blimey, wouldnt have wanted to be on that when it went. i dont hook either, it has to be one of the harshest moves for bike parts to cope with. a close second would be front taps
-
both of you are better than me, and better than most i think. but honestly, who cares, enter a comp find out who is better. or better still ride not just to better someone else, but for fun and all the other usual reasons for riding. that said a bit of healthy competition never hurt anyone.

in defence of this video, not meaning to cause a huge debate, and in saying this im not the best at editting vids myself, nor am i the judge and jury on what makes a good video, this is my own personal opinion. (little disclaimer before i get berated) there is only one section of the whole video (to my knowledge - the bin gap area has been in loads but not that line) that has appeared in other videos. when riding in sheff with neil he refused to have certain moves filmed because they have been done before, all big moves and all would have looked good in a video. so no repetition of already nailed lines. yes there are a lot of moves repeated over in the video, different angles add to the video, but sometimes they can go a bit ott. but then again quite a few vids do repeat clips and moves throughout. if you think about it has a lot more moves in the video than some, biiiig drop, drop gaps, standard gaps, sidehops, static to backwheel, wheel swaps, hooks, etc. street riding can be samey, blame abercrombie, bauhaus and the modernist/post-modernist architecture for that, we just ride whats there. the music isnt to my taste either but each to their own, it may not fit the video brilliantly either but i just muted it, again a function of media play. yes there are better editted vids but hey there are worse, (to which i can put my name).

nothing wrong with that video! good stuff neil, and the clips from sheffield seemed mad at the time but since when has hoppin to the roof of a fiesta been fair game?!?!? noticed you borrowed woody's helmet at one point? that hook towards the end in derby - thats so much bigger that in looks. keep it up! (Y)

that was one squished wheel so what was the damage during the ride, so far, i know of numerous punctures snapped forks and that wheel nice video, music was fine nice and easy listening, crashed my comp halfway through though but all divx vids do that so im used to it. big doesnt come close to describing that side hop at the station, mahooooosive would be more fitting!!

wish i had taken my camera out some insane riding went off! i did feel slightly out numbered though - my bike seemed to be one of the few with a touch of colour on it (i was on the burgundy pashley with hi-fi forks, either moaning bout little kids being better than me :- or gettin pissed off with hiltop for landing silly lines all day especially that 180 line on the bollards :P ) who was the other lad on the pashley? thanks to whoever you are for showing you dont have to ride a long low silver bike to hit the massive lines!! (esp the gap from bouncy rail to wall) JT sound guy, not least for turning up around 11 ish (Y) mental note to self, must improve before next ride! Cheers everyone, good ride Matthew (pashley 26Ghz)

after a slight rearrangement o my face last year, knocking teeth out and paying £550 to get em fixed up i stil ride in an XC lid, full face seems overkill to me and surely itll get in your sight lines for certain sections. just go out riding as soon as you can to get your confidence up again and u wont worry so much just my thoughts anyway

youve bought the brake from new i assume? if so the oil probably hasnt settled right, pump the lever for a long time, not just 3 or 4 times, i spent 10 mins doing mine the other day after cleaning my pistons. works fine now. if you take your reservoir cap off dont screw your diaphragm up, when re-tightening your cap dont over-tighten, just nip the bolts up dont crank em in or this will cause your diaphragm to go curvey (it should be perfectly flat or it wont work. you may also need to spot face your fork mounts, you also must make sure the disc runs straight in the caliper, an even distance from each pad. finally it, if u look from the end of your bars towards the lever you will see a space for a 2mm allen key, this adjusts the reach of your lever, screw it in to increase lever reach. this has been known to sort out the problem of your lever pulling to the bars. spongyness is either your brake isnt bedded in, get the rotor muddy wet and generally covered in muck, or its due to lack of alignment. dont do everything at once, try one at a time

any one going from sheffield i may pop along because im seriously bored! and strangely havent ridden leeds ever despite living so close. send me a pm or somert or reply in here cheers

some of the best value bikes are giant, they are really well specced for the money, the rincon at £250 is far better than the similarly price scott yz3 (drive chain and forks plus pretty much everything else) only problem is that it is pretty disgusting colour. at £300 you could get a giant yukon, front and rear hayes hmx discs that actualy work well, much better than the shimano cable pull. its similar gearing to the rincon but the forks are better and discs brakes that work for that price cant be bad. if you look around though at this time of year you could probably find some good deals on the 2005 range that shops are selling off. yukon rincon hope this helps

