Was thinking if anyone from the south of england (southampton/portsmouth/andover etc) want to get together for a ride on some day during the christmas holidays? Maybe after christmas day, so people can use their new goodies theyve recieved for christmas? Just a thought. Post your opinions on date/location. Im good with anywhere within an hours drive from Southampton.

Idk how ive managed to do this, but whilst riding today my left pedal came loose and was hanging off at an angle, i took the pedal off and looked at the threads on there, and they are fine, however the threads inside the crank arm are stripped, so obviously the pedal cant now screw on. Anyone tell me if i can get it re-threaded or will i have to buy a new crank arm? Cheers

Wow they were both awesome. I liked how Toni just hops on the rear wheel of his motorbike like its a 10kg bicycle I know its only like 80kg itself and it has an engine, but still.

Basicly, to learn on you really wanna get a mod (20" inch wheels). As a begginner i would recommend a second hand bike, with good, long lasting parts but no worries if its scratched to hell, as when learning you fall off so much your new bike will look old pretty damn quick For £200 you can pick up a decent second hand mod, if you just wait till your validated and look in the for sale section, then you should be able to pick up a bargain. Also you want a rear magura HS33 hydraulic brake, or a very well set-up V-Brake (but unlikely on a £200 bike), and its imperritive the rear wheel is 19" not 20", although there arent many 20" rear wheeled bikes around (i think one of the new onzas might have one though).

Heavily over-tightened booster integration system without the booster . Na, Im guessing hes bent those on a vice or something as bending those clamps by over-tightening the screw would be highly unlikely The new colour scheme is a welcomed change in my opinion. Powdered grey looks pretty awesome

I got a stock, and yeh i thought u would need adaptors Atm ive got an Avid BB7, i think it might actually be a 185mm rotor atm. Im not looking to change it to a 190mm for the incerased difference, just the disc i want comes in 180mm or 190mm and i just pressumed if im going to replace it i might aswell get one as big I can. Now im even more confused about what size to get . Not many companies do 185mm, so would 190mm bodged be best or just go for 180mm and have a slightly smaller rotor? I guess if i go for 180mm i wont need any adaptors?

Im thinking about changing my disc rotor, and maybe going from a 180mm to a 190mm. Ive been thinking about it, and surely changing sizes of rotors you need adaptors to move the calipers further away, or the rotor wont fit in the calipers? Or does the 1cm not make that much of a difference that you need adaptors? Cheers just wanted to make sure before accidently buying the wrong rotor Edit: Also instead of making a whole new topic, can someone just advise me on the difference between water and mineral oil bleeds in HS33's (with respect to hold/bite)? I like to think of myself as quite a logical person and i like to think about the implications of doing something mechanical before actually doing it, so also thinking about this; does the water not make the inside and the calipers rust, and am i not right in saying water is EVER so slightly compressable, whereas Hydraulic Mineral Oil is not? If so why use water apart from the cost side of things?

Im using HS33 rear break. Can anyone advise on which is best for bite/hold on a stock?

I have Wellgo Mg1's and theyre awesome. I think theyre only like £25 each and theyre lightwieght, grippy, and i havent broken them yet

20" is way easier to learn on. Smaller + easier to handle, better feel on the back wheel + alot more flicky (spins). Cant roll stuff as easy, but 20" is what u want if you want to learn. Also as said before, i would be looking at getting a GOOD second hand bike, which is already a bit beaten up, as its only gonna take u a few weeks to beat up a bike a bit, and it will save u loads. £400 will get u a damn nice 20" (aka mod).

I find base layers (wool and thermals etc) do a better job than compression tops, as compression tops are more designed for keeping your muscles in the right place and helping you maintain good posture whilst playing sport, which in turn helps you play better, however for trials you dont so much want this, as on a bike you are bending over to hold the handle bars (on a mod anyway), which is not the posture the compression top is trying to help you into. Nice cranks, look alot different to the normal ones. Also the frame is very nice in a 2 colour scheme, although im not overly keen on the red front tyre, although it is a good tyre Also, your crank bolts seem to screw in WAY too far? Or is that just me ?

Logically, if you think about stopping quickly, then making the rims rougher (grinding) is evidently going to be a greater advantage than tar, as tar just makes the rims (and everything else) sticky, which is not the main principle behind braking. To brake successfully you need 2 rough surfaces to rub against one another, therefore causing friction, which will stop you. Having 2 sticky surfaces will also stop, you but not aswell, because there isnt as much friction, as a stick substance is almost like a liquid. To your comment about a grind weakening the rim, that is not true. The rim will be the same strength in the vertical plane (which is what you want in a rim, and even horizontally, taking a few mm off the rim is not going to do much at all. Trust me, tar is a bitch and gets everywhere, but your choice. That is my opinion anyway.

i think the general jist is to only do like 1 or 2 hops at the most, and if your going to do more, then you need to hop sideways and use that sideways friction to stop you, however ive never ridden breakless so dont quote me

Im new to the forum really so havent found any local riders, except one guy i rode with on halloween. Im allways up for riding in a sorta half an hour drive radius of southampton.

I think i started in 2006 or something, and rode 2006 season + 2007 season + the first trial of the 2008 season. I then quit for 2 and a bit years as my trials partner went to university so i had no real friends to ride with, and have just recently come back to trials (bought a new stock for fun) and was hoping to compete next year . I didnt really make friends with that many people at HBTC as i was like 14 :L but you probably encountered + spoke with me, im quite friendly and chatty .
