The seals are cheap, it's the fitting that's not as you have to disassemble the cylinder head to do so and a special tool is required to keep the timing chain in place which most garages don't have as its specific to the 2.2 diesel. I would attempt it myself but I can't do a great deal of work to my car as I'm recovering from a back operation. An a6 would definitely be fine robin, I will try my best to avoid a b5 passat unless something really good comes up as I think they are pretty foul looking but beggers can't be choosers. A saloon will be ok as long as it has folding seats, but unfortunately most German saloons don't seem to have them! it was an expensive optional extra on the 3 series and a4 iirc. The 1.9tdi engines do seem to be the ones to go for, I'm going to try and convince my parents to sell me their b6 a4...I know that's a solid car Are Volvo diesels actually any good? I seem to remember them being sooty ford lumps? I do like the v40s!

Cars got a fuelling problem again, got a few things to check but it's looking like it'll be injector seals again which is close to a £500 job if that is the case, the cars getting broken for parts as its worth something like that, can't be spending anymore on this sodding thing! 4k in under 3 years is pretty awful... I do like the car but it's more head over heart these days... So I will need something to replace her if that's the case. Can't really see me getting much more than 1k of parts out of the Saab unless im super lucky, so that's all I have to play with. I would ideally want an estate as I use my car to take me and my girlfriend to and fro uni, deisel preferable for the long term but petrol will suffice for now I guess if the budget doesnt get me much. I'm thinking audi a4 or BMW 3 series again just because they were solid cars and parts are plentiful. Are there any engines I should avoid? I know the Audi diesels are solid, but that's about it.... I have been looking on auto trader but there's naff all about locally for my money Edit: German only, that's my only rule. No more gm for me that's for sure!

Yeah thats what I had, picked the whole lot up with 3 good tyres for £25 But really, looking out for some secondhand wheels may be a better bet, theres plenty of wheels that fit your car due to a saturated market of fakes, so plenty to choose from for not much
-
Do you have the 5 spoke alloys Mike? Annoyingly I scrapped mine a year or so ago, they were painted nicely in gunmetal and only 1 wheel had a chip! I didnt think anybody would want them Wheels are super easy to do, although ideally you want some others to be rolling around on unless you fancy doing one at a time and then use your spare. You dont need any special tools, its a really easy job. Go to poundland and use thier primer and black paint on the inside of the wheel for a bit of money saving

Very jealous of the s4 guy, that's very yummy!

Yeah ECP and GSF are the 2 worst companies I have experienced for that, its even impossible to get them on the phone... Toms Passat is really growing on me, it looks great! Dans A4 makes me miss mine No progress on my car/vans as of late, 4 more weeks til i can drive it again though back operations suck...

Yeah troyston, your mate sounds like a total dick. We are all guilty of silly driving, but what he did was just moronic. Punch him in the balls so he doesn't breed please
-
Loving that Alex out of interest...why have you got speakers in the boot still?
-
I ended up laser cutting new badges matey gonna cut a bunch more, seems quite a few people are after them! Thanks anyway! If you happen to find a bumper for my car then that would be awesome
-
Yeah I think £500 seems about right thanks! And yeah Prawn I did buy it and I may be persuaded to sell it if the price is right I had some plans involving a MK3 golf estate but with the old back issue worsening its getting more and more unlikely

No, look at it! Its a rusty old beast haha. Last mot'd 6 years ago, don't think it had any advisories either Starts on a button and everything functions as it should. I can't imagine it being worth any more than £500, and even thats hopeful. It's worth quite a bit in parts and scrap but i would rather it was restored.

A slightly more realistic price would have been helpful!

