Hmmm, I've never seen that before either buy I just watched it on Youtube. Brilliant

Well no, the only thing you could feasibly ruin is the hard drive enclosure which is designed to come on and off easily from the console. But I doubt you could do that even - as far as I can tell, it's simply a matter of undoing the screws. But the point is that there are only one particular hard drive model you can use, and you have to do a hack to install some firmware on the drive (from a PC) before installing it into the xbox. So yeah, I'm not saying that the PS3 hard drive situation isn't loads better - it is. I just saw a good opportunity to be pedantic

So does the xbox. Although you can only use certain hard drives 'cos MS has locked it down

Basically when you burn them, any oil that's contaminating them will burn off and produce black smoke. When you burn them, do it until the smoke stops - I.e. when all the oil has burnt off (Then do it a bit more for good luck). You can do this any way you like - with a gas hob, or a blow torch, or even just on an electric hob (or even in the oven, apparently). At the same time, take the disc off and wash it in warm (very) soapy water. It doesn't really matter what you use for this - Either use industrial strength degreaser or simply fairly liquid. I've used this method a few time (gas hob + fairy liquid and water) and my brake has been as good as new afterwards (Although I suppose that might depend on the amount of contamination you've got)

Converting A Mac Format File To A Windows Format?
Tomm replied to Captain Scarlet's topic in Chit Chat
You'd need to export it from FCP in the right format. I doubt you will be able to convert from a Windows PC. Maybe. Can you not just export using the Mac? Also, a better question would be "how do I convert this FCP file into a normal video file?" Because it's nothing to do with Macs/PCs having incompatible files (they don't) -
Haha, yeah. Someone said that to me and my initial reaction was to laugh and say "yeah, whatever". But then I thought about it, and the only two people I know called Ryan are indeed gay. Don't fight it

Having more than one account is not allowed. This one has been perma-banned and the other one can have a 7 day suspension, as I can only assume that you want For Sale privileges back. You were blacklisted for a reason.

I like quiche. It's tasty.

The only thing that's stopping me is that I can't get over the feeling that a lot of people who buy iPhones are posey tossers (No offense Joel). I'm not the kind of person who would ever get their phone out and leave it on the table at the pub to show it off, mind, but I almost think having an iPhone stigmatises you in that way. I'm not the kind of person that likes having expensive stuff to show off, but then again I know I'd enjoy having the internet and stuff like on the iPhone. My current plan is to get it and do a ghetto sticker job all over it. I think that would work. Plus it would hopefully upset the posey tossers. Haz - Explain?

Fact: I've never met a Ryan who wasn't gay. So that's why Ryan cries, he's probably gay and therefore more in touch with his emotions. This is healthy, if you don't cry you're just a soul-less remnant of the pre-metrosexual era.

I know the feeling. It's terribly sad when your crush doesn't reciprocate.

Because you were suggesting that you were unfairly suspended for what you thought were "throw-away comments". When, as that quote proves, it was totally justified. I don't see why you're even trying to contest it. EDIT: I now see you've changed your mind and you're no longer bothered. Hooray!
-
Yes, it makes you look stupid, you did that when you posted it in the first place. You can hardly moan about someone simply quoting you!

I reckon the trick with Treaty is to do it as fast as possible - Don't pause in any of the bubbles at all. If you do it fast enough you never get snakes, just the diamonds and the swastika things

If you read the guidelines, the 1 warning = 1 day ban. Sometimes I will be more lenient and just increase the warning or ban for, say, 12 hours. But usually if they've caused enough trouble to need a warning, they can have 24 hours out to think about it. But yeah, TheScientist is right - people get warned on the basis of their behaviour over time. If someone has been irritating and annoying, causing many arguments over several weeks, then of course no mod is going to think twice about giving them a suspension. Kind of like Al Capone being done for tax evasion. On the other hand, if someone is uncharacteristically rude when they're normally a very helpful and polite member, they're more likely to be let off.

