The Annual Leeds Summer Ride- Sunday 3Rd July 2011
Ben Swales replied to Andeee's topic in Member Organised Rides
I should be down for this -
Yeah, you're right, it would be nice to see a DVD like that. The DH scene is a lot more commercially viable however, which makes it more attractive to companies etc. and more worthwhile putting the time, effort and money into creating season/event DVDs and the like. There just isn't the same (commercial) interest in trials, so people (I, based on some knoweldge and experience, assume) don't want to risk putting all their time, effort and money into a project that might not even break even, let alone make them any money. I didn't have the time or money to even go to any of the World rounds last year, let alone buy all the equipment etc. I'd need to make the DVD or to sit down and actually edit it etc. Hell, I barely have enough time to keep up with all the stuff we want to put on the site as it is. I think for the time being you'll have to be content with web edits and the odd DVD segment, and you'll have to wait patiently for them as well

You should definitely come to the Tyke Trial on the 15th Comps are a great way to push yourself, pick up tips from other riders and meet new people. You can take it as seriously as you like, most of us are just there for a laugh and to see how we do, so you've no need to worry about it being too competitive. Don't worry if you're not sure which route to ride, you can walk the sections beforehand and see which you think would best suit your confidence and ability. You can also change routes after no more than three sections if the route you've chosen is too easy/difficult. As Carl said, if you're not sure you'll like it and want to keep coming, you can have a day membership for your first event, it's only three pounds so you can't go wrong. If you decide you like it and want to carry on, you can join as a full member after that. It doesn't matter that you've missed a couple of rounds, you can enter as many or as few as you like. Lee Mill is a great venue as well, there's a great mix of riding for all abilities and the mixture of natual and artificial stuff always makes for interesting sections. Hope to see you both there!

Jack Carthy by James Hyland - Tribal Rider James Hyland is currently injured and has been using his time off the bike to mind Jack Carthy at various competitions and training sessions. He took the opportunity to get some of the action on film and the result is this little gem of a video!