1983 VW T25 (or T3 strictly speaking) Doka (Crewcab), 1.9 petrol watercooled with 54k and FSH. Mehcanically a beauty of a machine, the engine purrs, i havent heard another as good as this A project for sure however mechanically sound and an easy job to make it into a rolling restoration. All the rot is visible, as far as I can see from stripping off the old rusty shit, its a solid old beast underneath! The photos are of it before I stripped off all the floor and some side paneling How much do you guys think its worth? I know they are rather bummed and scene these days so make a decent price when in good condition. I'm so out of the loop on car stuff I don't want to sell it but i'm having back surgery in a few weeks and I have to go privately because the NHS is so f**king slow and will mess up my PGCE year in my degree. I also have my Commer to do, which will take rather a long time seeing as I live 3 hours away from it Depressing times indeed, fingers crossed I can find a way to keep it as I have a real atatchment to the beasty

I toyed around last night with my car. The steering servo was originally mounted upside down and secured to the top chassis plate and was taking up room for my battery pack so I have mounted the servo on its side on the opposite side of the car, and made up new linkages (maintaining the servo saver) and servo mounts. The ESC can now mount on the servo and keep more weight towards the front of the car as well as evening off the weight of the battery on the other side. I also made a new top chassis plate that has made the car far stiffer than before and does away with the 2 servo mounting points and accomodates the widened steering pivots i will paint up the chassis plate at some point to tidy it up The battery now has a better way of securing on too! Ignore the dirt and grime please, its dusty as hell on the farm! I will rebuild it when i go back to uni Timeline kinda photo to give an idea of how its changed

Good stuff on the sale! I am currently hunting for a cheap buggy for when i am home but the search isnt going well! Tempted to start building my own... Reely is going well, seems to get more fun each time i use it! Last night the 2 lower bolts to the front hubs decided to come loose and went missing so i ended up with plenty of front camber resulting in far better handling! I read up and it seems having a biot of camber makes a good difference so i drilled out my upper arms to allow for a little bit of adjustment. I am going to make some alloy adjustable top links later on, as well as steering links as mine arent adjustable and it would be nice to sort my tracking! I am also thinking that i should source some carbon fibre sheet to make some new chassis plates up, certainly make the thing lighter! Polishing a turd...awww yeahhh My wheel hubs have cracked at every point luckily i have some spare wheels around! EDIT: Top links made! Some nylon tube, nuts, threaded rod and lots of araldite later... Maximum camber upfront:

Tamiya tt01 is a good cheap starter car. Anything 4wd, preferably electric and a touring car will do the job. Lock out the rear diff, get some drift tyres, lower the suspension and run the rear harder, have lots of fun

Is it worth enough to get you a decent modern basher? If so, sell it! Otherwise bash it Cheers Tom much appreciated and Err that looks rather yummy, more pics please! I really want a new shell, but lack of money and the fact i have smacked mine rather alot means i probably shouldnt for a while The wheels i ordered for my car when i first got it finally arrived haha! £5 for 4, including tyres, and they have an offset of 5 or 6mm. Looking forward to trying them out and seeing how quick my car is now (hard to tell with the drifts on). I also received a heatsink and fan for my motor using that free £5 ebay thingy
-
Really cant argue for a tenner! What upgrades are you planning?
-
just got a heatsink and fan for my rc car, girlfriend got some make up shit-cheers dude!
-
They are on ebay so make me an offer!
-
On ebay a ready to roll working example can be had for as low as £60 if you look around, i have a kyosho that im going to sell soon, i can convert it to electric too if you are interested? I doubt my cars worth much, although stick the word 'drift' in front of an rc car on ebay and people go nuts Lights are on a seperate battery pack (car needed ballast in the front anyway) but being LEDS they consume virtually nothing so wouldnt reduce run time noticeably

Suspension Seatpost, Fork And Rear Shock Questions
CurtisRider replied to CurtisRider's topic in Bike Chat
The rc ones are crap though! I am going to put this idea on the back burner now, realisitically its not worth the hassle, and i have some far better plans up my sleeve for something else Thanks everybody for your help! -
I got lucky the other day on ebay and scored 3 servos (2 metal geared), 2 receivers, 1700 nicad sanyo battery pack, schumacher 11t esc, futaba 13t esc, mtronik 13t esc, hpi 17t motor and a peak vantage 10t motor for £26 posted Keeping the servos for a design project, battery pack, futaba esc, hpi motor and a receiver. The rest can be sold and make me enough money to pay for it all, score! The car is now pretty lairy with the 17t on (had a stock 27t on before), i am looking forward to the carpark clearing so i can play
