  1. My bad, that question was aimed at anybody with a mental age of over 5.
  2. Worth a shot even as a mock up engine for test fitting? Might be useful as spares I guess? Haven't got the space/time to start the 1.8T project yet as i'm doing up the house but at that price I guess it can sit outside waiting for when i'm ready... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-1-8T-ENGINE-SPARES-OR-REPAIR-/271532828929?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f389e2901
  3. Seems a shame to put all that effort into cleaning that evo and then leave the inside of the wheels really dirty when it only takes a few mins to remove them, it stands out really badly now that you have done everything else so well
  4. Gave the Astra a wash as it was filthy, started polishing it but then got bored... probably should get that over with so I can get it sold :$ Just need to figure out a power steering issue thats developed since doing the gearbox, I must not have connected a plug or something. The Audi decided to sniff its older cousins bum, both need cleaning as they are getting a bit manky! Audi isn't getting terribly good MPG, about 34mpg doing 80 on the motorways and 24 in the city, lots lower than what you guys claim to get in your older 1.8ts?
  5. Not decided yet, I did think a 1.8t a4 or passat just so it could donate spares when I 1.8t my 924. Something more barge like would be better though, I guess a 90s 5 series, 9-5 or a6 would be my main choices
  6. They are amazingly good value for money, obviously the parts aren't as good as the equivalent price hard tails but they aren't far off! The frames are sound, I had the previous one and really liked it apart from I wanted a smaller frame and my giant came along cheap so I grabbed that. I checked out the new version last time I went to decathlon, looks better made/designed so I'd assume it feels even better than the one I had. I'm going near there today so could test ride one potentially and let you know?
  7. I'm supposed to buy an estate but far prefer the idea of something small and fun like that...
  8. Those clios have aged well, they look really fun too. What did you pay for it?
  9. What a knob. Astra is so close to being ready, annoyingly a bleed nipple snapped on a caliper and the dump plug is very rounded. Got some fun coming my way tomorrow... Hopefully it'll be mechanically sorted then and I can crack on with making it shiny. Clutch and gearbox work a treat now at least Porsche really needs some love, coil leaked all it's oil so I whacked on an old spare. Driveshafts need replacing, lumpy idle needs curing and the car looks like a feeling state as the rattle canned sections are all cracking up, I can't afford a real respray this year so I'm thinking graffiti paint like robins got on the mx5...
  10. Managed to get a new Sachs dual mass flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and hydraulic slave for £260 posted the other day (usually closer to £400), so that's on the Astra now and the gearbox is pretty much on too (doing it by myself and cant quite get the last 1cm on, so i'll use some threaded rod in the mounting holes to evenly slide it on). Can't wait to get this sodding car out of the way! Should be easy to sell though seeing as it has one of the more common and expensive issues resolved+ It will have a service and i'll get the polisher on the paint work to liven it up again. We got the A3 yesterday and it's alright, I was surprised as I thought it would be dull as hell like the Golf we had but this feels fairly lively and handles very well even on the budget tyres upfront (i'll replace those with decent ones when winter comes). I'm not sure if the S lines have different springs/shocks but the ride is firm yet forgiving on the larger stuff, smaller stuff isn't too well catered for though. I've got a feeling it'll get a remap as my girlfriend rather enjoys putting her foot down in it and it could do with a bit more ooomph.
  11. It has gems like this: George you don;t even live in Bumgay anymore?
  12. Make it central, no excuses then i guess?
  13. Keep it as a parts car for another?
  14. It was an agreed £20 per corner, which is cheaper than others round here but still expensive compared to places back home They did the fronts, then told me when paying they couldn't do the backs. Can the front even be done if the back isn't straight?
  15. Went for a 4 wheel alignment, i specifically asked if they had the tools to do the 924/super beetle back end and they said yes.... They didn't and they also couldn't figure out how to adjust it anyway so just did the fronts. Facepalm. Now to find some people who are competent and possibly buy/make the special tool, waste of £40
  16. It was a joke matey, I'm more of a gaffer tape over holes kinda guy
  17. Nothing a bit of chicken wire, newspaper, slop and a mismatched rattle can won't fix surely?
  18. Weird, this astra DMF has no movement at all.... I'm assuming the exploded clutch slave may have wedged its guts inside, once I get the right sized torx bit to remove I shall find out
  19. Finally got the astra gearbox off, what an absolute ball ache! Not looking forward to reassembling it....
  20. I started an RC car club at school recently, we are using my old cars and spares currently. We have been donated 2 Tamiyas which is pretty cool and the kids are currently building an off road beasty and some Mardave style cars. I've funded it all so far as the school won't support it, but at least it gets them into engineering looking forward to 3D printing some stuff for them, means we will have a quick way to repair many of the parts once they grasp CAD properly
  21. Yup, they are well easy to remove, never refitted them though but they don't look any harder than others. Make sure you have the correct spline tool for the hinge bolts before starting!
  22. To be fair anything will be more fun than a standard caddy engine? 1.8t makes most sense as it's in the middle of performance and economy
  23. I need an engine support bar so that I can get the sub frame off and gearbox out on the Astra. I made this in just over an hour, it has sliding and adjustable feet and hangers so you can adjust it to where you want it. Just needs some protective feet (i'm thinking wood?) and it's ready for action. I love free stuff.
