  1. Some good riding there, where is it ? I'm sure I recognize that spot.....
  2. I think the freewheel may be at the back on this particular bike, so a 18 tooth would be ridiculous. If the freewheel is on the back wheel and not on the cranks like more expensive bikes then I would reccomend an acs claws 14 tooth available here http://www.wadescycles.co.uk/shop/asp/prod...s&showtop=1
  3. I think that the main reason why trials is not as well exposed as other forms of biking is because it harder to relate to. For example most people can appreciate someone going quickly down a hill or struggling up a steep climb on a bike that looks something like any "normal" bike. Whereas most low long seatless trials bikes look nothing most people have seen before. The reason i first started riding was becasue I saw Hans Rey getting up rocks on a bike that looked very similiar to the one I used for XC. I think that far more people would take up riding and it would recieve greater coverage if more people rode bikes similair in build to Ryan Leech, Jeff Lenosky, Jarimor spensy and Petr Kraus . I think that videos such as Prague and Ryan Leechs sections in the Kranked films are more likely to get someone into trials than if they were to watch a gap/tap/sidhop video such as the zoo series.... As impressive as some of the huge moves are, I think it would do trials a world of good if we moved away from the big move, cut, big move etc+heavy music style of late and produced more fluid videos with flowing lines on bikes with gears, suspension on the front and saddles rant over

Good stuff, nice to see a bike that gets a good thrashing every now and then edit-I prefer them in red though my ashton http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....=88191&st=0
  5. This time of year a good sharp grind and some decent pads are a must but in the summer certain pads such as zoo pads work well with a little tar http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=41481 - has lots of reviews of brake pads I would recommend koxx red pads and a grind for winter

Ali C - thanks for the tip on removing the tensioner pin-my chain had been skipping and this has sorted it+looks loads nicer Im not too sure about the cost as it was built in stages but I think I spent around £1000 so far. It actually feels quite long to ride, its good fun for street stuff and seems to cope with natural well but I do think the front needs to be higher as it is hurting my back slightly. thanks for your comments
  9. Built this up about a fortnight ago, not too sure if i like it or not... http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q205/hu...shton-first.jpg quick spec 06 urban forks avid juicy disc 04 hs33 with braided hose and koxx red pads echo 07 rims chris king classic rear/hope xc front hubs middleburn superpro cranks rohlhoff rear tensioner zoo bar/stem can anyone recommend some changes eg stems to make it feel a bit more lively?
  10. On the back of the largest cog you should see 3 pins or small screws. If your cassette has three pins then file the tops carefully until the pin slides through the other cogs and out of the other side (smallest cog end) . If your cassette has 3 small screws-most shimano cassetes-use a small allen key to remove them and then the cassete should fall apart leaving you with cogs and spacers
  11. I have only used bikedock when select/tarty bikes do not have the products in stock. When bikedock has the products in stock they have taken about a week to deliver, best not to bother when the item is out of stock as it can take months. I always order by telephone when dealing with them because their website is often innacurate.
  12. Heatsink blues are good in the dry but nowhere near as good as the koxx reds in the wet. I have run both pads and the koxx reds are far better for this time of year
  13. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=41481 pretty much all pads have been reviewed in here ^
  14. I haven't fallen off my bike for over three days now. I'm pretty chuffed with that.
  15. Engineering apprentice at airbus loads of fun and good money. Anyone else here work at airbus or go to deeside college?
  16. Usually vans rowleys-similair sole to try alls but cheaper and grippier If im feeling saucy I wear my tryalls becuase I value the extra ankle protection
  17. I recntly got a echo 2007 rear rim. They have a different profile to them and have smaller holes drilled in them. Seems much stronger. They seem to be holding a grind pretty well too. The 2006 ones just seem plain weak to me, Ive seen them bend badly on quite small gaps.
  18. Cant borrow, the manager does not approve of that sort of thing.
  19. Im in north wales. I know its very unlikely that anywhere will have one in stock, especially on such short notice but I thought someone might know something. I'd imagine most bike shops main source of repair based income is puncture repairs (what with a tube being about 30p trade price). Thanks for the replys anyway
  20. I can get one through the bike shop, but i want one this weekend really as ive just bought some new hubs/rims. I should have said that first :$ sorry
  21. You should be able to find a second hand onza t pro on ebay or in the for sale section here. That will cost about the same as a new saracen but will have much better parts and geometry. Also instead of buying the saracen and upgrading parts, it might work out cheaper in the long run to buy a better bike to begin with.
  22. I would recommend either an FSA pig or FSA pig dh pro (sealed bearing version) very good value for money. If you are a fairly smooth rider the cane creek c2 and s2 might be worth a look too.
  23. I have been wheel building for my local bike shop for a few years and I am interested in getting myself a wheel building/truing stand for home use. I have found plenty for sale on the internet but I can only pay cash at the moment. Does anyone know of a non web based bike shop selling wheel truing stands? Thanks for your help Huw
  24. I have a raven 6 long. I am 5 foot 8 and after trying many stems i found a 120*20 Base stem was the most comfotable to use. Other than that I would recommend the koxx 130*20 or the echo 130*15 stems from tartybikes.
  25. Hayes sole are one piston/pot similair to most cable operated discs. You can adjust the distance you have to move the lever before you stop by turning the 5mm allen keys behind each pad. I have them on my xc bike and once I moved the pads quite close in they began to slow me down well, but Im not too sure if they have the lock needed for trials use.
