Magura Martas...

Hey everyone!

I have a Magura Marta disk on the front, and there's way too much pull in the lever and it almost touches the handlebar! What do I need to do? I have never worked with hydraulic brakes before so please explain carefully!

Thanks!

Given that the marta is an open system its probably one of 2 things: -

The pads are completely worn out and are beyond the automatic adjustment of the system.

Theres air in the system and it need bleeding.

Does the brake work at all? If not then its probably just in need of a bleed.

Yes the brake is working fine! Its just that the lever goes in too far almost touching the bar. Also, when going down a hill, etc. the brake feels a little gritty, possibly the pads? Also, do I have to buy the specific Maggie mineral oil or can I just use baby oil?

get some dot brake fluid [go into a car mechanic place, they'll sort you out] and open the cap on the top of the lever. make sure the lever is flat, and pour in some fluid, pump the lever repeat as the fluid level lowers in the reservior. then buy new pads if that doesn't work. any riders who live nearby who can help? if that sounds a bit heavy, take it to a local bike shop.

Don't use dot 4 or 4 point etc...

Don't use baby oil.

Its best to use Magura blood(mineral oil).

Just stick with the original, you won't go wrong.

You might wanna check on those pads, might have to change them.

Get a rebleed....too.

Spend a lil cash, to re-tune your brakes...and you'll get problem free ridings... :)

Cheers.!

Aye...you bleed baby oil like Magura oil...the..same way, using a big syringe...lol.

Magura oil isn't as thick as baby oil i reckon, Magura oil is made to withstand

changes in temperature. Not too sure bout baby oil, it might be too thick or thin..i dunno.
