  1. if i had half that control i'd be happy fella - good job. if thats taken you 6 months to do then i think i'll be practicing for a few years as time is scarce round here! liked your hop up to the rear wheel on the bench.....that technique there looks to be one of the most useful things to learn to do!
  2. that is......odd. i have a headset, just need some bearings which ive found on ebay for £3 or something. headset was free so i'm not complaining! was actually thinking of just not putting a seat on there lol but the sizes are useful mate, thanks. which model is yours? mines a mk2 ive been told... the ardent's any good? what would you want for them?
  3. Hard to get trials specific forks with v bosses. The Scott ones I've bought should do for now.
  4. really really nice and tidy - good job. now lets see a video of you doing some trials stuff
  5. alot of people are going to tell me that this was stupid, but for £10 posted i've got some Scott v-mount forks. yes they are standard MTB so won't be up for big drops etc, but for a tenner, and the fact that i wont need to source a disc brake i'd be silly not to as a short term thing. i've said it before, but i can't even trackstand at the minute, so the liklihood of me doing any drops ore hopping across railings is very slim. if i get decent then i can swap my forks out for something better and stronger. it's coming together slowly, hopefully will get a ride this summer!
  6. Ah a good deal then! Looks really nice dude
  7. I just had to stop watching this after the moves at 4 mins 20 seconds or my head would have exploded.
  8. Lovely colour! How much did you get the frame for if you don't mind me asking?
  9. And a quick mock up as still need a few key parts!
  10. aaaaan i've gotten myself some vbrakes. needless to say my old sh*tty avids wont be too strong so have got some 'retro' (as the ad said lol) LX. before they moved to the parallel stuff - £13. ace
  11. was thinking of Lin SLICs front and back - so back for definate if theyre stiffer as i dont have a dedicated rear cable guide so this will be pretty helpful. i used to run XTR cabling on an old mtb, brakes felt really solid - recommended then?
  12. sow hich did you go for? i was looking at the linear slic but they aint cheap!
  13. honestly took me a few looks before i spotted the change in bars in those first pics lol i'm gonna be running a DMR wingbar, i'm tall like you so want something wide, hopefully i'll be ok on them! Like the look of the kabuki though, i would always shun a diamondback, but that does look pretty i must say. pics with the new stem?
  14. Ah saved by a mate! A BMXer has bought me a 610 in exchange for the green thing! Whoop!
  15. This is what I was hoping would work. Any down sides to this?
  16. yeah the sprocket is fine but i was under the misaprehension that a single speed bmx chain would be ok. after all, how much difference can there really be between 1/8" and 3/32"? apparently enough haha knew KMC may be on it's way if i can first check about chain length - i dont want to have to spend more on a tensioner and a mech dropout when this is supposed to be on the cheap.
  17. but then i need to shell out more cash on a mech hanger and tensioner. can i use the kmc and shorten it? admittedly it might nt be 100% tight, but maybe i sneak in a single halk link? the £2.50 for a half link sounds good compared to the £30 on hanger and tensioner. i might add, that although this is a bodge of sorts, it will only be until i decide if i like trials or not. if i get more serious then i will upgrade the frame to horizontal drop outs, upgrade the drivetrain and return to a full link chain - just looking for something cheap and safe for beginners stuff like hops and (very) small wall climbs etc
  18. in fact, i'm a little bit sceptical of running a full link chain on the bike. i have vertical drop outs so there's no adjustment for slack. i dont really want to have to fork out £30 on a mech hanger and a tensioner, i'm supposed to be on a budget so i dont build an expensive bike and not use it lol
  19. these any good? really want a green chain.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KMC-S1-Shiny-Chain-Single-Speed-Choice-of-Colours-/310818619450?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item485e3bc03a#ht_2537wt_946 ignoe that - just realised that a 1/2" and i need a 3/32"
  20. i have a BMX friend who will have it so no drama. i will have a standard sprocket/chainring width, hoping 22/16. so this kmc 610 - will it work ok if i decide to go ffw as well?
  21. doesn't look like i can use it with my sprockets anyways. bah. i really wanted a green one. any chains you can recomend that will work on standard MTB sprockets, good enough for trials, and in various colours?
  22. buggar. so what are my options? cheapest being get a 9 speed chain. but other options? are there screw on rear hubs and sprockets for these wider chains? and also a ffw and any screw-on crank?
  23. Hi all, I've just bought a single speed conversion kit and a half-link YBN chain for my bike build, but looking at the width of the chain i'm not sure it'll work with the sprockets on the rear or on my standard MTB chainset. Can anyone advise on what i can do or whether it will work or not? Or what the problems might be if i were to run it? Here's a link to my build thread and the last post by me on page 4 shows the new bits.... http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/186134-my-quite-unattractive-build/page-4 cheers for your help Oli
  24. i love this, the guy has clearly had a bit of an ordeal, lost a tooth and smashed his head up, and everyone's all like "nice bike" about it lol so blase about injuries hahah
