Trials Dave Posted September 18, 2005 Report Share Posted September 18, 2005 i am going to buy an 04 pitbull frame. i currently have a d521 rim. as the chainstays are wider on the pitbull compared to a saracen mad i was wondering whether i will be able to set my brake up so that it actually reaches the rim (or so i dont have to pull the lever to the bar) because as we all know a d521 is quite a narrow rim? cheers guys Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Gavin Posted September 19, 2005 Report Share Posted September 19, 2005 Yeah a D521 will run on a pitbull, with a pad bodge, its quite fidley but cheaper than a new rim. i ran a bodge on my t-rex for about 6months. my brake worked fine (Y). i used four screws to hold old pad backings onto full brake pads. make sure the screws are countersunk though else ur pads dont fully recline. and keep checking them as they have a tendency to come loose - unless you use glue aswell! Danno Posted September 19, 2005 Report Share Posted September 19, 2005 (edited) I ran a 521 in a 04 Pitbull and it worked fine without any pad bodges, and it was with worn Koxx bloxx, the only thing was the lever did pull in pretty much to the handlebar, but it didn´t effect the performance of the brake, and a mavic rim is much better then any of the wider ´cheese´rims out there for grinds as the material is better. Zoo_Monkey Posted September 19, 2005 Report Share Posted September 19, 2005 thanks man! yea its a great ride im way chuffed with it, try it with the zoo riser bars and Zoo stem you wont be disapointed (the geometry dosnt realy suit flat bars i used to have planet x pro trials bars but they sucked) those pics are about a month old now - i just put on a hope mono hub and a KMC Kool chain. ill get some new ones up there soon! i highly recomend D521's and as i said before the only time you will have a prob with the rim width is if you have almost no brake pad left - the pads on my bike had been on for about a month in that pic and Zoo pads wear down realy fast. glad i could help (Y) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
