  1. I am surprised by this. My Hope headset is nice. I would agree with the denting thing, it's pretty soft metal, but it's never affected the performance for me. But if lots of people are saying don't get a Hope, then don't. The Hed Doctor thing is pretty useless - Heavier than a starnut (Which works fine anyway) and won't work with all forks. Get an FSA skypilot or something. They are good, and a fair bit cheaper than a Hope
  2. All the world's top trials riders use their sponsors' dodgy cranks and front freewheel anyway. And why would you want to get that replaced? It's not going to affect the hub in any way. Just leave it
  3. How is a brand new Hope hub "proven"? :-
  4. Doubt it. But like I said you will be able to get a PCMCIA card.
  5. Should have at least spelled fashion right though
  6. They don't look like the swing top bottles though...
  7. Nah, unplug the USB cable and throw it away. Then plug it in like this: Ntl modem --> (WAN port) Router (LAN port) --> PC Using all ethernet cables. You should have got at least one with your modem. Should be more obvious when you get the router  I bought my router from eBay. If not then just have a look on internet computer shops eBuyer, Scan, Dabs, Aria, Microdirect etc.
  8. Are you SURE it doesn't have Firewire? Not even a mini one? That sems odd to me. Even 3 years ago nearly all laptops had firewire. If not then you can definitely get Firewire PCMCIA cards which should do the trick.
  9. Yeah that is pretty shit, but they probably saw him coming a mile off. I know my local shop in Lancaster does some pretty good deals on full computers. Not eBuyer cheap, but pretty damn cheap. Some shops are not so great though, what can you do? Have a look what they have and get back to us with a spec, and someone will be able to tell you if you're getting a good deal.
  10. Dell are ok but they are pretty expensive. They have to be to pay for all those ads you see in newspapers etc. I imagine the service is pretty good though. Dell have a very good reputation for screens though. I would just go to your local computer shop and see what they can offer you, it should be significantly cheaper than Dell.
  11. The f**king stupid map added me in the middle of America (Y)
  12. All new iBooks come with airport extreme as standard anyway. So you won't need to buy that, and you'll be able to get straight onto WiFi hotspots with your iBook. Then you just need a router for your house. I assume your NTL modem has 2 connectors (I think they all do), so use an ethernet cable instead of the USB connection. And then you will need to buy a router - I use a Netgear WGR614 and it works fine, but there are plenty of other options. Shouldn't be more than £40 ish I think. You do not want a router with a modem built in, that won't work with NTL.
  13. I reckon for just games, the PS2 is better. The controller is a decent size and feels nice, and there is a much better range for the PS2. But when you chip an Xbox and use it for playing videos, it's just awsome. So I say xbox if you chip it, otherwise PS2 (Y)
  14. Too late, he's already bought a control (Y)

    Downgrading Msn?

Talk to Danny, Mark. I got annoyed by all those flashing things and Danny sent me a patch which lets you turn them all off, delete the adverts and basically get rid of all the annoying shite. I can't remember what it was called, but it was from Mess.be. I'll be darned if I can find it though.

    Cameras

What is the advantage of a proper (digital) SLR over these SLR-a-likes you can buy for much less? Is it just the overall quality or is there actually a major advantage in the SLR system?
  18. No, don't waste your money on an Alienware, unless you hate money or something. There are other alternatives which are far cheaper and just as good. In fact, some of the Alienware laptops are identical to other laptops costing hundreds of pounds less. Overpriced to the maxx!
  19. Well if you wanted to overclock it you'd want RAM that is capable of faster speeds. You may be lucky and get decent PC3200 that will do faster speeds (My bog-standard PC3200 will do 215MHz, I would expect that Geil stuff to be good for more). Or you could just buy a faster CPU and use your current RAM. That's what I would do.
  20. My girlfriend is like totally 5 years older than me ;)
  21. Yeah, those Venice 3000+ are supposed to be awsome at overclocking. If you wanna give it a try, I would probably spend a bit more on RAM that is capable of PC4000 speeds or something. And then spend the rest of that extra £100 on a better graphics card.
  22. Nice sharp pliers / side cutters. Just give it one good squeeze. And then straighten the edge off with a file, or an angle grinder if you're lazy ;)
  23. Yeah, dunno why people are saying black is cheap, you always used to pay a premium for black paint on cars because it's really hard to get a decent finish.
  24. Wanna buy my shuttle for £350? 3200+ A64, 9800Pro, 1Gb etc.
