  1. Something is definitely wrong in the setup, headsets bearings don't 'just break'.
  2. Just enough to stop the play. Pics of how it's set up when you put it together would be useful.
  3. That's too tight - but shouldn't be killing the bearings.
  4. Who's due to be the third distributor? Chatted with Echo about the situation recently and they said there would only be 2 for the foreseeable future. Of course anyone is entitled to buy from overseas, however Echo have been made aware by all their official dealers (not just the UK) of the current increasing grey import trend, and they are keen to stop it with various measures now in place. Back to the question that started this discussion, I guess if the bike was sold as a mate, then unfortunately there is clearly no warranty Mike, although if Jack was so kind as to help you out in the event of a problem that would be pretty mega. I must admit I am becoming slightly concerned by the number of grey import parts floating about (advertised on places like Facebook), as its not good for the stability of the market, giving the official dealers less confidence in continuing to support that brand. You also then get people trying it on with warranty claims with the official channels, since their source is unable to provide such a service, but I guess you pay your money and make your choice! Of course people with nouse will always try and make a few extra quid on the side, but long term its not sustainable IMO unless they decide to turn it into a proper business (and therefore have to deal with the associated costs). Longest post I've made for a while! Guess I'm just pretty passionate about the situation, since what we do has to support 6 employees and the requirements of riders throughout the world.
  5. There are two UK importers though, remember - TartyBikes and SelectBikes - however, I believe SelectBikes haven't had any of these bikes in yet. Weird.
  6. File some notches into the cams.
  7. Weird that mine always seem to be awesome after having come down Blackstone Edge then
  8. It's a Tech lever, with a Trial caliper, but looking at the state of the bolts and the fact that the bore cap has been changed, I wouldn't say it's all that new. Probably fine but if the rotor or pads are a bit shagged it won't work well at all (which is the problem with most used Hope brakes).
  9. Is the Hope brand new? Is it definitely a Mono/Tech Trial (not an X2)?
  10. Boom! Out of the two you linked to, the Hope is a better brake for trials. But - it's more expensive.
  11. Haha, I can usually get away with not shaving for a week being quite fair and it growing slowly, so Movember was always going to be a challenge
  12. Pretty much, think he had a little bit at the start of the month... Gav is a hairy f**ker.
  13. Be interesting when Gav next has a shave... quite a lot of growth there! Thanks to all those who have donated so far!
  14. For the costs involved in making that usable again, it's cheaper to buy a complete hub.
  15. Have the same problem - probably manage to ride about 1/10th of what you do, so I'd say you're doing very well! Maybe trying to get out with other riders sometimes will help progress?
  16. 10kg is a realistic weight. Most 26" bikes are around this. Getting anywhere near 9 takes a pretty careful selection of parts.
  17. No. Would be easy to make though.

    From scratch!? Amazing!
  19. The 2010 has a slightly better spec - but - you'll struggle to find one now.
  20. Thank you! I'm amazed at the donation amounts so far, I had imagined a couple of hundred donations at £1-2, but it's quickly mounting up! Haha, yeah I think Mark's will kind of look good, in a Primark model kind of way
  21. Yeah we'll let him off I am going to have to get a bit of a head start too, or I'll have nothing to show at the end of the month. Gav will need about 2 hours to cultivate something that resembles a squirrel's tail.
  22. Yes, have considered it.
