yes but you are making the topic for your friend, si is right, its mineral oil you need, as it says in your instructions, just get some new seals and some mineral oil or water. Dot fluid is for different brakes. JAson
pft, hopes are unreliable si, they have no adjustment over then ripping the caliper off and spacing it out with washers e.t.c which is a pain in the arse where as a avid you can adjust with the spin of a knob. Hopes need bleeding and are a pain int arse to do where as you can just replace a cable in your bb7 at the cost of a few quid and it last for much longer then a hope bleed. Hopes are too expensive for what they are and are only good when there new they never work good when there older.Parts for a hope are astronomical. Jason
I prefer street, yet you can get a lot of hassle off the police/security or members of the public. Where as natural you dont get any hassle apart from farmers with shot guns, but serouisly u get moves on a lot when riding street especially in city centres i.e leeds but i feel street is much more fun to ride. Natural for me are much harder to get to as i dont have my driving license yet and they are way away from the train station i use for street rides. Jason
Avid bb7, they come in a range of sizes the bigger th rotor the better. I have just purchased a 203mm avid and i can assure you when i fit it it will beat any hydrolic rim brake, v brake, hydrolic disk. Jason
How much tension is ideal on a mod bike, mine has tight spots. On some bits of the chain its slack i.e bouncing off chainstay and on some bits its nice and tense. Biff rekons you are meant to have lots of tension i am getting a new chain anyway but i was just asking how much tension is to be run on a mod? The reason i am asking this is because once i was on a megamo mod and i had set the tension too much and it was on a kmc kool chain, i went to gap and the chain snapped. There was a 2 inch thread sticking out of the stem and it ripped my knee cap open badly and i had to be taken to hospital to have it stiched up, a round a week later my chain snapped on my stock lol since then i have a fobia of my chain snapping and since i have recently moved to mod i am a bit weary. So any advice in the right tension of a chain would be great thankyou. Jason
Well a king has around double engagement then a profile, if its for a mod ive seen ashley butler running a bmx king i think, but if its for a stock profiles wont work they are prone to be weak. Either a king bmx or profile mate or the cheaper £80 option is to get a eno freewheel that screws onto your cranks. Clarky
