    First Car Wtf

this was at 17 as a first driver i think you can get 1.5 CRX's cant you? If you was to get the 1.6 Vtec CRX you will be absoloutely Mullered on insurance! EDIT If you want MPG, get a mini, to a full tank i got 609 odd miles and a full tank is some thing like £30 Or get a desil punto, and the car only being a 1.2 it wont be such a slag uphills ect It wont be rapidly fast but unless you fancy forking out thousands on insurance, nothing will be! EDIT AGAIN Thats curly freek in the VW thread, he has his 8v golf up for sale. At that pice it seems rather fair i think

  3. before i used photobucket ect i used to edit the photo in paint press Ctrl &W then a phx appeared, i put 30 and 30 in each box then saved the image and it was resized Probably the pikey way of doing it but it worked.
  4. haha legendary! fancy the chances of that! Edit: police never are , when i got my old muddy fox Rush nicked I knew who had taken it, reported it to the police and they made me write a big long spc list out for them and they took it no where. i see a local lad riding around on it now, cant be asked with the bother of trying to et it back, not bothered now anyway.

  9. its been a long while since i have wanted to paint any frames but years back when i was looking into it i thing there was a place names argoscycles.co.uk or some thing like that. If you type the name into google some thing will pop up. But i would say do it yourself, when i did my first frame i was a bit causious but just go for it if you screw it up take it off and do it again its not that hard. i have painted car sections with rattle cans and i know some one who does it all of the time and as long as you take your time and put some effort into it it will turn out fine. Just spend as long as you can on the prep of thr frame because if you want a half decent finish you need to put a lot of effort into the prep, bad prep = bad overall finish! you dont need to take all of the paint off of the frame just take all od the stickers off of it give it a good old clear and scrub over make sure you get all of the sticky crap of ect. then give it a going over with 600wet and get all of the scratches and chips smooth, this may take a while and a variation of paper grades but a bit of elbow grease and it wont take to long. Once its all gone over with and flatted back wipe the frame over with white spirit and leave it got a good 12 hours as this will remove any impurities from the frame grease much and crap which you may have spread onto the frame from your hands ect. now you come to paiting the frame with primer, loads of people i have spoken to say "oh you much use ech primer blah blah" but the only time i use etch primer is when i use filler or hammerite/rust prefention pain on car pannels as they some times react, but i find that your bog standard grey or white primer does the job well. When it comes to applying the primer i find that sitting the can in warm water helps the flow of the paint come out better as the heat compreses the paint in the can, also give the can a good old shake for approximately a minute, i didnt think it made any differance untill a bloke at work showed me the differance it makes. anyhow, when you come to apply the paint give it short bursts do not contioniously hold down the nip and just spray willey nilley. you should not cover the whole frame with each coat you apply if that makes scence. it is up to you how many coats you apply but i apply enough untill there is a solid primer colour with no imperfections. i would leave approximately 10 minutes between each coat, this is so that the last coat is tacky and the next coat will stick better. If you make a run in the paint wait for the frame to dry and then use 600 to take the drip go and then apply primer again in the same fashion. when it comes to applying colour again use the same technique that you have used to apply primer, its that simple. again leave approximately 10 minutes between each coat and you stop applying coats untill you are happy with the finish. Now we come to finishing the frame off. here you have two options and one is usually more preffered than the other. you have the choice of applying laqure to the frame to give it that shine, on this front i can not give you any advice as i have never applied a laquere to anything that i have painted. Instead i use 1500 wet and then apply a compund known as guricela(sp?) G3 which i feel gives a better effect than a laqure, and then you can wax your frame and it looks spot on. I know that a lot of people will read through that and think wtf! but that is the way i am comfortable painting frames and its the way i find easiest to do it. I would advise you to stay way from vynil based paints aswell as pealecent operlecnt anf flick type paints as they require specalist primers which cost big bucks and you can only really buy then in tins for guns ect. i used a gliter type paint once and although the finish wasnt crap it wasnt amazing either.... Right i currently have a shit system uploaded to the pc, its kinda like Mac based but its ubber shit and wont let me go into properties to recive the urml for the image so i will have to link you! http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....i&img=14396 http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....i&img=14394 But like i say, take your time and you will be fine!

  16. yeh i hadnt really thought about putting them on the underside but hey was just a random idea! I tihnk i might have a go myself, if i tit it up then i will just mark out where i want the mounts fitted and take it up my local fabricators.... Either eay its all kool i suppose Thanks laddioes
  17. yeh some thing like that jake, but i will get the whole frame heat treated before i paint it and get riding it again. i dont expect it to last that long, just some thing to get me back going again! ___ EDIT ___ Thanks for that one King, what i think i am going to do is.... cut my mounts off of my mission haha as the threads are all ok ect and weld them on, they have a bit of juice behind them aswell so i think they should hold up alright! Now its time to do some thing diffrent, I am thinking of having the mounts on the underside of the frame... not to sure yet ill see how it goes... Thanks lads!!!
  18. wow, onza really have stepped their game up since i last see some of thier stuff. Good luck lads!
  19. Thanks for that king! them plates which you have pictures, are they avalible on the market to buy? the frame i am thinking of taking the mounts off of is a reefer and they have nice big juicy blocks behind them so give a bit of leaniance with making mistakes! Are you saying that i could use my mig welder to fir these mounts dave!
  20. Right! I am currently very poor and i am looking at getting back into trials on a budget, I have been talking to Spodle and i have been offered his KOT MS2, echo forks, echo stem, brand new viz bars and FSA headset for a bargain price! Anyway, the frame has had the rear HS33 mounts cut off and smothed over as he was running a rear disc and did not need these mounts. here is my problem... i have got a Chris King classic rear hub which you will all know is not disc compatable, considering to re-shell the hub is out of the question and i am VERY against selling the rear hub. i also ate rear disc bikes, i used to have a equip pro or something with rear disc.... and i hated it! So how would i go about getting some new mounts fitted? what should i do, i can weld mig, and tig but i have never tried ARC. when i wanted to do this to my old Megaslow i was told i had to braze them on, brazing costs to much for me and trying to find a half decent brazer is.... well, hard! I have some shite old frames lying abaout which i suppose i could cut the mounts off of but erm can anybody help me out? Thanks a lot, Radfax
  21. HE can stay at mine! ill be off for a VERY long time around that time anyway! should be having a few parties around that time if he fancies that aswell! and any one else who fancies it! be a good chance to get out riding aswell. anyway the offers there! used to speek to the lad a while ago over the NSM, seemed an alright enough lad! oh yeh and i am about 30 minutes out side of london on the trainage

    My Workshop

No need to be so harsh eh lads... everyone started every where! i used to have to do all of my work in front of my dads jag and has about 6x1ft to work in! was awful! Now he has left i sold his jag now my civic sits in there and i have all the tools and space i could ask for ! Its great! i dont use tools most of the time, hammer and some WD40 does me fine! EDIT i think i remeber seeing a photo of your workspace Pimp! it was emense. Mines nothing special, 12ft work bench, bench grinder, many compressors mig and tig welders, and a fair few share of tools. best of all it has a 9ftx5ft inspection pit which makes chaning fuel lines, exhausts and removing subframes SO much easier!
  23. i have a mohecan or however you spell it meh.... I think its great when i can be asked to do it!
  24. must agree legend of an ad! "quit yo jibber jabbin fool!" Gotta love the MR T !
