  1. Fitted a set of Urbans today, thought i'd throw some pictures on here Originally started as a spare frame, then got a rear wheel cheap, had a set of brakes and forks lying around, ended up as an entire bike
  2. Brand new 7 speed chain. I know chains are meant to 'wear' into cassettes, but i've always taken that with a pinch of salt to be honest. I'm gunna get that shifter before looking into it further anyway. Just wanted to make sure, as i know some shifters/mechs have different ratios, i think its SRAM that has 2:1 ratio?
  3. I'm doing up a friends mountain bike and having a bit of an issue with the rear gears. I've fitted a shimano deore XT rear mech with a Shimano deore LX 9 speed shifter. However the rear cassette is 7 speed, and the hub can only take a 7 speed cassette. So two questions : 1. can i get away with just changing the shifter? And use something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290752684619?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_2364wt_1236 2. As it's set up atm, the chain jumps on 3-7th gear. I know its not gunna be perfect with it's current set-up, but it seams the chain is jumping around the teeth, rarther than up or down. I.e, the rear mech is perfectly inline with the gear when it skips. Cheers
  4. I purposely did it that way to give the bigger surface area for the barb as not to damage it, but i guess im not hitting it as hard as you
  5. You mean like this http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/174362-useful-barb-fitting-tip/
  6. Hose still cracks, that's what i do.
  7. I've never done this successfully, even when using clamps. I always find the hose splits, so i heat it up for a few seconds with a lighter. Not till it melts, just to soften it up a bit
  8. This! I refer to my earlier comment of natural selection. If you put your finger in a sharp spinning metal disc, you get what's coming to you. Its not bad design, it's you being a f**king moron!
  9. How? Where does the brake fluid come from/go?
  10. That's one gripe i have about people ranting on about wearing helmets. They wont protect you from 100% of falls and knocks, they're designed to absorb as much of the impact as they can without transferring the energy to your head. There's some people on here that think just because you wear a helmet, it'll make you invincible
  11. Have you ever tried to break one of these? I've taken a sledge hammer to one, and failed to break it
  12. In all seriousness, its hard to tell, but in the 3rd picture it doesn't look like its got thr 45 degree angle for the race. i cant see the angle of the headset effecting it, as long as the bearing is seated tight against the forks.
  13. I prefer to use cable ties, much harder to get out of
  14. You showed objection to him not running a crown race, not the angle of the headset bearings....
  15. Not when he only mentioned that after your comment....
  16. Gotta agree with this. It could be dodgy, but then again i see alot of younger people buy trial's bikes because they see a rider about and wanna give it a go, then give up after a week because they haven't turned into danny mac
  17. The main difference is in the second picture, you 'push' off your rear wheel to throw the bike in the air, where as in the first one, you 'push' off your front wheel to throw the bike in the air.
  18. You don't use any pedal stroke. As the image shows, stand high over the bike, then launch it up until the back wheel's on the object.
  19. Slick tyres give you less rolling resistance when riding street
  20. AND the choice of your components, AND how well they are set up...
