  1. watch a view training videos like ryan leech, then practise putting your front wheel on a ledge and jumping the bike up and down, to get the feel of being on the back wheel but not having to hold the front wheel up, then take it from there jumping away from the ledge hanging your front wheel in the air and with practise it will become easier.
  2. The best thing to do for this obviously is to get a hose splitter, this eliminates the crossover pipe so u cant kick it. Also they are meant to give a better brake feel, however when i had mine i didnt feel the difference. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/rim_brake_spares/monty_hose_splitter/c5p2099.html Hope this helped.
  3. The way i see it, nowadays you struggle in a career path without a university degree, so without college A levels its going to be even harder, you may not ever get to where you really want to be. I think if you come out of college with decent A levels and dont go to uni, its hard, but you can still make a good living if you put the effort in, coming out BEFORE then and you have the same qualifications as a chavvy good for nothing 16 year old, you have no chance really. Stick it out through college, and if you really cant stand anymore take it from there. 2 years at college, free of charge, and you are in a much better position, i can see not going to uni as its fking hard, you gotta pay shit loads, and alot of people dont even pass in the course they want. Thats how i see it anyway.
  4. First off; Wheel size - Difference in wheel size is quite big and important . 20" are decent for learning on in my opinion, as they are easier to chuck about and i like the thick rear tyre. Theyre more spinny for learning those types of moves, harder to get up big stuff but your not going to be getting up big stuff when learning anyway . Would advise away from 24" if your a beginner. Gears - More the oldschool bikes had gears, not many of the new ones really. Was mainly because people just rode trials on upgraded mountain bikes which had gears, but now the bikes are so specific for trials they only need the 1 gear. Ratio - 18-15 is good on a 26" (Stock) and for mod i think like 18-12 or something is what most people use Buying from shop - Allways a decent a idea as you know its not been trashed and everything is greased up and serviced properly, especially if you dont have alot of previous bike experience to do this yourself. Second hand can also be good as you can get a real bargain with top parts for not alot of money, just be sure you are getting a good deal and not getting ripped off - once u start riding and learning more youll know whats good and whats not, especially for your style, as what someone else might think is a really good setup, you might not personally like. If you have the budget, go brand new. Disc/Rim - HS33's are used by the majority of people on the rear, and alot of people use discs on the front. Personally if i rode a 20" i would go for dual disc, as i like the look, however dual HS33's are probably just as good, again personal preference with bleed/pads etc. Building yourself - A very expensive way to do it to be honest, however you can get exactly what you want. As a begginer you probably dont know what you want so i would advise away again. As for the comment at the end, i dont think people are disuaded from trials? Everyone i know who rides would love more people to get into the sport, but maybe different areas are different I like to think the majority of people who ride trials are good guys, and happy to help you out whenever really :$. Hope i helped.
  5. Pretty rare anyone would do those drugs together, thats just dangerous t-uk are just a bitch to deal with, customer service and that just sucks.
  6. Apart from the UCI bashrings from middleburn + TNN (as these are way to expensive for me :\), what front sprocket can i use with these :\? The middleburn sprockets only go down to like 30T or something, so what does everyone use? Cheers.
  7. I dont think so, i think thats just if u got SL clamps too, i think with normal maggy clamps u need the washer. I dont really understand what u mean, but i think u mean each half of the mount arent touching each other, as though the cylinder is too big for the clamps? I guess if this is the case, then aslong as they are tight + u have it all square (same space between halfs on both side) then i guess it should be ok? Dont over tighten it though as u might strip the thread in your frame, which is bad times .

  9. I added you on MSN, but my paypal is jonno_alty@hotmail.com , i think postage is around £4, so 15 + 4 to postage, to my paypal is cool, then ill send them off asap. If you want like first class super delivery or anything then u can pay more P&P but thats up to u.

  10. luke and i are going to milford on sea tomorrow morning, your welcome to come.
  11. well i got 2 158mms, but stripped one of the 170mm cranks. I thought its better to have a 170mm cranks on my strong foot and have them odd cranks, than have 2 158mms, as i get more power from the 170mm o.O. Feels slightly strange though i must say. Might have to change back to 2 158mms , but on stock theyre too short to be honest. Will i be able to get there a bit early and look at the sections? Never been to a crowthorne trial and havent riden a hampshire trial in like 2 and a half years, so not a clue what route to ride :\.

    Shoes?

Money is kinda an issue when your 18
  13. Just the leaver on the tech trial is alot more adjustable so u can have it exactly as you want it. Basicly for rotors, you want 160 or 180 on a mod, and anything above 180 really on a stock, as there are lots of variations like 180, 185, 190, 200, 203 etc. Also atm i run a BB7, which is a decent brake, however im finding it quite hard to keep setup properly. I think it could be the cable stretching a bit, i keep having to re-setup and re-adjust the brake to get it how i like it o.O. Having said thats its really easy to do as theres so many adjuster points, setting it up how you like it is quite easy. If i was buying again, and had the money, i would buy a hope though.
  14. Im not gonna know anyone there but im gonna come, hopefully meet some people and do some riding. Is there going to be like a burger van thing or something to buy lunch at? Really hate making packed lunch and my mums off work so she wont get up early to do it . Also need to try and sort out my crank problem, atm i got 1 158mm and 1 170mm
  15. Holy shit thats nice . Is that a slate II dressed up like an akali?
  16. oh right, well the tyres are still for sale, ill pop you a validation vote.

  17. whyd you kill the dinosaur Decent vid but wasnt so keen on the music.
  18. yes im still selling the monty tires, and for sure the rear is 19" :P

  19. Generally a high bottom bracket rise (bb rise) would be easier to learn back wheel hops, as they have a nicer feel on the rear wheel. If you get a mod with a high bb rise then rear wheel stuff becomes quite alot easier. However at the end of the day its all personal preference, especially if you have a previous riding background, where you are used to a different type of bike.
  20. I dont know, but my tensile 60 click is alot louder than my try-all 108.9. The try-all is such a better freehweel, smoother, more engagement points and doesnt skip, where as the tensile skips sometimes. So clearly the loudness doesnt indicate quality, although i think children think it does, as the chris king hubs are loud as fk. I really dont like a loud freewheel, or loud brakes, as i feel like a bellend when your doing trialsy stuff and u get proper wierd looks from the public, even more so if your brakes are honking and your freewheel is clicking really loudly.
  21. its like the old retro monty tyres, although some of the old ones had yellow lines round i think? I agree how its the small things, like crank bolts matching colour etc . Grips are pretty lame though :$ .
  22. im going up to hookes wood on wednesday, so either day is cool for me, maybe even both . Where you thinking of luke? text me if u decide something; 07834270564. Or post here, ill probs see it
  23. lols. Its just to bring your thread back up to the top of the page, as it has the most recent reply. You can type anything, but bump has just been the standard thing to put i guess. If you didnt bump youd have to make a new thread everytime it got off the first page or two
  24. like the hubs, and silver forks look better than the wannabe trialtech black ones . Could do with trimming the rear hose a bit too lol. In the pic looks like you have a 24" front wheel and 26" rear going for a peny-farthing type trials bike ? Im quite sure they are both 24" and its just the camera :$
  25. Stem doesnt suit me either, and need to get a grind on those rims . Looks pretty pimp in orange, but maybe get some see through cable ties instead of black ones ?
