spunkey_monkey_boy replied to Dai the Socket's topic in Member Organised Rides
for anyone who hadn't guessed i'll be there looking very stressed no doubt and running around like a mad thing! i wont be riding cos my bikes not fully built yet and i'll probably be too busy making sure everything goes ok! i'll be wearing a blue 24 hour howies tshirt on sat and a red howies t shirt on sunday, if you see me standing still and not looking too stressed come say hi! and replying to what phil said, yes there will be prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd and there will be prizes for other moves/falls etc but we are still working out what prizes should go for what acheivement etc... prizes are: pads and poss t's from heatsink (heatsinkpads.co.uk) bikes parts/spares from select bikes (selectbikes.com) clothing from howies (howies.co.uk) see y'all there, ps: if you want to come and help set up on friday you need to pm me and tell me who you are, where your from, what experience you have of section building and how many of your mates will be with you. locals, club committee and liverpool lot dont need to tell me all that just whether your coming or not  -
no i'm talking about the cost of affiliating the club to biketrialuk, it has no effect on our insurance costs etc. at the moment i am looking into other companies for insurance before i go down the acu path, as far as i can see being insured by the acu is going to be a pain in the arse in terms of licenses etc, if i get annual insurance then all we have to do is pay it at the beggining of each year and thats it! the extra 50p seems ok to add on but i wana make sure everyone is in agreement, i'll be reading biketrialuk's constitution as soon as i get it to work out what the benefits are for being affiliated cheers for responses so far tom

very nice bike :turned: why no howies stickers on view???
-
i'll be riding if i have the energy and time to. i get back from college at 5 so will be home at about half 5 but have got stupid amounts of work to do on college stuff and NWBTC stuff so if you pm me you phone number, i'll call you tommorrow if i have time to come ride :turned: yeah i figure affiliating is worth while but wana get some more oppinions in before i decide. i'll see what concencus is tommorrow
-
hey phil great to see the sites open, just in time for us guys to start promoting it at the next indoor event :turned: can you sort us a nice big template to paint the selectbikes.com logo onto some beams/cotton reels?
-
so i can make everyone aware of this issue i have decided to add it on here aswell as bring it up at tommorrow meeting: to be affiliated to biketrialuk we may have to pay a 50p charge for every rider at every event, this is a nominal charge but as we are trying to keep our entry costs as low as possible it is not one i feel we can automatically include. would people rather we did not affiliate with biketrialuk (i think we would be the only club in the uk not to and it may hinder the grants we can apply for) and keep the entry fee's as they are or would you rather see the entry fees go up by 30-50p and be affiliated. i am not 100% on all of the benefits of being affiliated but i plan to find out and then pass it on. thoughts?

North Wales Biketrials club is now up and running properly. as many of you know we held an event in januray that was quite a success and on the back of that event we have secured the use of the same hall for another event (see the other topic in rides section). we have also officially started up NWBTC (name to be decided on this week). as the club is now up and running we are ready to start gaining members. heres the low down on membership: annual membership - £15 what do you get for your money? reduced entry cost to official competitions and events free entry to member only club nights (smaller indoor events) the chance to win the members only prize at all NWBTC competitions from either heatsink, selectbikes.com or howies you do not need a license to ride at NWBTC events so there are no extra hiden costs. we are negotioating discount with a couple of companies at the moment for all you riding needs. official club member only discounts or special offers will be put up when they are confirmed (hopefully later this week) how do you become a member? bring your £15 along to the next indoor event or email me directly and i can post out the relevant forms any other questions just get in touch. cheers tom