Well, one's a tongue-in-cheek joke about something that a lot of people on here say, and the other is intended as an insult directed at one person. If you can't see the difference, it's hardly surprising that you're getting into trouble with other people on here, and the moderators (I can see your 80% warn).

How about a signed photo?

I actually don't like that idea at all, and it's nothing to do with extra work for me. Basically IMO there's already a bit of an atmosphere of 'snitching' - I.e. someone will report something fairly menial, because it's someone they don't like. Letting the snitch know they are directly responsible for getting someone suspended is the last thing I would want. At the end of the day, if I read the report, then it's my decision to close the thread/ issue suspensions etc, not the person who reported it, and I'm fairly confident that's the best way for it. At the moment I know it might seem like a fairly thankless task to report someone, but again I'd say (as Rich already has) that it's very useful for us and it doesn't go unnoticed. So thank you to everyone that has reported stuff in the past, and I'm sorry we can't issue personalised thank yous to everyone

Auto-Mod For Sale/Wanted topics are no longer allowed in New Members Chat. If you wish to post a For Sale/Wanted topic on Trials-Forum you need to read and follow this - http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ounce&f=13&id=3 Topic Closed.

Jon, look at what I posted earlier: Now re-read what you've just posted. Particularly this bit: That is precisely the kind of thing I'm on about. It's out of order. You might think it's 'just a joke' but by saying things like that you deserve some of the credit for arguments starting.
-
Well, it's rare that I (personally) would see a report and do nothing. To be honest I will rarely even look at the report itself or who it was that reported it - I usually just look at the topic it links to and see whether I think it needs some moderatering. But the odd two or three times I've cancelled a report without taking any action, I have PM'd the person reporting it just to let them know why etc.

Great Ormond Street, they must get twice the amount of charity money compared to the next biggest children's hospital. They've probably got enough. What about a local hospice? Or someone like MacMillan Cancer Care? They need loads of money just to stay afloat.

That's the second time someone has mentioned this today. I don't really know whether it would be possible to implement an anonymous reporting system, but I don't really see why it's needed? There's only the mods/admin that can see the report which means there's only about 6 or so active moderators that will ever know. If there are people that think they need to hide their identity from the mods, then that would suggest we're doing something wrong?! I don't really like the idea that the moderation team is to be feared. I certainly wouldn't ban/suspend anyone lightly, only if they had been rude/abusive or something. So you don't have to be afraid of saying that you think the forum could be run differently - of course you're not going to be banned. But please remember that insults directed at any of us moderators personally* will be treated in the same way as an insult directed at anyone else. N.B. ExtremeBiker. *or even the moderating team as a whole (as I said, there are only six or so of us so it's not really possible to insult the moderating team without it feeling somewhat personal).

I agree, feel free to have a chat to me if I've done something you don't agree with. This isn't an autocracy. But if you've been banned for swearing at someone or bullying, don't bother - I won't change my mind. Warn? Why? This is a case in point of someone (you) taking something (wrongly) on a personal level and getting upset by it. If this was another topic, your response could easily have been "f**k you then" which is how arguments start. This is the point that JD and JonMack were making earlier - half the problem is people taking stuff too seriously. There are broadly three types of people on here. 1) Most people are just in the middle, happy to take the piss a bit but also happy to have a serious conversation. 2) Then there's a small group of people who basically just post bollocks. It's usually intended as cheeky, harmless bollocks, but it doesn't always come across that way - Remember this is TF, not offtopic or /b/ or whatever. I have to say this is mostly the older members who have been here a while and don't really take this place very seriously (not that it should be a serious place, but there has to be some kind of level-headedness). Occasionally this does seem to descend into bullying which is totally out of order. You know who you are. 3) Then there's another few people who seem to take everything at face value, and get upset by these cheeky jibes, probably because they haven't been around long enough to know all the personalities here. People just need to think about what they are posting. Are you getting pissed off unnecessarily? Could your comment be taken the wrong way? If so, maybe rewrite it or simply click back and don't reply.
