  1. You can patent anything which is an improvement on an original design. This design vastly broadens the range of rim widths which can be used in a four bolt magura frame. I quote from the UK Patent office. "Patents are generally intended to cover products or processes that possess or contain new functional or technical aspects; patents are therefore concerned with, for example, how things work, what they do, how they do it, what they are made of or how they are made. The vast majority of patents are for incremental improvements in known technology; it has been said that innovation is evolution rather than revolution."
  2. As somebody has rightly pointed out, the frame is nothing like a Zoo Python. OK, it has CNC side plates but so have many frames. I am over here designing and discussing many things with our suppliers and also frame designs with our many manufacturers. This frame was put together to look at and address some ideas and was nothing more. The central CNC plates were braced in the middle with the horizontal tube as some others have pointed out, because it has no seat tube. Most of these ideas are attempts to increase the stength and stiffness of the frame and improve the braking power. Very few go into production but they are building blocks on the way. Lots of the ideas we throw around over here will come to fruition later in the year and I like to see all the controversy something like this brings up but some of you should really lighten up.
  3. As some of the more sensible replys to this post have pointed out, this is a prototype and will undergo several changes. I have spent 2 hours with that frame maker today making improvements, which will be incorporated into the drawings and the next incarnation. Let me just say that without CNC machining and aluminium fabrication all frames would look the same and weigh a ton. What a boring world we would have then. One particular feature which I thought up today will be a huge improvement and would have been impossible without CNC machining. Thanks for any constructive comments and for all those like "bike rider" whose comments are worthless (we know he would burn a 50 pound note if it said Onza on it), why do you bother? As for all the comments about it being a copy, that really is rubbish. The centre, the dropouts and the front end are all totally new, so how is it a copy? I hope this posting comes out in English, not Chinese.
  4. Just to correct some mis information. Tuf Guys are 100% 4130 Cromolyand the steerer tubes are not and never have been glued. The only time bonding is used, is for steerers to crowns where the metals are incompatible for welding, ie. cromo steel steerers into alloy forks or 6061 steerers into 7005 crowns. Our shortly to be relaunched Fall Guy forks are 4130 cromoly and they are totally heat treated again after construction which makes them one of the strongest and stiffest in their class. Weight and geometry improvements are being made. For your information we no longer use bonded steerers in any of our forks. We have now produced in excess of 7000 Tuf Guy forks and although it is the cheapest in the Guy forks range it has the least number of problems in terms of warranty.

  6. Let me say again. I know he is using names to draw people to his listing. He is not however. drawing them there to try and sell them an alternative product. He is selling a service which any trials rider can use.
  7. You are missing the point. Danny is selling a "service". He is offering that service to anybodywhatever bike they ride , be it an Onza, Koxx,Echo or Monty. He is not using those brand names to draw other people to his brand name. To somebody like yourself who uses abusive comments as a matter of course, I am not surprised that you find other people arrogant, rude and not very friendly. I am sure you can manage to draw out those qualities in the best of people.
  8. I don't really wish to enter in to this discussion only to say that I take exception to the remarks by spunkey-monkey-boy about our ebay policy. Dan is a team rider for Onza and has permission to use our name. He is not offering a product but a service and is offering it to anyone riding any of those makes of bikes. He is not just using other peoples Trade Marks to help peddle his own products. If he can make a bit of extra cash to support his ambitions at the highest level of the sport then more power to his elbow. Believe me, to stay at the top of any sport these days the amount of time required to train means you cannot also hold down a full time job and every extra penny earned is crucial. I spend a small fortune maintaining my Trade Marks worldwide and participate in ebays VERO programme to stop abuses of them. Apart from the fact that such a practice is called by ebay "Keyword Spamming" and is specifically banned,( check it out) I consider it an abuse of my Trade Marks when used in such a way. We have a very high feedback score on ebay and we have achieved it without writing Monty, Koxx and Echo after every Onza product we sell. Be warned that we sweep Ebay on a regular basis for abuses of our Trade Marks and if you use our names to advertise other products, "out goes the dummy" and your listing will be pulled.
  9. They have been in the UK since early December. The Japanese dist. had some just after, as did the Hong Kong guy. Canada will have them next week.
  10. So we get some more Urban Legends. The only Tax Free zone is to make in the UK. Everything else has import duty, Vat, freight costs, insurance etc. Also the Taiwanese have more or less the same standard of living that we do and certainly get similar sort of wages. (Taiwan is a lot different to China) All our frames are batch produced not mass produced and are all built by hand by individual frame builders. The main difference is however that they work a lot harder than we do in the UK and therefore have greater productivity. If you want a seat with the Zoot we have a bolt on bracket and seat post specially designed for it to take any seat you want.

