No and NO. It amazes me how dull some trials riders are towards disk brakes... I've been MTB ing for years... and disks just arnt that simple... the pad material is absorbent and metallic... a bad combo for oil. If you contaminate the pads badly then in most cases it's time for new pads... if it's not too bad then get some Isopropyl Alcohol and scrub them with it. Then bed them in again and they MAY be OK. More drastic methods of cleaning involve putting them in a dish of IPA and setting fire to them. Let it all burn away. Or put them in a oven at 200 deg C for 10 mins after a good scrub with IPA. Both of these methods are risky as they could melt the glue - UN-legit... And dont forget to clean your rotor. IPA and some wire wool or very fine sand paper is a good combo. Boiling water can do no harm, but wont do much good either... White spirit is full of all sorts of nasty oils and substances that will only increase the problem.

Hmmm... So, maggie to V adaptors - about £20 Lever £13 for a pair of FR5's on CRC (will check out sd7's as they sound good...) arms about £35-40 for the set Cables £10? Pads - standard utill I can get something better. so around £70 approxx. Not really gonna make or lose anything after selling maggies. I need a new booster too, whether I still with maggie or go to vee. What's the verdict people? My Maggies do look pretty sweet as they are the Ltd Ed. "GREEN" ones... so I would be very sad to see them go...

what would you say is the cheapest good set up... I like Avid FR5 levers... I've used them before.. but what are the cheapest arms that will really give good performance? What about pads? I presume the standard pads are not leggit?

I love my maggies... great feel, good power... but I'm a bit skint atm and I've always liked the feel of v's... If I sell my maggies I can afford a full brand new V set up (avid single diggits, fr5 levers...) with a little bash left over... but is it worth it? Will they offer the same performance? will they feel better? I do like the feel of v's... Pro's/Con's?

what about a 456/456 summer season? tough as hell, light enough for XC and a dead good bike for all sorts of stuff... the summer season can handle a bit of DH!!! would have to run a rear disk though...

it's designed for water sport's/sports involving alot of in and out of water stuff... not gonna be stiff/tough enough for trials.

what I wouldn't do to have access to a machine shop...

I just ride trials... I keep the geeky knowledge of pro's to the regular mtb... but someone like Jack Meek has done alot for UK trials in the past... as have the other, older, big trials names... they might not be the best visual riders... but they are awesome "ambassadors" (man I hate that word... lol) for the sport...

put a pic of the finished full carbon sleeve up when your done.... this whole project is pretty awesome.... what I wouldn't do to have access to a lathe....

I have a Giro Xen. Expensive. Awesome. I use it for XC and trials....

the antifreeze eats the rubber seals.... the oil helps keep it all lubed up and smooth... a tiny drop of fairy liquid holds it all together.

Haha! seriously though, just used the water/antifreeze/5wt suspension oil/fairy liquid mix, and its great, rode today, and its much better than Magura blood....

yp, did it on Saturday. Easy as pie. Wanna do it again though, I think it could be a little better....

I know, I know... there's a big review sticky, but I'm still confused.... Currently I'm still on maggy black's... they came with the brakes, and I'm too cheap to change them, but I'v decided enough is enough and I must change the back ones... Currently the front is smooth with a bit of tar, and I'm perfectly happy with that, and the back is lightly ground, really just a light texture, and I want to know what pad to run on that. Oh, and I'd rather not spend much.... I spend all my money on my "proper" bike not much left for trials.... So, basically, what cheap, long lasting pad for plenty of bite on a lightly ground rim, on the back of a mod? Thanks!!! It's emulsion bled, and it's a HS33 "green" if that makes any difference...?

My mtb gets a good clean whenever it needs it... at least every few weeks. Trials bike hardly ever, I dont really ride much muddy Nat stuff, or when it's very wet, so it stays pretty good.

I'm sorry, but I cant agree, Grinding your rims is fairly standard practice, A good grind will last a long time, and a rim can be ground many, many times if done right... the best thing I heard is that your not removing any surface, just conditioning the surface. Grind ***

Very good, I have an older T-pro, from when it had a really nice spec, including Ltd Edition Green HS33's, and stuff. Lovely bike, and it's been great for learning on.

2 weeks of an hour or two most nights... and 3 nasty crashes... still cant hop forward on the back wheel though....

On a "proper" bike thinner pedals have myriad benefits, better ground clearance, more efficiency, your body is lower when standing on level cranks, so more stability (so in that way, it does feel a little like your on a lower BB) on a Trials bike I cant see all that much point though.... those "crampons" are horrible anyway... Superstar Nano Flats are the way IMHO.

I just use a maggie black with a bit of tar... not amazing, but all I need. I spend most of my time on the back wheel anyways....
