My Last "help On Buying Disc Brake Topic" I Promise
Ali C replied to Laurence--Trials's topic in Trials Chat
servo-wave doesn't necessarily mean extra power. As I showed in the Saint topic servo-wave means the lever alters the leverage ratio from low (plenty of pad clearance but little power) to high (not as much pad clearance but normal disk power) as you pull it. Having said that, it's perhaps the best hydraulic brake you're gonna find for that price range. -
haha no worries I was just messing.

I used one and replied

I am going to go against the grain and say leak. I won't say more, only that you'll be back with more questions once you have the same problem again and you'll see what I have written and think that perhaps I am not just an idiot. If not, I have just proved that I am indeed an idiot which I am willing to accept because I have suspected it for some time now.

opinions can be wrong

you see the orange (dusty) round thing in the "c" shaped cut-out? That's the push rod that pushes the piston in the lever. When the brake is first pulled the push rod is further around the cut-out which gives is a smaller mechanical advantage (less leverage on it) which also means the pads start off further away from the rotor than conventional systems. As you pull the lever further the push rod gets forced around the cut-out into a position with a higher mechanical advantage giving the brakes actual full stopping power. Because the mechanical advantage is changing throughout the pull of the lever I found it trickier to feather the brake, however Danny Mac seems to get on fine with them so perhaps I am just a bit ham fisted.

wasn't so much the power, more how it was applied. I found the servo-wave lever thingy to be a little unpredictable for stoppies and stuff.

I have just spent the day riding DH on my Orange five, it was fun! I recken if you can get an orange frame (either a five or 222 if you really just want to ride dh) as they are easily the best riding frames I have been on. I may only have 5" of travel on the back, but combined with some 6" travel forks to slacken the head angle it feels pretty amazing. It's also pretty light too which makes it more of an all rounder plus it makes it easier to push up the hills too. A full on DH bike would be cool if you only ride pretty steep fast tracks, otherwise 5" is pretty good for most UK stuff. I entered a dh race a couple of weekends ago on my Five and I was 5 seconds of the fastest rider of the day who was also on a 5" travel bike.

sweet pics! I enjoyed that demo, it was the first on the new (taller) rig and the first on my production Hex (I had flown back from Eurobike to Edinburgh airport the day before and slept in my van overnight). Do you mind if I post some on Facebook?

the vee brake probably has old cables and standard pads. New (linear) cables and some trials specific pads should make it rival (or surpass) the magura on your bike.

either you are telling some big porkies, or you did very well! I got: A subscription to The Albion bmx mag from my brother Battlefield 3 off my sister and brother-in-law Some glow sticks, some kit drying balls, a couple of "Simon's Cat" books and a SAD light off my parents.

as fun as that sounds I don't drink. I can't stand the taste of alcohol. My parents are very supportive of what I do and I know my brother and sister are pretty proud too, but I just don't feel I fit in intellectually.

I've discovered that as much as I love my family, I just don't seem to fit in. My brother and sister both have PHDs, my sisters husband teaches history at Durham Uni, my parents both used to teach too. I never even got any GCSEs. Just had a meal and as usual for any meal I have with my family, I didn't say a word throughout. They just talk about things that I either have no interest in (the latest wines they all like or something political) or I just don't understand. To make it worse they'll notice I can't add anything to the chat and try and talk bikes with me to try and get me involved....at least they are thinking of me I guess. I think I'll be going back to Blackpool asap to be alone with my thoughts.

I am at my parents (again), got here today, pretty bored already. My sister and her family (including cat) should be here soon so that will be fun. My brother isn't coming up this year. Not sure how long I'll stay here then I'll head off back to Blackpool. I got my dad some smellies, my mum some whisky, sister a folk music album, my brother-in-law a sudoku calendar and my niece some paints and a big cardboard box. I didn't ask for anything in particular for myself as there really isn't anything I wanted.

you need to check out Props "Owned" dvd, it's pretty amazing, some of the best riding I have seen!
-
I was talking about the vid though, not just the riding, unfortunately the best nicest rider in the world couldn't ever make that vid good.

a Rohloff chain put me in hospital, it was quite a strong high end one and the plate snapped sending me onto my stem groin first....not fun! Another vote for the Z610HX

I've been more negative before You must miss all my positive comments I make too The riding was pretty sweet, the truck driver and 3 whip down the set at the end was pretty impressive HOWEVER.......The editing was diabolic! I have seriously never seen editing as bad as that in a BMX vid. It's like they took all the bad points from a TGS video and ran with them. The "fake" zooming in on nearly every move just about had my pulling my hair out, the music was more like heavy machinery being dragged about and the camera was pretty shaky at times. Plus a lot of the riding was actually a bit sketchy, lots of bitch hops and 270 landings, that dead sailor off the roof to blatant bail (if they hadn't cut it out of the edit) was laughable too. So yeah, worst BMX vid I have seen.
-
quite possibly the worst bmx video I have ever seen.

been a while since an update, perhaps you should do something about that.
