Oh wait, Faceparty! I read Facebook.. Yea last time I went on there they said my numerous accounts from back in the day had all gone.
-
But I feel compelled to express how much of a wank song that was for myself! My word.

I'm quite pleased 'epic' has about died. Now it's just 'good times' 'bad times' 'happy times' 'everything f*cking times' I'm waiting to see the back of!

I never usually comment on videos, but that was ace, the track made it

A cob and a bun are different things, even in Derbyshire... -
To check engine mounts - get a helper, have the bonet open, put the handbrake on firmly, put it in gear and try and pull off (in reverse in your case, may want your helper to do this so you can see the engine yourself) if your engine is moving excessive amounts then it's safe to say one of them is shagged, and it should be clear which one. If it's not that, and assuming the noise is coming from the front, I'd be looking at wishbone's, bushes in that area and associated captive nuts and bolts and such. Though these kinds of things will generally make noises when you're on/off power quickly.

It's going to be a 1.8 16v KR removed from a 1988 MK2 GTI...

To knock the pressure down that much would probably just heat the fuel up, which is obviously bad news! I'm not sure what pressure a standard 'rocco pump would run at - could always get a cheap guage and find out? And I would go with the bike pump if you're on a budget, will cost peanuts, you can guarantee it will work and cuts out the need for a regulator which is just more expense. Could probably use any bike pump really, they'll all deliver about the same pressure I would've thought. I know R1 pumps have an interupter so it will cut temporarily rather than over fuel and flood your engine so others will likely be the same... And Tom_ you could probably pick up a similar engine for similar cash closer to you on CGTI or E38 forum Doing is the only way to learn.

£70? It's not thaaaat far from Oxford

Sure you don't want a 1.8 16v to drop in it for not alot of money? I've got 3 spare As for fuel pump, the last thing you want is an injection pump for carbs as they put out 3-5 BAR, and you want about 3 PSI! So you can either buy something like a Facet red/silver top and a fuel pressure reglator (as I have because it was my birthday and they came up at a reasonable price) orrrr the cheaper + probably better option - get the pump off the same bike, as it will deliver the right pressure so you've no need for a reglator = less pissing around No idea about somewhere to set them up, I've only just finished sorting mine out 2 weeks later! I'll be able to give you enough tips and links to do it yourself now though

Me and my mate once noticed this lad (who we didn't like much) s front door was slightly open at his house, so we went into the house, robbed all of his Pogs and made a run for it down the hill on my scooter as the getaway vehicle and hid in the woods - the police were called, we got a bollocking. We robbed almost all of the brand new books they got in at school and burnt them. My mate got the game 'Skitchin' on the Mega Drive, and we thought it was a MINT idea, so we thought we'd give it a go, however we couldn't do it quite the same as on the game, so we waited at the bottom of my street for a car to come by. We ended up holding on to the tow bar of a 4x4 for (what seemed like) 5 minutes completely stationary... Obviously we had been seen grabbing on >< I once pushed my mate sat on a skateboard up the corridor at school which was a good couple of hundred meters long at full pelt, into a door at the bottom of it, which completely smashed the window when he went flying through it we won the 'Everest double glazing award for wantant destruction' for that. I got taken home from school once for flicking stones off a 15cm ruler at passing vehicles. I've made 1001 fires that got well out of control, fire engine only ever had to come once though when I set half a field alight.. Can't really think of anymore off the top of my head... Will report back. You aught to try a tin of paint!

I don't think there's really much room for improvement there, that would look orrrrrrsum dood!

Ha, this is why I have a permanent ban on E38 forum.

Yeah you're right, I just looked reminded me of it is all. It's far from awful though, I know which I'd rather have!

Looks like the Venom show car. What's the difference with the 9n badge?

The takeoff at the bottom of the manifold takes a vac from across the injector ports, but the way I've blocked them (with 1p pieces ) means I've blocked off the channel for this vac. K-Jet basically relies on the fuel metering head ontop of the airbox to work, the more air that goes through it, the more fuel it gives the engine - simple. If I were to use an airbox on the carbs and just plumbed the metering head into that, in theory it should do exactly the same job! I'm sure there must be a reason why it wouldn't be that simple though...
-
It was K-Jet, so there weren't actually any real electrics for it, it's all mechanical. I started giving a reason why it wouldn't have worked, but then I realised it still could have with a custom airbox.. The bodge is a touch of class, but I will be getting a proper choke if this sorts the starting issues. It'd be rude not to when theres a choke blank in the MK2 dash to put one in! There's a vacuum takeoff for the oil breather on a standard KR manifold that I was told I could use, but the way I've blocked the injector holes means it no longer creates a vacuum. The manifold I'm getting (just another modified standard one) has those holes plated over properly so I'll be able to use it, and the ports have been extended too, so it'll be easier to bolt it all down too. For £20 I can't go far wrong...
-
To be honest, I never even thought of that... I'm sure there's a good reason nobody has done it though! If not It's such a b*****d! When it goes, it goes well, but getting it going in the first place is the biggest f*ck around ever! And the hoses keep sucking themselves off the carbs, hopefully the new hoses I've ordered will sort it, and I'm getting a new manifold too so I can actually have a servo I did a quality bodge earlier to operate the choke though - its 2m of bike brake cable, with half an old canti brake on the end that comes out of the bonnet and hangs in the door I'm hoping it'll make it a fraction easier to start it
