You'll have no problems rolling the front, the rear can be done too but with a bit more effort and care using a standard arch roller. The upshot is that you have limited possibilities on the rear so if you want some wide wheels you'll need to stiffen up the suspension since you cannot pull the arches sufficiently for wide/small et wheels to clear them with the standard suspension travel. Hope that makes sense. I've rolled rear arches on 3 E36's and was never happy with the result which is why my current E36 has front arches off an E46 installed on the rear.. Is that a 328i? If so I'd stick with 205/55R16, should be ok to drift at above 60mph. If not, just use a lower profile or a shorter diff.

Difficult to roll arches on the rear, they're double or even triple skinned in some places. Bolt ons look crap and you'd need a front/rear bumper to match. Just have them rolled properly and they'll look fine.

You also have a rather interesting job don't you?

Really excited, taking the M3 out tonight, will be driving on unpaved roads in the woods. Still got the spotlights on, managed to source 2 pairs of tyres, one is really good the other one is rather bad (old winter tyres). Everyone tells me to put the better ones on the rear, not quite sure about that. Would prefer to stop quickly than accelerate better and understeer constantly. Will hopefully post a video tomorrow if everything goes well. Rather worried that what my friend considers smooth will turn out to be pretty bumpy for a car set up for tarmac.

Thought this was funny. Driving at the ring at full speed while having an argument with his wife.

It did, gf was out for almost 36 hours. She had some then, took them to bed, went to sleep, woke up, got hungry, ate more cakes... actually I had quite a lot of junk food in my room and it's almost all gone now.

Got about 20 magic cakes from my mate for christmas Already had two.

If anyone's interested, here's an onboard. 3 clips from yesterday night with a few mistakes one of which could have ended badly for the car + a run from today which turned out to be the record time for this stage. Won the event partly due to the lack of 3 Evos. First half of the video is pretty boring since it was incredibly slippery. 2nd half is the quick stuff. I'm really proud with 2:32 in the video, was fighting all night and day to go through that corner steering the car with the throttle while keeping the wheels pointing straight. Almost nailed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uZw15TkcCI

It's not pointless though, it's an opportunity to moan and that's a good thing. But yeah, could never understand this whole "add friend because he rides trials". On that basis whoever plays football should have thousands of friends. I know trials is more of a niche but in the end it's not that different. You're still adding someone you don't know, from a completely different background, city, province or even country who shares only 1 of your interests.

Returned from the night event, managed to win overall. Part two tomorrow. My friend who's known for doing ridiculous things went over the moon today. On the first run (he drives a Impreza Type R) he drove on very good wet tyres which were perfect for the conditions. He came 1st overall. So he decided to put on some super skinny winter tyres for the 2nd stage. Rather odd but that's how he is. On one part of the stage there was a 180 degree turn followed by a roughly 200m straight and then another turn. On the 180 degree turn the car understeered due to the rubbish tyres and he drove into a wall. He must have damaged the bonnet latch because it opened on the straight breaking his windscreen. Now usually you'd stop in such a situation but Peter decided to carry on driving as long as he was sure he was driving straight. The straight finished and he carried on into a tyre wall. Despite the hefty damage he continued and finished in the top 10. This would be strange behaviour coming from a thick teenager but this chap is over 40, he's very smart and we all wonder whether he doesn't just enjoy destroying his cars. His M3 looked like a complete pit (posted pics of it here a few times) and his Subaru looks even worse now. Will have an onboard tomorrow. Despite winning the comp I was still 10s a stage slower than a pro rally driver in an E30 318is. I drove with him after I'd finished and was amazed. He's unbelievably skillful. Other interesting things - there was a C2 proto rally car with LED lights. Not 20W, not 50W but 250W. 35,000 lumens. When he switched them on it was like daylight. Must have cost a bloody fortune.

Observing the same with my trials forum. It's mostly dead now and it's almost certainly the result of Facebook groups taking over. Actually I totally understand this, it's just way more convenient to have everything in one place (FB).

