  1. I sympathise. Im having the same wrist trouble by the sound of it. I broke my scapphoid (also not my fault) and the thing is being a bitch. Id be interested to know how you cope with riding, as I cant manage it for more than about 30 mins. Theres no way I could get through a section or do a comp at the moment either.
  2. You would have had a hard time finding it. Theres lots of random lanes round that part of the world. You could always ride up the lane to hook wood and jump the gate.
  3. Theres loggers yard about a mile from Hook Wood, and I have ridden there before, and noone seems to mind. Its in East Horsley. About 2-3 miles from Horsley train station.
  4. My ES3 has been good for about 2 years of riding, but I dont go stupid with it.
  5. http://biketrials.com/review/2003_Echo_Urban_L71.html Try this for more info
  6. Turns out that the ES3 is a shorter back end by 10mm and a shorter wheelbase by about 25mm. Are you running flat bars/ long stem or risers? I had a 70mm stem with easton carbon risers. It felt perfect like that.
  7. I had an echo ES3 which is essentially the same thing I think. Super nimble on the back wheel, nice and short wheel wheelbase (I had pashley forks). Strong enough. Good street bike. The steering was twitchy and lovely like a Pashley. really throwable. Built up into a really light bike. Didnt dent too easy either. I tap everything and it really liked it. Im your height. Nicest riding bike Ive had so far. I now have a GMP which isnt all that great. Id say go for it, unless youd prefer something long low and silver. Shame its not made of steel. Good little old school bike. One of the shortest backends around. I think its about 375mm. No idea what the exacrt wheelbase is though but its a little less than a 26 Mhz.
  8. You can tell chavs that its a trick nut. Then watch their confused faces as they work out how to give backies on it.
  9. I think Martin would have found it a lot easier than I would though. At least hes gone out there and tried. Be a shame if he didnt.
  10. Looks like Martin Hawyes found it hard.
  11. Didnt realise that you meant sidehops. I can do 7 forwards to both tyres and have done 4 as a sidehop, but i hate sidehops.
  12. I was about to say look at the heatsink site, for they are doing pads at 1/2 price. Alas I was beaten to it, so I wont say it now.
  13. Many Thanks Mr Physio It does seem to be improving albeit very slowly. Its good to get advice from someone who knows what they are talking about. I dont have full movement yet. If I bend my hand back actively its about 70% of my good hand. Passively its about 80% but hurts more. Under resistance it feels strong and doesnt hurt too much, unless I hop on the back wheel on my bike. I do this about once every 10 days just to see if I can cope with riding. If it hurts doing that, I stop right away. I just get paranoid about traumatic arthuritus. Many thanks again.
  14. How about having a brakeless section, where using the brakes incurs a dab. Loving the idea of trampolines as well. Trampoline high jump would be cool.
  15. It was confirmed, about 5 weeks ago at my local fracture clinic, but they seemed not to be too concerned. I had 2 weeks of physio on it previous to this as they thought it was just muscle damage. It just seems to be getting better very slowly. Im making an appointment tonight to see my GP next week. Its been about 9 weeks now since I broke it. Is it a good idea to try and stretch it, or to try a minimise how much I use it?
  16. I would regard wheel and cranks as revolutionary. And cassettes. Tyres and inner tubes. Bearings are revolutionary. Anyhting that revolves could be considered.
  17. Do you lose movement in the hand as well? I cant bend my hand back to the same extent as the other one as it gets to a certain point and starts to hurt.
  18. I didnt need to say that twice. Sorry.
  19. Back in the day the Pashley 26Mhz was the nuts, as it was the first decent and easily available trials frame. Round here everyone had 14" Konas. Also HS33s have always been the standard in braking for trials. No one has gone better. The pashley fork as well was fairly revolutionary. I can remember a time when it was like trying to find rocking horse s**t to find decent rigid forks. You could put Cannondales P bones in there for the same reason.

  21. Also most wheelbuilder would tell you to go away as it would be a hassle to build up. Best off getting a 32 hole rim.
  22. Tore muscles on my left shoulder blade about 7 years ago. It still gives me grief. It makes a nice clicking noise. That was from landing on my back, after jumping some steps in Guildford. Recently arrived at the same place as a BMW at the same time (not strictly trials but it was on the bike) and suffered an inelastic collision with his bonnet. Ended up with a dislocated left shoulder, only after telling the guy that I was okay and I will walk it off did I realise that my shoulder was in the wrong place. Luckily he didnt let me go anywhere until an ambulance turned up. 4 weeks later and the fracture clinic man told me that I had a broken scaphoid as well. I thought Id be the first to know that I had a broken wrist, but not so. 2 months on the shoulder is fine but my left hand is still sore. I cant ride yet as it feels like Im pulling my hand off. It sucks.
  23. Just dont like onzas. The quality looks shoddy. Can take a horse to water but you cant make it drink.
  24. Funnily enough, I have always sworn by GT85 for sticking grips. Says alot about its lubricating properties.
  25. What are peoples thoughts on the new Ashton? When is it available?