Oi Oi, Pics Of Me And Todge <<<new>>>
matthewholdsworth replied to Joe Papasnap Maher's topic in Videos
nice pics, good angles on the tree blunt thingy :P and that is one of the most tweaked X-ups ive seen in a long time! good stuff! -
i'll use SIS drink stuff and bars when im out riding for a whole day, mainly on XC rides to help maintain energy and rehydration. dont think i would bother with anything other than this.
-
thanks for the comments lads rob, i will definitely be back for bonfire night and will be making a trip to skipton to purchase some massive fireworks. joe, merci for the praise, much appreciated. glad you liked the vid, on the whole it seems to be doing as well as a lead balloon! :P next vid is goin to be very different though, trying to make a more chilled out natural video.
-
one of the best natural vids i've seen, really wanna go ride some rocks now. some very big moves and nice soundtrack too. dont get enough natural videos on here, this one is a keeper

here is a shortish 4 min video ive made. its clips of people ive been riding with for the past few months, and in some cases a good few years. some of them you lot will know, lee buchanan and neil tunnicliffe most of them you wont have seen but they all make me look pretty amature! song is: velvet revolver - do it for the kids riders: Me - pashley 26ghz with silver forks (and strangely wearing the same tartybikes t-shirt in all clips?!!?) Woody - Pashley 26ghz and pashley forks Rik Duckworth - black/yellow planet x 3-ball (ive managed to convince him to start wearing a helmet) Ben - his old levelboss (went to france before i could get any vids of him on his echo) Rob - echo team, (refuses to buy a full size bike) Oli - DMR transition (adding a bit of variety to the vid) Chris Owen - base ta-26 hope you like riders2005 comments welcome, cheers

these hubs are not coming out until hope know they are going to work and right now they dont. dont expect them to rush it, be patient and it'll be worth the wait. i can safely say it will be the perfect hub for trials, a lot research has gone into not only the pawls and springs etc, but the freehub body material (to prevent cassette cogs digging in)
-
go for a tiagra/sora/105/ultegra/dura-ace rear mech they are short cage and have a tighter spring to give them more tension, i use tiagra, it is better than the sora because the cable is held in with an anllen bolt not a 9mm nut thingy (much nices and easier to sort when out on a ride)

Are C2 Disk Brakes Any Good?
matthewholdsworth replied to downhill_rob2@hotmail.com's topic in Trials Chat
hope have just stopped making new C2s becuase demand is now for the open systems but dont worry spare parts will be available for pretty much ever! used to have one it was awesome, levers are a tad fragile but have a good feel and the pivot is in a nice place. -
merci bopeep folks, didnt expect such a positive response :P im gutted i couldnt come down to dover ben, we should get together before u swan off to le land de frogs brake deadly in what way, all through that vid it locked up brill (plaz pads on a grind) but now its all decided to be toilet on me, anyway should get it sorted hiltop, you should know i have to fall gracefully i cant afford new teeth yet! right best be off, more riding to be had tonight

this vid was flimed, by various people (thanks to woody, ben, lee, chris, hiltop and neil tunni, for putting up with my numerous failed attempts to land these) its taken a while to do because of exams, work, riding and bone-idleness but anyway, i tried me best with the editting, only using windows movie maker (shame) and at times i admit i got carried away with with the odd effect. anyway, hopefully some of you will enjoy, comments appreciated cheers april_july05 NB the end of the vid shows just how sketchy i really am
