Dashboard isnt useful that often... but occasionally... say you want to convert a measurement or currency, its all in one place, kept all up to date with current rates. Theres a note pad so you can store stuff temporarily without having to open a text editor and stuff... a customisable weather widget... its all good. Its not revolutionary or great, but it does a few useful things that make it worth having (Y)

As its been said, go get VLC player for mac as it is the daddy (Y) To unpackage Windows Media Player for Mac, you need to get a program called Stuffit Expander. Its free, just google for it and install that :) Then it should be obvious to you how to actually install WMP :) You'll get used to the Mac soon and be reaping the benefits in no time :) Ben

Yet as I understsand profits for companies like adobe continue to rise every year, so thats why they can afford to look the other way to piracy. And its true that those who download photoshop wouldnt buy it anyway, so its not a fair stat to say that it has cost the industry that money... they wouldnt have made it otherwise anyway.

1. any regular isp, it doesnt matter, its easier if they arent aol though as aol is generally a bit weird and not so easy to setup on a router. 2. modem? well, as long as its a modem with an ethernet port out of it it should be fine. 3. you dont need anti virus on a mac. its very secure anyway and 99% of virii are written to attack windows based pcs. 4. the only thing it doesnt like to play so well are wmv format videos but it plays everything else perfectly. there is windows media player for mac but its not very good... you just need to get a program called vlc which is great. 5. msn messenger for mac is a program ms make.... its crap though. best bet is to get a program called adiumx which is wonderful. 6. that by getting a mac you are making a great decision

i dunno why us apple users go on about it so much to be honest, i couldnt give a shit if everyone else wants a mac, hates macs, etc (Y) i just dont understand why anyone with a mac thinks theyre right either, macs are great but they arent for everyone! anywho it doesnt seem that aperture doesnt anything you cant already do with photoshop anyway... which is why I think its a bit odd that its now a 'pro' apple application. its a glorified version of iphoto, which is a really shit program - pretty much the same, but with some neat graphical effects and a more easy to use slider for some of the adjustments. i cant see how in aperture you can select out the sky from the foreground and change levels for either one... i cant see how having so few big features makes it a pro tool or a contender to photoshop. it seems like a home application for someone that just got an expensive digi slr and doesnt really know what to do with the pictures from it. very strange.

try using a different xp cd for the install... sometimes some copies just dont work properly :P im not sure why, but its worth a try!

It might sound obvious but all of those people that are telling you to do work, or not get very far, are telling the truth. Some people are naturals and find stuff easy, and do well at it. I went from a 1065 koxx to a pashley, and then to a pace rc250. It got more fun each time the bike got shorter. its great fun going to something shorter. The pace is what... about 1000 wheelbase!

Multiple users, and gaming, lol what!? You'd be better off with a single processor, either something like an intel 3.4, or a nice fast amd64 than dual. Gaming would benefit from 1 fast processor a lot more... and erm, multiple users... that just uses up ram, not processor power. Why did you buy dual!? lol...

Indeed, its certainly not correct. The real term is that you have dual 2.5 processors, not a 5ghz processor. Out of interest what do you use the system for? What processors are they? I only said about the copy and paste thing as again it shows a lack of knowledge... you seem to be trying to be like 'wow check out what ive found' when you dont really know anything about Vista or how unexciting it really is... :)
