  1. i dont wear gloves anymore and find i have better feel/control especially when modulating brake lever.. but back when i did wearthem i had some yellow/red fluoro HEBO gloves and a pair of "bosco" gloves bothe were uber thin and gave great feel at lever. Im guessing modern hebos are the same, if so get them. Havent seen any bosco gloves in yrs.. shame, they were lush!!
  2. if some one has a ti capriolo... thatll win!!
  3. hahaa.. U TWAT!!! im in AUSTRALIA!! its called a time line...
  4. will post pics when im not at work.. Have at home immaculate uncracked pashley, 2x ashton justice mk1s (including chris akrigg's bike), 1 beautiful steel megamo radical, 1 px zebdi hawaian frame (the first ones with the spelling mistake lol), and a cracked blue 221 the ones before the seatstay/seatube gusset.
  5. are the tryall PUNCH bars any better? they seem to be superlight compared to other flat/bulge type bars
  6. im sorry, retro??!?!? at least your first trials bikes were trials bikes. back when i started and indeed what i think most people would consider retro, there werent any such thing as trials bikes, except for the odd monty here an there. my first "3 trials bikes" were all xc bikes with small frames, rigid forks or forks packed with mop handles tostop them goin bouncy bouncy. but that was about 14yrs ago. stil.. my rant is over, nice bikes... that pashley is sweet!!
  7. yep repost from few months or so back.. stil good though
  8. feedback on sale of megamo frame from tom to me :

great guy to deal with, was happy to arrange international freight, and very helpful with information and bank details. The frame was stil sent express registered post - despite the bank taking out some fees leaving him with less money than the agreed price. Frame arrived in a better packaged box than new bikes do. everything tightly wrapped

  9. wicked find boon! mavics rule, and always hav. need a set of white ones for my steel megamo.. wud b mint. shame i got no paypal and freight to oz wud be an anal rape! u dont need big fat rims for trials.. we rode for yrs with mavics, rhynolites, etc as did ashton, et, hawziee, libor etc etc.
  10. found some more info... but seems like no1s tried em for trials and im not going to be the first! lol they do a std hub (36 clicks i imagine?) 170gms!! then they do a similar hub but oversized with big axle 380gms and the king 120. possibly the std hub would be an option for trials too.... anyways if someone does try one, id love to hear how it held up to trials use/abuse. cheers

(where the post screws into the frame) thanks in advance danny..
  16. one word comes to mind when im reminded at times like this what we used to ride trials on... FUN!!! i remember alot less "who can sidehop bigger" etc... it was about going riding with you mates and having a blast. Not saying trials isnt that anymore, just i feel we lost something along the way, besides seats!! Loverly bike!! I remember dreaming of owning the old red one ... only ONE THNGS MISSING... Big ol Davids Chain Device (dcd) and that would be true baller!!
  17. thanks for the scooop... will have to check this out! I stil love watchin him in CASSETTE .. smoothest bmx riding. I was talkin to some kids the other day who ride trials, i mentioned ET and they didnt know who he was.. SAD
  18. so whats the problem... same as im running!! viz fork, tryall rim, nobby nic tyre, xtr vee...
  19. iv got the v!z forks too.. after snapping too many deng sets. Must say they are really really nice. feel stiffer, the side ribs on the legs make a huge difference and as adam said, the steerer design is stronger too. Im really happy with them. the steerer is bit shorter than deng ones. I had to cut about 2 inch off steerer on old forks (cuntrols) but the v!z were a perfect fit. too easy. Seems to be one of the best value forks on the mkt i think these days... go for em. danny
  20. i must say i was surprised to read that your having problems given your brake setup - it should be solid as. Iv been a vee user and lover for years now and just recently changed back to maguras... Vees definately were better performance. Im using the coust pads in the maggies and used coust pads with vees... and the vees were much better! More control ie for manuals etc, better modulation (oviously!) more hold as we all know, the only plus for the maggies is the on/off'ness lol. but it takes a while to realise that as soon as the pads hit the rim... your going to STOP immediately. Anyways I thought id tell you my vee setup and maintenance that made my vees the best feeling/working/performance brakes iv ever had. Similar setup to you.. avid ultimate arms, xtr levers, odyssey or xtr outer, coustsinks, salsa booster (i did notice that the performance improved noticeably witha booster... so couldbe worth looking at) Wash out the outter with wd40 or some other spray that cleans out grease etc. Grab a blower off a lbs compressor and blow out the grease. Then drop a FEW drops of finishline wet or similar down the inside of the outter and use a good inner (teflon coating is best - reduces friction and helps keep cable from splitting/fraying) put a drop or two on your fingers and run the length of the inner between them to coat a light amount of finishline etc. Make sure the outter is cut perfectly square, if not compression will occur around the noodle area. Do the same to the noodle as you did to the outer. Pads.. Set the pads up so not only do they hit SQUARE ON - flat! (u will feel it as 1 clean hit when pad touches rim... then bolt up and make sure when you look at it from behind the brake pad bolts are in line when you pull brakes on. this way the force is being directed exactly accross the rim in line with the pad on the other side). Set the arms with just enough tension to take up slack at lever. This will ensure the smoothest easiest operation of brake. I also put a drop of lube aroudn the brake pivot area, and the pivot area of the brake lever itself. makes a world of difference to a smooth and quiet brake. My rim was the same as yours, super flat (approx 9mths since grind) and it worked incredibly. I hope this helps ... sorry if it sounds like basic stuff. I just wanted to help because ireally believe in vees being the best brakes - simple, cheap and easy to maintain. I replace my inner about 3-4 times a year (a bit excessive but i take no chances ) and outter about 2ce a year. All the best with it ! If i can help in anyway feel free to pm me ... Ali C and Felix Mucke are both vee experts aswell and good for asking about setups etc. danny..

was and stil is one of my fave and most watched vids thanks for making it in the first place! Brilliant riding especially shrewsbury and goddard. this vids off the f**kin chain... those who missed it bk then, get it now!! danny
  22. mmm good point thanks adam... yeah it used to be more rolly/bmxy/etc less kicking type moves -gaps/sidehops etc. its not for a full on trials bike.. but for a bike il use to do street and some trials on. the xc shells are definately stronger... are you saying the internals would go quicker than a pro2 wud? What are most people using for 24s etc (who use them as 2nd bikes) i defo cant afford a 2nd king!
  23. snapping pro2 shells ... no problems with breaking pawls etc. my old xc lasted 4 years.
  24. thanks for the info guys - quickest replies ever Iv just gone through 3 pro 2's in less than a year!! 2 of them where the newer ones with reinforced shell. My xc lasted me about 4yrs. so pretty keen to go back to them. few less engagements is a small price to pay for security. is it worth gettin the ti version?