I totally accept that everyone is entitled to an opinion and if you don't like our products,our business, our method of operation or any other aspect of Onza, Tensile or whatever product we are involved with, then that is perfectly OK. What I object to is when a topic is raised about one of our products, in this case a cycle which has no likeness anywhere and which was released about 10 days before christmas and which we have sold about 20 worldwide, suddenly attracts comments which can have no basis in fact whatsoever. Phrases like "generic cheap crap" and "substandard quality" are bandied about by people who have more than likely never even seen the bike, let alone ridden it. It is stuffed with parts that already have a strong reputation and it is an attempt to widen the boundaries a little but its ultimate success or failure is down to it finding a market. All I am saying is that whatever your personal opinion, unless you can contribute factually to a discussion without prejudice or hearsay just button it. I don't like it is fine . I don't like it cos its Onza therefore its crap is not fine. Rant over.
  12. It took our 24" Zoot to bring out all the Onza bashers from the woodwork again. What a load of rubbish some of you talk. I quote, "generic cheap crap" "heavy and should of (have?) never been made""substandard quality" "Onza, the scurge (I think he meant scourge)of trials" I like to get constructive criticism which is why we get you guys to test our stuff thoroughly before releasing it. However, this sort of mindless prejudiced attack on a product that few of them will have seen, gives the guy who first posed the question , no help at all. Just because I choose to have the products which we design, made in some of the most modern factories in the world in Taiwan (not Mongolia) rather than bend and weld a few bits of steam pipe in my garage does not mean we are not pushing the name and reputation of a British company, around the globe and certainly does not mean our products deserve this sort of tirade. We have chain rings made in the USA and our new brake blocks are made in the UK. I currently have 3 patents going through and our freewheel has already got a Euro registered design. The "gay" head tube thing refered to by one poster I presume is our innovative anti flare stainless steel rings top and bottom of the head tube to accept an otherwise conventional headset. Whatever our products may be, in your opinion , they are certainly not generic. Rather than being the scourge of trials, I think we have put it where it is today, raising its profile and making it affordable. By all means bull up your favourite brand, but if you need to resort to slandering our products to make your point, it just indicates your arguments in favour are not too strong.

This would be subject to signing up to our test programme contract. Contact me if you are interested. We will also price match anybody on a White Industries. One more point, the Bubble Gum brake pads mentioned before christmas are Tensile branded not Onza.

  16. Just to put the record straight, the freewheel has been an ongoing project now for over two years and has always been at the forefront of our development ideas. It has however gone through several radical design changes during that time and has been also delayed whilst we registered the designs to stop rip offs. As Mark says we now have final production samples being tested and production will commence when we are satisfied that it will meet the rigours of trial riding. If that goes well they should be available end of January. We know only too well the folly of releasing a product too soon and particularly with Tensile products it has to be right before it goes on sale.
  17. They are not the same as Onza armstrong cranks. We used to use this crank which is an off the shelf Sugino crank badged as you want it and yes it is the same as the DDG and the Specialized and yes it is flexy. This is the reason why we designed and developed our own Onza crank about two or three years ago as a reasonable budget trials crank with much greater stiffness than the Sugino. I suggest you check the facts before making such statements. The Onza also has standard chainring bolts and a stainless steel ring. The Sugino has oddball bolts and a nickel plated ring.
  18. They have a seat post bracket and Onza conentional seatpost as an OPTIONAL extra to fit any dual rail seat you want. You can also buy a sleeve and mini seat to go with the bracket if that is what you prefer.
  19. They actually weigh 315 grams against around 240 to 260 grams for most alloy mod stems. Considering that I don't think we have ever seen a broken one in six years of usage and they are at least half the price of most alloy stems I think they qualify as a good buy. Yet again I read more examples of the uninformed viewpoints of many riders on this forum. If you don't know something , don't fill the pages with your prejudices.
  20. We collaborate a lot with Kris Holm on Unicycle projects and I can tell you that the rim is exactly the same rim as the Onza ground hog without the hole drillings. It is also the same as the Viz, Koxx and several others. I believe that the wear line is being dropped as he has had several failures with rims splitting along the wear line. This is not a good feature for trials riders. If we produced the rim without drillings or side wall grinds it would be about the same price
  21. There are 100 on the way now, of which 10 will be air freighted in, in about 10 days time. Price will be announced before this weekend but hoping to be around £500. Some final costings still to be finished.The sea freight ones will be available end of November/early December. If you want to reserve one contact Super Cycles asap. Demand is high and numbers low.

  25. No, they will go to those who deserve them. Manufacture was far too expensive to put a price on them. Even the lids are cnc machined and threaded We will give them where we feel they are deserved. There are many people around who have helped us and our brands develop without asking for reward and that is where we will use them. And incidentally, that is the first time I have seen the Chris King hub salt and pepper pot, so no we didn't get the idea from them. Nice idea though, must look at other parts we make. The bb height is 25mm up. Wheelbase is 1070 using a 400mm fork. Chainstay is 375mm. These were our drawing dimensions but I have to double check when we have built it into a complete bike.