right for those who haven't got the confirmed detaisl: location - the old john brights sports hall, llandudno (check the rides gallery for the directions poster) times - sat 12-8.30pm, 3 sessions, session 1 12-2.30pm session 2 3-5.30pm and the final session 6til8.30pm. 4 marshals needed for each session, anyone who marshals one session will get free entry to ride in the next session sun - competition day, hall opens at 12, comp starts at 1. no riding before the comp starts. format - max 30 riders for the comp, split into 3 groups of 10. group one will compete between 1and 1.30pm, group 2 between 1.45 and 2.15pm and group 3 2.30 and 3pm. if you miss your slot you miss your run. each rider will get one 2 minute run to impress the judges as much as they can, to clarify, all riders will have an equal chance of winning. after the event is over and so long as the set up is still safe to ride the hall will be open to riders again for a free jam. prizes - individual prizes to be comfimed but there will be brake pads from heatsink, bike parts from select bikes and clothing from howies :( rules and regs - all competiton riders must wear a helmet and are encouraged to wear gloves and other protective gear. for the practice sessions all riders under 18 must wear a helmet, anyone over 18 can make their own descision. there will be a maximum of 30 riders admitted to each practice session, this is to stop the crowding problem we had at the last event. the music will play through the whole of sat but will be ALOT quieter than last time and on the sunday music will play during the comp depending on whether the overall concencuss (sp?) is for it or not. you do not need a license to enter the event. costs: club membership - £15 entry costs: practice - £3 non members, £1 members, free if you've marshalled a session comp - £5 non members, £2 members spectators at the comp 50p, practice free. this charge is to discourage the liocal scallies from coming along and causing trouble, if your too tight to pay 50p to watch then sorry but this is the only way we can see keeping the event scally free :) there will be a refreshment table at the event all day saturday and all day sunday i think that covers eveything, if not put up a message and i'll answer your questions cheers tom -

dunno if i've put this up already but the format of the comp on sunday will be: comp entrants split into 3 groups of max 10 in each group. each group will be given a start time so they dont have to sit around all afternoon if they dont wana watch once the comp is over the hall will be open riding for everyone if they want. the comps not starting any earlier than 12 for those travelling down to it or those still to fooked from the previous day or night... if anyone has any other questions etc then put a message up, i'm away in germany at the moment so can't really go into much more depth see you there tom -

this is the thing that is pissing me off about trials in the uk now, almost all the riders are going to the uci (when i say uci i mean uci/biu comp style) silver frame brigade and those of us who still ride street the old skool way are made to feel like we're not proper trials riders. there were messages earlier in this thread that made out koxx had the best team in the world. yeah thats true if your closed minded enough to only view biu/uci riders as riders worth making up a good team. yeah raub i am organising trials events and all i've got off alot of riders is 'that wasn't big enough' or 'all we're interested in is rocks and uci/biu comp stuff' and what i want to do is make people realise there is more top trials than the purest thing that the koxx blokes do. yes what they do is pretty big and impressive but no one seems to give credit where credits due, there is more to trials than 56" side hops! i love the fact so many people have thrown my comments back at me because it shows i've raised a point alot of people are unhappy to have seen raised, yeah i ride street like other street riders do and no i do not pull orignial moves when i go riding but i'm also not getting stuck into this elitest style of only being good on a bike if you can sidehop 50"+ etc. try to look outside the box, if you dont like the fact i want all aspects of trials included then i would suggest NWBTC events are not for you, i will not exlude a rider because they have 21gears, a 17" frame and can't sidehop but that doesn't mean if you ride a koxx and can side hop 50" your not welcome because everyone is welcome to the events and when i say everyone i mean everyone. 360 bunny hops and manuals were biketrials moves before 90% of TF members even started riding trials - dont be so narrow minded to think that only your type of riding is biketrials!

i dont have msn for the simple reason that i spend too long on the computer as it is and if i had msn i'd be on here even more... i've no idea what CLS did at NASS because i've never been but if you track down the video 'ChrisAkriggFinalRound_DivX.avi' and watch that you'll get the idea. basically every rider gets 90seconds to impress the judges and at the end of your run the judges will give you a score. they will be looking at your choice of line, technique, use of course and they will take into consideration the bike your on, your experience and how original you are. if out of the 30 comp riders 29 of them do huge uci stuff and then one comes along and does small street moves then guess who'll get the points for originality... -

my uncle made it down from bradfor in 2 1/2 hours on friday night and that was driving through rush hour, i dunno how far from bradford you are but it shouldn't be much longer than that. for pics you need to check out matt barlow's web site where there's 4 videos and 4 galleries of photos: http://www.slowprogress.co.uk/Photos/Trial...Jam2/index.html -
Would You Pay For Trials-shack (ftp Accounts)?
spunkey_monkey_boy replied to Simon's topic in Chit Chat
well £2 a month isn't much if you do use it but all i was saying was if you had to pay to download then those people who only download once or twice a month are going to pay for one months membership and then download solidly for the month. £2 is a bargain if you use it but either way if downloads are free then i'm happy just so long as people continue to put videos up there!!! -
