  1. If he is anything like me just ask what he wants then buy it. Then everyone is happy But its already been said we are all different, i would be disapointed with a Lynx Apollo spray and shower gel set.
  2. Where you from? If you can i highly reccomend riding with others!
  3. I've been riding for about a year now and get out probably once a week. My local riders seems to be recovering from injury or just starting out. One other oldschool rider has come back and now gone as far as i can tell. Think he has family comitments. The Weather has been very shitty lately. Enthusiasm has gone down as its either raining or blowing a gail.
  4. oldschool tryall round hole rims and heatsink yellows on cnc backings. No?
  5. Ok thanks for the replys. Will try a harsher grind and new lever.
  6. I bled it in a bucket of water, both ways untill nothing came out. Its just the lack of hold backwards which bothers me. Dropping off forwards, gaps etc. it never slips. If i land a pedal up on the edge of a step it doesn't hold that well. This usually makes loads of noise and i slip down. Is this normal and maybe i am just epecting too much? Pads are square although one hits slightly before the other. Would this cause it?
  7. Ok, just got a tape out and the flex is actually more like 2mm between the bolts with the booster . Is this as good as its going to get or would another booster be better? cheers
  8. Yes the brake is set up ok, water bled not long ago, fresh grind and heatsink yellow pads. I have an 05 magura with 2 finger lever. Maybe 5mm if flex was a slight exaggeration but it is still quite noticable by eye. The brake holds ok going forwards but backwards its slips more. Like if i come up short of an edge is slips back.
  9. Hi, i ride an 08 GU Le stock and there is no in built booster so is very flexy. I have been using one of these Echo Urban four bolt http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/4bolt_boosters/echo_urban_4bolt/c3p10604.html It has improved the brake loads but there is still a lot of flex. Maybe close to 5mm? Any reccomendations? Cheers
  10. Riding skinny lines etc on two wheels isn't easy but it is easy compared to hopping around on the rear wheel. This is why frames have the have high BBs as it helps with the hard stuff. street bikes such as insprired are a compromise between trials and bmx frames. It will do both but wont be as good as a bmx or a dedicated trials bike. When you see videos of danny mac etc. it shows how tallented they are as a rider, not how easy the frame makes it. If you had a street style bike im sure you would be able to manual and bunnyhop pretty well as you probably do with your bmx background but you may struggle with the more trials focused moves such as pedal kicks. Personly im not in to bmx type stuff so have a full on trials bike. It is hopeless for manuals etc but that is not what its for. I was mucking about with a mate yesterday who has a jump bike and it just felt so wrong. Problem was i was trying to ride it like a trials bike. For a laugh I tried to pedal kick and hop about and i couldn't do it for shit. Trials riding is hard enough so a nice frame designed to be user freindly is all too welcome
  11. Im not sure why you are comparing trials to bmx and dirt jump frames. They share almost nothing in common when it comes to fuction or desirable features. In trials the height of the bottom bracket from the ground is not relevant. The height in relation to the wheel hubs will have the same effect on the way it handles regardless of wheel size.
  12. Ross whats wrong with Crawley? You are forgeting that Newhaven is a massive shithole! haha. Despite this is has some sweet riding spots If anyone wants to ride feel free to drop me a PM. The more the merrier!
  13. Tell a lie, the duel compound smorgasbord tyres are £14.99, still a bargain! They seem to work fairly well in all areas IMO. Sticky edges holds corners and cambers very well. I have used them on the south downs, friston forest (more chalky clay), surrey hills (sandy loam) and a few other local places. Rooty sections are good with these tyres compared to others iv used and they work well in loose conditions too. They don't seem to wear too fast either.
  14. Im using bontrager xr mud 26x2.0 for the single speed/winter abuse bike. Great for XC rides on the south downs, very sticky clay and chalk in the winter. For my trail bike its another thums up for on one tyres! have used cunky monkey 26x2.4 and they come up enormous! They have duel compound and grip like shit to a blanket. Only issue is they are quite draggy so i prefer the smaller smorgasbord 26x2.25 which are a bit more easy going for everything but downhill. They are essentially maxxis tyres and are made in the same factory (mate of mine used to work at on one). Seriously impressed with on one tyres and the smorgasbord are only a tenner at the moment! http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/TYOOSM26X225/on-one-smorgasbord-26x225-tyre
  15. Did it really have to based around the war? The speech and all the arseing around on the beech??? Thought it was sickening.
  16. Me and Ross ride together a bit. There is also Jake and Ben who are injured at the moment and Chris who is now at uni up north. We have rode brighton a few times but I mostly ride around newhaven on my own or with Ross. Trying to keep It alive down south!
  17. This video should help. I have tried both. I started off on a crap onza t-pro 20", then got curious about 26" as i do MTB. 26" definately felt more normal and it was great on two wheels rolling up and down obstacles. 20" is what i currently use and because i am about 5' 6 i find it much easier to control on the back wheel. The length on the 26" made it harder for me to throw my weight around. I later got a better 20" and it does feel more twichy than the 26" and not as nice on two wheels but i think i am progressing faster on the 20". If you are tall (or maybe i should say not short) i would go for 26.
  18. Sweet riding! I was hopefull that it would be 'Little Sister' by Queens of the stone age.... I don't think it would have gone but i would have liked it! haha
  19. Enjoyed that. You chose such a good song too! One of my favorites!
  20. You shouldn't let the freehub disengage. Instead of moving the pedals backwards you should let the pedals push your feet as the bike rolls back. Try practicing facing up a slope that is steep enough that it takes a fair amount of pressure on your front foot to hold yourself there without brakes. That way when you wan't to roll back it will happen instantly. It is an odd feeling at first but it soon becomes natural. As you get the hang of it you can try it on more gental slopes and then on flat ground. On flat ground you rely more on the brakes, shifting your body weight left and right and turning the bars. Hope this helps.
  21. Either on a slight slope and simply rolling backwards or you can hold the brakes and push back and then release them.
  22. GET A JOB! Just don't over do it or you'll have no time for biking :'(
  23. Great riding as always! Just wish you had used the original Nine Inch Nails song, cant bloody stand Johnny Cash!!!
  24. So long as its a weekend im happy to make the trip over. Never been to Crawley, any good riding spots? Not sure what skill levels we have? I'm not that great but i've found riding with others really helps
  25. Well if someone wants to organise it im game. I suspect a few others would be too.
