If your thinking your fat because of being a little stiff, or perhaps your movement feels a little restricted, try stretching. Alun

Nice, you've certainly had a good go at that rear rim though!! (3rd pic) It's resembling the silouette of a mountain ridge, you grind it or was it a chav-mouse?! Alun

Drops seem to be popular, that's what mine is too! IT was off a village hall roof, my highest drop so far. I was up and down for nearly half an hour, and as Sods Law states, I had the fooking squits! Purely coincidence though, It wasnt fear that made me poo! So I had to spend 80p on some toilet paper, and go for 2 or 3 shits before attempting the drop. I also had one of those yellow card thins aswell, antisocial behaviour thing, cos the village cop spotted us while he was going past Alun

IF it's just the actuall lever blade couldn't you get an RB lever second hand? Sorry if I'm wrong. Also check these out * clickage * (ooh, first time I've done that, mmm!) Alun

Personally, I'd get a booster anyway, regardless of wheather the frame has one or not. From my experience, when the brakes are applied, even if the frame doesn't flex, the brake still can. Hard to explain, but the part of the brake furthest away from the frame can move outwards, like it's twisting outwards on the seatstay. And Im sure that letting your frame do all the work of taking the pressure from the brake, surely, can't do any good. Also a booster generally stiffens (hehe) up the brake, improving the brake by making power transfer more efficient, and also giving a firmer feel overall at the lever. Hope this is clearer than mud and that I've helped, Alun

Dilema - To Tell Insurance Company Or Not :-s
Alun Goch replied to Joe Papasnap Maher's topic in Chit Chat
For shure, pay for it yourself IMO. If you shop around, you can get things much cheaper, perhaps buying a second hand bumper or boot and respraying it would be cheaper, thats what my dad did for my mums cars wing, turned out cheaper. My dad being a reall tight-arse really helped, he got the cost down an awfull lot, which helped me, cos it was, kinda, erm, me who dunnit Morals of the post Pay for it yourself Shop around Dont steal your mums car and crash it (for pics go to chasemechaseme.piczo.com, the Ford Puma on 'driving' page Alun -
LMFAO Get the "where's your seat" every other day And every time he sees me, there's an RAF copper thats forever asking me where my lights are, and warning me that hes gonna arrest me for it, even though he can't because he only has the right in the RAF, so all's I do is promise to have a set on my bike before he tells me again. And so the circle continues....! Best question I've been asked though was by a chav standing on a street corner, he was waching me for a while, and when I rode past he said "havent you got anything better to do?" Like stand on street corners all day? Yes m8 ..... Alun

preperation is probably the most important thing, the cleaner the threads, the better. get pleanty of degreaser on there, give it a good scrubbing with a toothbrush, then wipe, and leave it somewhere to dry out properly. then simply add the loctite, screw it up nice and snug, and leave to dry over night. that should sort it, Alun

Not scared exactly, but when I push myself to go bigger on sidehops, as i crouch down ready to jump, my whole body sortof goes floppy, and I just put a foot down. It's really annoying me, and seems to happen on random days, even when I know I can do the sidehop, after doing it the day before, it's as if my body gives up on me. Does this happen to anyone else, or am I a weirdo and should I be banned from trials and be kicked in the fringe with an elbow? ! Alun

What Gloves Do You Wear When Riding?
Alun Goch replied to kb_trialer's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
sixsixone comps, in an extra large unfortunately, as i have wee ickle lady hands! (didnt look at the size!) Great pair of gloves, no tears or holes, had them for quite a while, thin for good feel too. Most important thing in a glove IMO is to be thin for good feel, have a snug fit while giving plenty of free movement, and of course being hard wearing. I notice quite a few people say they ride with bare ( :$ ) hands, I agree there's a greater sense of control, but does anyone get the same as me and have really sweaty hands and loose alot of grip?? Alun -
Mate those are some sweet a$$ photos. Great riding ones, and those pics of the forest and stuff, really powerfull, maby cos Im stoned but who knows! Anyhow, nice work *pat on the back* Alun

Do I Need A Trials Specific Bike To Get Started?
Alun Goch replied to Ramraider's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
One thing to bear in mind, if you're planning on buying a trials bike anyway, is it worth spending on this bike? I'd get some brake-pads though, they shudn't be to dear. Alun P.S Good luck! Hope you enjoy trials! -
As the brake would act on the outside rim, wouldn't the tyre and inner rim still be free to move in one direction due to it not being fixed? Nice thought though, there's got to be something radical like this that would better trials bikes somewhere. Alun

Hugging pro's?! Alun

Wow, suprised that people do this! I suppose it's because you come to know the bike alot, learning how to ride it and get it to do what you want etc. And all bikes are different, as if they have a personality, so why not name them?! Alun
-
Hey y'all, just wandering if there's anyone else out there that's named their bike? I really hope there is 'cos if not I've just made a fol of myself big time!! By the way she's called Manon (welsh) Alun
-
Maybe not so common, but since riding trials I seem to walk like a complete tw@t! It's really annoying but cant help it. Trousers would be gnarled by cogs/chain etc, Big thighs, shoulders and forearms, Deep and many shin scars! Aren't complete idiots to talk to, Knee back pain when getting up/moving about, May be riding a trials bike?? Alun
-
Does anyone else look at the chainstays and have the feeling they'd get in the way a bit? Mainly while sidehopping? Or maby just me... Alun

May not sound like much, but every night, and I mean EVERY SINGLE NIGHT when my dad gets in, he comes to my room, and the first thing he says is "close the curtains please Alun". Every night for the past 4months or so, and it's getting on my t!ts i I mean, it's not like it's blindingly obvious or anything, I'm not gonna leave them open all night, and he could at least maby say "hello" first or ask how I am? Alun

I think we should try and get something sorted for buses aswell. I've been let on buses quite a few times with a trial bike, 2 of us sometimes even, it just depends on the driver. Once though me and a mate bought a return ticket with our bikes on a bus, but on the way back it was a different driver, and he refused to let us on! Long ride home, t!t of a driver. I think it's fair that if the buses arn't busy we should be allowed on, or why not just spare us a little space with some sort of rack? I know I'd be really greatfull for this, and would be riding much more than I do. What y'all think? Alun

Problems I've had are knees and fingers, really creaky and painfull, but found that just drinking more water solves that. Had a few shinnies, typically on the only days I decided not to bother with pads! Sods Law sucks... but hey, no pain no gain Alun EDIT: Oh yeah, for those of you that have a lovely hot shower after a hard ride DONT! Have a freezing cold one instead! It's much better for you, something about stopping the blood in the muscles, prevents getting knots in them, something along those lines anyway...
