go with no problems, unlike buying an Ebay special if you are concerned about having to fix things. If you are in Ayrshire then you have Bob Macgregor trials park to use. I run the Scottish trials club if you want to do comps next year, let me know. All levels caterd for.
  7. Hi Malcom, Kevin from the Scottish bike trials club. What i have seen here is a bunch of kids buy trials bikes from the local bike shop and it has gone from me running a couple of fun events in 2010 to a Scottish champoinship this year. Just as whats been said is that my two lads ride with their mates and sometimes with some of the expert riders. Riding with the expert riders, I always see an improvment as they see things getting riden and want to try it. I guess if you have no one around, videos are the next best way of improving. In the area there was nothing and it just took someone to stand up and organise a fun trial and the club has gone from there. My two practice in the garden and I have organised a huge barn to let the guys train through the winter. I have been involved with moto trials and Enduros since I was a kid and just love putting something back into a sport I love. We travelled a lot of miles this year to let the boys ride in some of the British champs and a few tyke trials as well. Even more next year. I guess in the States it will be a bit harder with your countries enthusiasim with MX and freeriding but it just takes someone to stand up and get something running and X games there you go!!! Aaron Duke has posted up some of his riding and it doesnt take long to improve from starter in 2010 to trying intermediate at the last Bitish round. They both won there Scottish groups this year. Find an local area and get some of his mates down set up some fun sections and share his bike with them. Thats what we did and then they will go get their own. Or come over for a Holiday around some of the events listed in the Bike trial federations web site. A few riders including Adam and Charlie do the European rounds and use the time as a holiday.
  8. Well you all missed a great day. No cycle trials was on as only a few new lads turned up but rode in the moto trial. Lots of fun and games after the trial ( the jousting was especially funny) and a huge bonfire with a massive firework display off the quarry wall. Great end to the year. I will be having a weekend with the BM team to redesign some of the quarry to have dedicated cycle trial sections. keep you posted. There will be a new artificial river section with loads of big rocks already placed into it. Roll on 2012.
  9. Just a fun day with some sections and fun things set out ie no comp unless you want to kep scores? All money to Bob Macgregor.
  10. Ta veery mooch. might go over Friday afternoon if work permits and weather is kind. If not Saturday morning. Only Aaron as Simon has done his ACL again.
  11. Thanks Lewis. Really busy again so not much time at the mo. Nobody else coming?
  12. Iain sent me a faceblank link but, because I dont want one I can't open it. I have em him to send something else. Milo come along pays yer money and have some fun on the day. Pay on the day to Bob macgregor trials academy when you sign in. Not 100% but £17 per adult, £13 per Junior and £5 for spectator. What this all includes I dont know yet. All funds go to the toilet block facility and a host of other improvments to make this the best trials venue in Britian.
  13. I had the call from Ian Shankie late yesterday to let me know about this. I will get more info from him and post up tonight. It will be run under their insurance for this event. I assume it will just be an entry fee to cover costs and put some money in the fund pot. Milo I will check today and post up tonight.
  14. Bike trials have been invited to help fund raise for on site facilities including toilet block. If there is enough coming I will set up sections on Saturday the 12th. There is a motorbike trial and fun events on all day. Evening BBQ and games with a Firework display as well. Welcome to camp on site and play the next day if anybody wants to. I will put up some challenges as well for some fun. suggestions: high jump, gap to point and speed section? This venue will be part of the future of trials, and we need to support this if we can and have some fun doing it. Please make the effort and we will see you there, bring a friend to try out trials, as I will see if I can get a couple of spare bikes.
  15. We tried and failed to get something in Haddington. The kids were on last warnings and asbos if they got talked to again. With the threat of getting their bikes taken of them. The police said they have to act if there was a complaint (but understood the situation for the kids) so far only warnings. The council ran me round in circles only to say no on health and saftey reasons (as expected) I was going to do everything all I needed was apeice of old park that they didnt keep care of. (they even suggested that I try a famer out of town and the kids could cycle on unlit back roads with the usual boy racers doing silly speeds. (which they do nothing about) Some health and saftey solution. ASSHOLES. We now have a £100k skate park going in which will be landscaped so they can use it as sections. This part is unofficial and not on the plans and my guess is it wont be allowed because they will use it for the dog walkers to let their mongrels shit all over it instead. I have heard as they dont or cant be bothered to understand trials, it isnt in their insurance system so they cant be bothered to do anything about it and therefore health and saftey is their get out clause. Mean while they are helping with raising £15k to get it started and as far as I know the bmx skate board kids do not alot. We now have a private indoor barn for them to practice with lights and an adult being present. Sorry to be a downer on your great plans but this was my experiance. Just aim to get some friendly yard/barn owner to give you permission and go for it. Inverness council might be more educated but!! We can only wish we live in Spain or the likes with a more educated government. Go for it you never know.
  16. Yup, already sent you a text. Will be in Leith if you need a lift, Rab can give you a lift back. We will be there around six. Phone me if you get lost?
  17. Nothing happening world trials at Nevis. Carlisle now. Downhill weekend should be trials weekend again. send you pics tommorrow once I find my camera lead.
  18. From a third of the Scottish invasion, thanks for a great weekend and to all the officials and observers. Best venue we have been to so far and the best sections for the boyz. Camped at the venue as security! but missed one section being trashed. (must have been the squirrels) Never heard the drive by abuse either all night or the sirens and police helicopters chasing the baddies) Hope to see some of you at a Scottish event next year and thanks to all who have made myself, Aaron and Simon so welcome in their first year of comps. See you all next year. Kevin
  19. Hi David. Yup, I saw that not long after I posted. No British at Kinlochleven either. Gary Mac mentioned there still maybe something at Fort William but we will need to wait and see. Once the British dates go up I will post up our dates. It will be good to see you at some more events.
  20. Big drops and they work as a parachute! We will have to be real scotsman and nothing underneath, should make interesting pic report for the ladies! Insurance for the wee Sgian Dubhs (Go for it?) might be more of a problem. See attachment for awards.
  21. Looking forward to an English invasion next year. Feel a War of the Roses type event next year? We had a broken ankle two events ago so we are prepared for you!!!!
  22. You coming down Saturday? Where are you staying? AJ coming as well?
  23. Sorry for the pat on the back at the trial on Sunday after. Eat pies and drink beer for the next few years then you would not have fell through the hole. You should come back to comps it doesnt hurt as much. Just joking! good to see you last Sunday. Kids are still talking about it. I didnt get a chance to thank Danny for presenting the awards after, so if you see him please pass on my thanks. Indoor one just for you again next year if I can get organised?
  24. Thanks for the replies. Just kipping in the van. Will just come to site on Saturday and give a hand setting out if you need.