Been setting up the lighting for tomorrows comp and a while later I had a cloud of smoke coming from under the bonnet. Large-ish coolant leak, the whole bumper is wet and I can't pinpoint where the leak is coming from. The red b*****d knows when to break down, still got 24 hours to fix it. Off to a mechanic as soon as it cools down. Got nothing better to do now hence the post Turned out to be a leaking radiator. So off to find a new one tomorrow morning.

That must be fun to drive.

Presumably that's your problem - people in your friends list who have nothing better to post. I have a couple of friends who keep posting really silly updates. It's mostly women, if it's men then they're usually from abroad (different Facebook culture?). Most of my friends are spread all around the country, it's really convenient to be able to keep in touch with them using one website and at the same time get news feeds from interesting pages, discuss upcoming competitions and get help if needed. Perhaps I'm just getting old but I get the impression that usually people are fed up with Facebook because of the immature content posted by others. It's not really Facebook that's to blame though.

My dad recommended I take this pic to commemorate the 2013 season. He used to do the same thing and still has his pictures. Next comp on Friday and Saturday and I can't wait since it's going to be held at night.

Returned from the award ceremony. Was an epic evening, after the prize giving we returned to our hotel, got properly pissed and decided to buy the chairman of the club a thank you gift for the brilliant season he prepared for us. Most of us went to a bowling/dance club we were invited to and a few went off to get the present. I remember dancing with my mates when my friend appeared in the door holding an absolutely massive box which turned out to be an at least 3ft tall vodka bottle with a carrier and accessories. We all signed our names on the bottle and gave it to the chairman. He was absolutely chuffed. I don't remember much more but I do remember that I accidentally threw the bowling ball backwards and not forwards. Nobody got hurt. So this is what I got, was one of 2 people who managed a podium finish in 3 classes. The red one which looks weird after compressing the image is AB Cup which includes BMW Challenge but also the WRC class which is mostly Evos, STD's and so on. The trophies have my name engraved on them (not visible with a flash for some reason) and all the rounds with the date and place they were held at. I absolutely love them, such a great reminder of this season. There has also been a lot of talk about the 2014 season and while most if it is going to be similar to 2013, they want one round to be held during a Czech rally. So there's a big chance that this time next year I'll have experienced the real deal. Scared and super excited at the same time.

Off to a prize giving ceremony tomorrow which marks the end of this year's BMW Challenge and AB Cup. Can't wait to meet up with all the friends who I rarely get to see outside comps. Finally a chance to do some heavy drinking with them. Also gf is adamant that I wear a blue blazer she got me half a year ago so I decided to buy some pretty authentic looking PSY sunglasses to match. Still need to sort out a black bow tie.

Did he crash during the frontflip off those pallets? Looks like a shot they would have taken from various angles yet the landing isn't shown.

Well the Daihatsu broke down at my mechanic (very convenient) so I got the chance to drive an M6. I've been hearing the owner saying it's a piece of crap for at least half a year and that his E39 M5 is the best car ever made by BMW. After driving his M6, I totally agree. The throttle feels like it's made of cheese and the gearbox is a nightmare, I was never quite sure what it was thinking. As a result I was never involved in the drive and felt as if I was fighting with the car even on open roads. Engine sound is great, the interior quality is superb but other than that, it's bad.

If that's what you're doing then it won't rid the brake of air. You should pump the lever, then press it down and undo the bleed screw on the caliper. Fluid and air will come out. Tighten before you release the lever, repeat a few times, top the resevoir and you're done. You'll also need to press a hose onto the bleed screw so you don't get fluid all over your disc and pads. Best if you actually remove the pads before bleeding the brake since you won't be able to clean the pads once those get contaminated by oil. edit: The best way to bed a brake in is to keep the rotor wet or semi-dry while riding around and "dragging" the brake.

Ferodo DS3000 are very good once they reach operating temperature. When cold the pedal is a bit spongy but the braking force is comparable to an OE pad. After you get some heat into them they can be a bit noisy, sound a bit like a trials brake pad on a smooth rim. To give you an idea, they have enough locking power to activate the ABS on my car at 120mph on 250mm section racing slick tyres all round.

Are MR2's fun to drive? I always thought it was a bit overshadowed by the MX5.
