  1. A loose vac hose... Which I don't understand as I replaced them all with fresh tight fitting hose, and refitted them 3 times each to check! The hose to the turbo looks a little shorter so maybe they snipped the end to get a better seal? £180 lighter for it that's all I know
  2. Why are you watching two TVs in the same room anyway?
  3. Car works, yippeeeeee! Now to fit the incorrectly coloured bumper.... Not so great
  4. f**ks sake, went to collect the car and it's not fixed. It was sluggish as hell and the code bounced up within seconds of leaving the forecourt. Apparently it was fine on the test drive... Yeah right this is really pissing me off now, I just want a fudging working car! Instead I have a car that sounds even more like a tractor, is as fast as a tractor and has a completely off coloured bumper. f**k.
  5. Vac solenoids arrived, still ran in limp mode:( Caved and took it to the local Vauxhall dealer as im mega busy fitting my mums new kitchen and need my car ready for tuesday when i go back to uni. It ended up being a broken wire somewhere (I'll find out when i go collect the car), glad I got them to look at it now as I would have probably never found it! Bumpers sprayed and lacquered, colour match is questionable.... But what did I expect getting it from halfords? Bit of a bummer but no doubt Itll need spraying yet again soon anyway haha!
  6. Try criminal jeans, always on offer at house of Fraser and they seem to fit your criteria
  7. I have a hardly used zebdi kicking ago in the shed
  8. Steal a cat for a few evenings?
  9. I've been meaning to say thank you Adam for the tickets! I had a great day, you raced really well, one heck of a lead! I tried to find you in the pits a few times but no luck Cars still waiting for new solenoids and running like crap so I figured I should sort out my bumper.... For the millionth time! Got halfords to mix me some 1k as I don't have an air fed mask for 2k, scored some free paint off them too which is nice Splitter was torn yet again and has worn through I several places from scraping, bumper had a few spiderwebs in the paint from pigeon impacts.... Spare old bumper that I never got round to finishing (fairly split in places), car looks pretty rad... Prepped splitter with base coat Prepped bumper with primer Hoping to get them both sanded down again tomorrow ready for a proper top coat, then several coats of lacquer to make them super shiny.
  10. Tom, Mind if I tag along with you?
  11. Tested all three of my solenoids, none of them clicked and one got super hot as of it was shorting inside but all three get 10.3v from the car. Vac pump works fine. Surely all 3 can't have died at once? Edit: used a car battery as the source of power to test solenoids If that makes any difference?
  12. I got a CEL last night and my car went into limp mode, with a very deep exhaust note when on lower revs. I checked the code and got a p0246 power train turbo waste gate solenoid high. I didn't really know what that that meant, but I knew a common issue was a dirty EGR and MAP sensor, so off they came for a good clean as well as the manifold they mount to. Code was cleared and all seemed well for about 5 miles. A fresh CEL popped up with 2 new codes P0244 power train charger waste gate solenoid a range/performance P0234 over boost condition Now I wondered if this over boost was down to a dodgy vacuum hose, so I replaced them all with fresh ones. Codes were cleared and the car ran fine for about 1 mile. After some research I found some people in similar situations, most did the fixes I tried. Possible other things may be a faulty boost control valve (solenoid), dodgy crank sensor (I had a starting problem a month back that was crank sensor related, but after clearing the code the problem has not returned), dirty MAF or a dead turbo. Turbo is 2 years old, intercooler 3. No signs of trouble on them, pipes all tight and seemingly hole free. Wastegate operates smoothly by hand, no visual signs of wear on the linkage. Boost was great before, with CEL the car is slow to 3k then comes alive, suggesting turbo and intercooler are working fine. It may be worth noting my cruise control does not work with the CEL light on. So what next? Anybody got any bright ideas? Have I missed something really obvious? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I only have a week before I go to uni, so really need to get it fixed before I go as I have nowhere to work on it!
  13. Another vote for borrowing an impact gun, speeds things up no end
  14. Wicked cheers Adam if there's free tickets then we can definitely go!
  15. Well if I can nab some that would be great I can only make Monday though! Hopefully going with Sarah, otherwise I'll tag along with my friends Dan and Peter (not Bracewell). Is Lauren coming? Also meant to say, thanks Adam! (if I have some haha)
  16. Don't worry George, let them have them, you got there first
  17. Adam can I have those tickets? That's if Georges mates don't have them
  18. Well that buggers with my plans then fingers crossed that it doesn't happen
  19. True that, you should see my collection, got about 500 of the buggers ready for teaching next year!
  20. There's something about LEDs all over a car that I like, plate LEDs look soooooo much tidier than halogens!
  21. Awesome as always! Prefer the other wheels though! Are a set of BMW 15" steels and 15" alloys worth anything these days? Just noticed some in the shed, alloys have 4 meaty tyres, steels have 4 tyres close to the legal limit. Not sure if people would want them to use up for drifting or something
  22. Just welded an exhaust with flux cored mig wire.... That shits horrific! It does the job but it's mega messy stuff.
  23. I'm finding my seat can't go high enough, reach wise I plan on a shorter stem as I can't be too far forward currently due to my back not liking it. Once my back has healed more, then I can refit a longer stem. I realise my budgets holding me back, but I can't go much further than that currently. Luckily I have seen several frames identical to mine (with the original shock rather than an air shock like I have fitted) going for £60-80 which is more than I expected I looked at the giant trance, but have struggled to find a good example in my size unless it's a full build (which tend to be pretty decent specs out of my price range). I'm back on uk soil tomorrow so if the Marin still exists I will go and take a look, see if it's seems genuine and also try and bang her down a bit (£300 sounds about right?) I realise it's not super cheap, but for some reason there seems to be a lack of local bikes around the price currently
  24. I seem to remember that d/c the maf made the car run in limp mode on mine? Have you tried a fuel additive? I have found forte to be very effective on all the cars I've tried it on (diesel cars, never tried it on a petrol)
