  1. You'll have to decide that for yourself, if you cant decide, then how the hell is anyone else supposed to? All anyone can do is give their opinion. If you really really cant decide, come to Wales, I'll put my hands behind my back, you write the names of the bikes on either hand, and whichever one I punch you with, thats the one you buy! Harsh - yes, joke - no OK yes I am joking, but seriously, dont nag people to choose a bike for you, it won't make you popular, and certainly won't help you get validated. Alun
  2. Just do it how you like and love every second of it Alun
  3. That link doesn't work for me? Alun
  4. Skids are the worst though! Pointless waste of MY rubber! Alun
  5. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=75968 Alun EDIT: The links don't work for me anyway?
  6. Yep, he's right, but have a look at the teeth first for signs of wear, if you're lucky it'll only be one of the above, spare you a few pennies Alun
  7. Theres a lesson to be learnt here, DONT RIDE WITH SLIPPERS! Alun
  8. Im shure the wheels are the same as I had on my base too. Are they alex rims? EDIT: Just been on the Base bikes website , why is the ashton mod on there??? Alun
  9. It's Sods Law, evrything's like that. Ever made a move, then when it comes to show someone, you can't make it? Loads of stuff like that, Sods Law is life, just get on with it! Alun
  10. Yep, the t-pro is much better, as a bike, spec, and for value. There are a lot of bikes that I would choose over the base. Are you looking for a bike marcus? Alun
  11. Thats a good point actually, I'd never thought of that, I always tell people the real value of my bike, and also let some people have a go. I'm not going to now! Also, if anyone has given a non-trials rider a go on your bike, noticed how wobbly they are? And how they try to sit down?! Makes me smile evry time. Alun
  12. After messing about with some pallets on top of my dads flatbed trailer (about 14foot long?), I was thinking about how cool it would be to fix the pallets down, and have some spare loose ones to place on the ground. It would be like a portable trials rig, but more or less ready assembled. The trailer has a handbrake, and those things that come down to the ground like on caravans, so it would be stable. Sound like fun? Alun
  13. ^^Made me laugh! Would you really get stabbed to keep your bike though? Come to think of it, I might, I do love my bike, and seeing as I have no money whatsoever, Im not gonna let anyone take it, otherwise that'd be my riding days over. Then again you might die, abit?! Alun
  14. Haha! Hustled! But that is very naughty! Alun
  15. Base t20 was my first bike, must of been the 2001 model or thereabouts. Bought it 3rd hand, I was friends with both of the people who had had it though. Thats how I got into trials first, by having a go on the bike off my mate. I actually gave him £20 towards the bike so I had some 'right' to have a spin on it!! I found the bike was very nice to learn on at first, I loved her ( named her Tess :$ ). But, There where quite a few negative things. 1) I went through about 4/5 freewheels (rear), but this only happened after my riding had progressed, they where 'extra heavy duty' ones from halfords. Pretty burly looking, but they didnt last long at all. 2) Bent the bashguard. Again this was only after I had progressed quite abit, about 7-8months from buying. 3) Bought a set of 2005 HS33's, front and rear, which were'nt much better than the V's really. Bettered abit with magura koolstop pads and a carbon 2bolt booster, but in my opinion HS33's are complete w@nk when used on V mounts. I'd like to point out that when I had this bike, my knowledge was pretty poor, so I had no idea why the freewheels where 'braking', I imagine they where just working loose, and my choice of pads was pretty poor too! Also, not too light, but when learning this wasn't noticeable. Something else I noticed was it seemed smaller to ride than other trial bikes, lower and shorter. Overall, a nice bike to learn on, but it will hold you back after a while. Alun
  16. Is going to front an 'up to front'? Renember, even though you may find it easier, others might find it harder, all down to personal preference, evrybody has their own style and own ways of doing things. Alun
  17. Personally I'd say go for it, but measure it as accurately as possible (put some paint on the tops of the bolts, press the booster down on them and drill where the paint is??). If the holes dont quite line up, try using a round file to 'move' the hole to the side needed. Take care though, carbon dust aint too healthy for your lungs/eyes apparently (this months MBUK) Alun
  18. Use the search, endless topics on this. If it's clicking when you stop pedaling, it's supposed to! Clicking when pedaling means it's coming loose most probably, you need to tighten it up (stick a nail/small allen key into one of the little holes and press against your frame, then pedal backwards by hand). If it is loose, you should consider getting it welded, or use locktite, or both! Also, if it's started after getting a new chain, make shure the chain isn't too tight, this can make the clicking worse. All I can think of at the moment, but use the search, theres a library worth of topics on this. Alun
  19. Thanks for all the sugestions, not decided yet but I'll let you know. A girl im really keen on is trying to get me to go with her to a primary school, I know I shouldn't go there just because she's there, but god it's tempting! Alun
  20. Bumpage - Is it just me, or is that massive? Alun
  21. Haha! Surely they'll rape the hub?!! They dont look too round to me! Either they'll get out of shape and wreck the cups in your hub, or for the same reason they will shape themselves under use and work sweet! Class though, I mean, what are the chances finding them, exactly the right size! Alun
  22. Sounds like the disk and/or pads are contaminated. Give everything a really good clean with some degreaser and something like a green washing up pad. Rinse well with plenty of water and try again. Alun
  23. You just know you're addicted to TF when you get in off the piss, and thats all you can think of!! Alun
  24. ^^^^^As said, I dont really want to do my work experience in a shop, I'm not just going to any any bike shop just because I ride a bike, sorry if it came accross like that. Ideally it'd be somewhere more to do with the designing and manufacturing side. Appologies if that wasn't clear, and no, you dont sound like an old fart! Alun
  25. Howdy, I'm on work experience for 6th form, July 10th - 14th, and basically I need to find somewhere. It would be amazing for me to do it anywhere trials related, but preferably something other than just a shop, eg a factory, but I've no idea whats out there and where, so please, suggest anywhere relevant. Obviously being close to home would help, but any suggestions are much appreciated. Bonus points for being close to ANGLESEY or MANCHESTER! Preferably trials related and close to home, but anything is much appreciated, so thanks very much in advance. Alun
