I've got the peleng myself. I'm pretty happy with it :)

Though i havn't used it that much. But it's built like a tank.

You have to adjust fokus and aperture on the lens manually though.

On the other side, it's a pretty cheap and long-lasting lens.

yea i no mikes got one, allthough joe did nothing but bad mouth it?

but thats joe hes a fanny?

Correct, he is a fanny.

I would reccomend the Peleng or the Zenitar, depending how fish you want. Maybe you're better off starting with the 16mm Zenitar, bit cheaper too. (Y)

Wideangle lens under £300 is easy, sigma 10-20mm.

Macro lens? Not a clue for Nikon!

Head over to fredmiranda.com and photography-on-the.net aswell as eBay to get some 2nd hand stuff, I've decided to scrap buying stuff new. :P

There's a couple of lens mounts for Nikons - I don't know what they are called, but the super-old ones (Pre-1980s I think) won't fit. But anything newer than that will - You'll have to look it up though. But yeah, the d50 can take lenses designed for film. The D40 can't take as big a selection.

I think the Peleng is a very... specialist lens. Although you pay less, you have to be aware of the work Mike does to his images before they're posted anywhere. You lose AF, so unless you can focus you have to use small apertures to compensate, pushing up ISO and so on... If you can stretch, the Sigma 15mm F2.8 is a stunning lens, certainly one of my favourites and OBM too. You keep AE and AF, and you can easily defish to get a rectalinear image.

Don't get me wrong, the Peleng can produce good images, but it takes knowledge of the lens and a desire to get images which display irregularities in colour and distortion. The Sigma is a more versatile lens as a result of producing a cleaner image.

For the wide angle, how wide angle do you want? Remember that 24mm on full frame is wide angle, so any 17mm lens is therefore wideangle on a crop body. Anything wider than that can have _unusual_ optical characteristics, and are usually dog slow. F5.6 at 20mm? On anything less than a bright day that'd kill your shutter speed!

Dave your such a tard lol

You make so many of these threads when you can just post in the random photo thread!

For wideangle, definatley the Sigma 10-20

For cheap fisheye go for pelang, for a better one like Chris said, the Siggy 15mm!! or if you can really afford it the Nikon 10.5 but there expencive.

Macro wise either the Tamron 90mm f2.8 or the Sigma 105mm f2.8, i've used the 105 a lot and it's really nice, remember those fly shots I posted and you said "how the hell do you get so close?" well they were taken with that lens.

its not a random photo thread thing though. It's a specific question, which he wants as many people to see as possibe, that may have previously looked in the random photo's thread and decided not to look in again as it holds no interest to them, and so would have never got to read his question....

OI OII

I only started one topic and it's quite popular.

I can see why Dave asked on here as there are more than enough people to advise but just don't see why he didn't ask in the already popular photography thread.

I was only joking when I said what a tard, don't jump off your horse. He knows I love him really
