Not sure but I've heard of them being as good as or even better than a hope.

Bearing in mind that is only word of mouth, no first hand experiance.

They are post mount though so you're forced to use at least a 180mm rotor on most mods / fork setups.

Maybe I should rephrase what I said. I do love my SLX brakes. They are a little wooden, but the modulation is excellent. Yes the power is there but you would end up having to really crank down on them. For trials, yes worth a go on the front. I would forget about them on the rear.

If you can afford them, the new icetech SLX and XT brakes are outstanding (Y)

You made me interested to try this. Power is nearly as good as a bb7 but not the same. Feel is much better (Hate the feel of a bb7). If your on a mod, id probably go for a 180mm disk, 203mm on a stock.

The difference for me probably came from the fact my trail bike weighs 33lbs.
