I used a crappy cheapy MTB tyre for ages,

it was MEGA light, thin, and surprisingly grippy!

Cheap too!

Thats what i was running on Adamant and i loved it but i can't find any random one's :(. That tyre was mint. Reinold has it now.

To the guy who asked if im going stock, Im building one up for summer, still got mod.

Danny.

The tyre in the photo looks a lot like a front WTB velociraptor: http://www.bicyclemania.co.uk/images/logo%...r%20f&r.jpg

They're pretty good tyres. There are XC high rollers available in 2.1" and they're pretty light. I love my 2.35" minion on the front though :)...

I used a bulldog on my last bike and it was pretty good, though it let go in a couple of strange places in damp conditions.

Try finding more of those red michelins from the early 2000's - everybody used them for years :).

At further inspection,

the pic i posted is of a VelociRaptor.

xD

The one on the left looks like a thicker version of my one.

And mine doesn't look like a Hedgehog!

My experience with Conti tyres is that they're light but they don't grip on anything unless it's dry. The Maxxis advantage is my XC tyre of choice and would make a very good trials bike front tyre too I reckon. 2.1" wide with a very round profile and lots of air volume, so on a wide rim I reckon you'll use the full width of the tyre tread.

Maxxis Advantage I am currently running one of them really light weight grippy as hell there in a 2.1
