ive just got my heatsink coust v- pads back and it works a fook load better than when i had the short ones on my magura, both used on a dirty smooth rim that never got cleaned

easy solution........get a v-brake

hows the fact its a v-brake a con and ultimates are alot more expensive than a magura. the caliper alone is 60 quid my avid ultimate v-brake kicks the hell out of maguras
