  1. Get a 12mm nut, weld it to a bolt, and use a spanner? Alun
  2. A lot of people have water bled brakes that have been working flawlessly for years. For rust to occur, you must have both water and oxygen, which is present in air. As the whole idea of bleeding is to prevent air being in the system, the brake must be poorly bled for anything to rust. As well as this I'm sure maguras are made of aluminium, which, funnily enough, doesn't rust! To prevent freezing, use antifreeze (the clue is in the title) or alchohol (don't know if anyone uses this though). Try turning off caps lock too, and if you're feeling crazy, try using punctuation! Alun
  3. If it were me I'd just take it down to the nearest bike shop and ask them to have a look, they should be able to help you, and suggest what to do next. Alun
  4. Will asked them if he could use the footage for himself on the day didn't he? They said yeah. Depends what you're using if for I'd imagine. Personal use is OK for sure, even if you post it up here or anything, doubt you'd get found out?! Judging by their speed they'd never get round to doing anything about it anyway! Who where the other riders on't DeeVeeDee? The ones right after us? Alun

    Speed!

Three cheers for road bikes! I miss mine too, really helped keep me fit aswell. All the fastest speeds seem fairly similar on road bikes. I was crying one time though, I got to the bottom of the hill and my eyes where massive and full of tears from the wind! No doubt there where some flies there too! Keep 'em coming. Alun
  6. Cheers, I get it now. Was a little slow :$ Alun
  7. Hey, welcome to the forum. I used to ride road, cross country and track with the Welsh Talent Team, a development team for young people with racing potential, but then I got chucked off for smoking and they've taken the bikes off me 'cos they where on loan from them. I also used to do dirt jumps in the local forest, but my bike was made up of cheap parts off other bikes, and broke in the end. I have no money so the frame (old ex-ile/ess) is just in my garage, weeping...! Really enjoyed my road and jump bikes, had a great summer last year on them. I've also noticed that I'm not so fit since then. The t-pro is a good choice for starting on, a lot of people choose it as their first bike. Great value, and easily upgradeable in the future if you want to. Alun EDIT: just noticed you joined up at 6.51 our time, thought why the hell would you be up? Then realised your from the other side of the world! Whats it like to ride there?
  8. Devvo's class, he's a right bellend though, I'm suprised he hasn't had a hiding yet. A few of my mates went to Doncaster, and this guy came up to them after taking LSD, exactly the same accent as Devvo, asking if there was any pussy about! Also check out this for some of his songs. Alun
  9. Perhaps you could afford two second-hand bikes? How much is your DHer worth? Alun
  10. At least we'll die looking cool Oh hangon, no Alun
  11. Get really confident on the front wheel, go to far a few times and learn how to come off if you can. I can just put both feet down, only just missing my manly parts, but it makes you know that going to far isn't going to hurt! I use my legs alot more than my arms, it's much easier in my opinion, as your legs are stronger. Also, try running a little less pressure in the tyre, this helps it bounce better. Hope I've helped, Alun EDIT: Try and point your toes downwards a bit too, and cick backwards slightly too, I found that helped me
  12. Wow! I'm amazed at those! I really, really really like them, awesome riding, and great photography too, very original stuff. Respect! Alun

    Speed!

I was thinking back to when I cycled for the Welsh Talent Team (before being chucked off for smoking ) and when I had a road bike. The fastest I went on it was 49 mph, just wandering how fast everyone else has been? Obviously this was down a hill! And I picked up my speed slowly quite a distance before it, nearly hitting a motorbike coming at me! (it was on a 'back lane', narrow minor road, whatever you call them) Before this though, I had 47.2 mph as my max speed on my computer! It was really weird, I thought the computer couldn't register any higher or something. Two different hills, on different days, and yes, I had reset the top speed! So, how fast have you been? Alun
  14. Would be fun, but what you can do is pretty limited there, nice find though Alun
  15. I meant the lockring that holds the bearings snug! I know they dont screw off lol, and no, the threads are the same way around. Sorry, I didn't make that clear. So do they? Alun EDIT: Is it the lockring threads that are the opposite way around? I'm confuzzled!
  16. Nice one. Does little to no skips mean it has skipped? I'm thinking of getting one when / if I get the money. Do they come undone like the ACS? Alun
  17. Haha, I like that! What exactly does the job involve? The running of the trials section of the website? Sales? What? Alun
  18. I don't see much point in them either, I think a comfy pair of tracksuit trousers and a t-shitr or jumper is ideal. Gloves are the only thing I wear for trials, and shin pads sometimes, though I really should wear a helmet... Alun
  19. Ooh, I like the look of it. The disks look small and cute though! Especially compared to the maybe overly beefed up dropouts? Alun
  20. Evening all, just been on the avid website and was looking at the BB7 and BB Road, they look very similar, just wandering what the difference is between them if anyone knows? Cheers, Alun
  21. The larger the area, the greater the friction, but lesser the pressure as it is spread over a larger area, pad size makes no difference at all to performance, may have an affect on modulation etc. though, I dont know about that. Alun
  22. Bigger pads don't mean better breaks, as bigger pads give less pressure. And I don't think the pads are any bigger anyway, it's the slave cylinder that has a larger diameter, giving more leverage (or mechanical advantage to be correct). Just thought I'd clear that up. Alun
  23. Wheeled equivilent of a supermodel/babe/stunner/all of these. Wow, best looking stock I'v ever seen. Loving every single shiny inch of it. Alun
