  1. A fixed tensioner like the Gusset from tartybikes would be a simple, cheap solution though. I run one myself at the moment, it does gradually seem to slacken off though, but it's very easy to set up. The jocky wheel (plastic wheel on the tensioner) is quite wide so you don't really have to worry about chainline as you do with a rear mech. As someone has said you really need to get a chain tool to remove the extra links in the chain. Hope you get it sorted
  2. Nice pics - I like the first one of the gap.
  3. I know the feeling - I seem to have to true my wheel every 5 mins and now I've got a lazy piston in one side of my break. I don't think there's really a solution - just look at whats causing the problem, take your time and hopfully the troubles will pass. I often take a load of tools out with me so I can fine tune things on the ride.
  4. Hi, thanks for the replies - I meant to reply sooner but couldn't get on an XP PC. Yeah I think I'll get some new pads - I don't care how fast they wear, as long as they perform well. Although koxx reds are supposed to be good though? Is that safe? - I can imagine the disc shattering. I got a diamond cutting disc with the grinder, I could try that - don't want to slice through the rim though I do sometimes ride in the wet so smooth rim with tar's not the best option. I'll have to get something sorted out soon as I find riding with a good break so much easier. Cheers, John
  5. The break feels solid enough so I guess it doesn't need bleeding and I do use a booster. I think I'll have to try a new disc for the grinder or maybe some different pads - I'm pretty sure the problem is not enough friction between pads and rim. Untill then I'll have to pull the lever harder Cheers
  6. Might be obvious, but is this only trials drops? - ie. rigid bike with a flat landing Full suspension bikes landing on slopes can drop much further as the slope smooths out the landing. My biggest drop on my trials bike must be about 6 foot, more like 10 foot on my freeride bike.
  7. My new rims a tryall too though. My old rim was 2nd hand and probably an older model but both look the same.
  8. I've had koxx red pads for a while with a ground tryall rim. All seemed pritty good. I replaced my rim with a new one and ground it - it seemd good for a while (a couple of weeks), then performance dropped (didn't hold aswell + didn't squeak). I've re-ground the rim (and the pads) again and it worked well for about a day and then performance dropped again. Any ideas why this may be happening? - Could it be my grinder disc getting warn and not grinding very deep? The break pads are quite warn down but still have plenty of material left. Thanks for your help, John
  9. This wednesday the 4th? Can you ride there on weekdays - I thought it was only open on sundays but I don't really know? Don't think my manager will like it but i'll try to get the day off.
  10. You should probably ring and check they are open before going - I think there only open 10am - 4pm on sundays. If you go on a weekend I wouldn't mind coming along, looks like an amazing place to ride.
  11. Meant to reply sooner but I can only post from my boss's PC (only seem to be able to post from windows XP). I'll be there - if I don't break my bike this evening. I've got my new Pro2 rear wheel build from tarty
  12. Since Trials forum changed a couple of months ago i've found that I can only post from a PC that has Windows XP. If I try from another PC with windows 2000 then internet explorer generates errors and shuts down on the page where you would enter your reply or topic. I can view the forum fine just can't post. Anyone else had this problem? I'ts annoying as I can only post from the boss' PC at work.
  13. Wholemeal bread is probably more healthy than brown - I think brown bread is white bread with caramel added (I could well be wrong though). I've been getting through loads of bread myself. You may want to checkout the salt levels as most bread seems to have 0.5 grams per slice - a lot IMO. I've been trying to eat more healthy myself these days - It's shocking the amount of salt in somethings (ie. one sandwitch can easily have way more salt than a bag of salt'n vinigar crisps). I've been looking for bread with less salt - anyone know of any?
  14. Sorry I probably can't make it - got a friends birthday party to go to. Could probably make it afterwards, I might be a bit tipsy though Or maybe ride earlier in the day?
  15. If it's Leicester I'll be there. Never done an "all night ride" before - I'll probably fall asleep at some point
  16. I should be there. I've not riden for a while since I cracked a rib when I fell off and went face first onto a wall . It still aches a bit but seems loads better
  17. Just thought I'd say thanks for the advice. She wants to meet me later - so seems like it's all cool. I was probably just worring - I'm a bit of a fool with these things
  18. Thanks - I think you are probably right. I should wait a few days at least as I do sort of feel like I shouldn't keep ringing her. She did say that we should watch a film when we meet up next week so perhaps there's hope. Thanks again
  19. Well there's a girl I really like - We met up last thursday and had a few drinks with some other friends and went out on saturday night. We really seemed to get on well (or so I thought) but I didn't try to tell her how I feel about her because we've not had much time alone together and I don't want her to think I'm rushing her. Since Saturday I've really wanted to see her and spend some time alone with her so I can tell her how I feel and Ive phoned/emailed/texted each day to see if she wants to meet up but she's been busy and I spoke to her at work just now and she said she's probably not about untill next week. I'm confused as to weather she likes me or not - It was her who first asked me to go for a drink so I thought from the start that she did like me but as I've not seen her for a few days I'm starting to fear she just wants to be friends (fine by me if that's all she wants but I hate not knowing). It is possible that she thinks I don't like her because I have'nt told her - she maybe took me not wanting to rush her as me not being interested. I hope not. I don't want to wait untill next week to see how she feels and so I was thinking of ringing her tonight and telling her how I feel but I'd rather tell her face to face. Also I don't want to keep ringing her (don't want to seem too desperate or pestering her) so I'm not sure if I should ring again or just wait for her to contact me as I've asked her to ring me when she's free. It's the not knowing that I hate - If she's not intersted then I'd like to ring another girl I like but not untill I know that she's not interested. I probably will ring her as I don't want to wait till next week as I'll feel a bit on edge untill I know. If anyone hase any advice that would be appreciated. Cheers
  20. I'll see if I can make it - not 100% sure. Would be cool to ride Notts again, not ridden there for years.
  21. I reckon if you are riding on the edge of your ability then neither street or natural is more difficult. I agree that (for example) a gap on natural maybe harder than the same size gap on street because of the uneven surfaces but you could find obsticals that you struggle with on both. I also agree that if you are used to street, natural seems harder than you might expect. Tunni/CLS etc. obviosly have some amazing skills and I'm sure they could do well at natural if they tried.
  22. Most street obsticals are ugly concrete structures anyway. They look horrible with or without a few scratches. I think it's cool to turn the boring concrete jungle into a playground (for example a neglected industrial estate). Riding on private property is a different matter and I think people should ride according to their own concience. I won't ride on someone's garden wall but I will ride on the bank's wall. Riding street will always annoy judgemental people, and as I've said before I wish people would check their hands are clean before they point their fingers.
  23. My best present so far has been an angle grinder so now my brake works Should be getting a made to measure freediving wetsuit so I can start diving early in the year.
  24. Sorry - Don't know what the difference is between the two grinds, but I just got a bosh angle grinder the other day and just quickly went over my tryall rim (I'm guessing it's a lightish grind) with the standard disc. The results are great - really good breaking with koxx reds. As for how long it'll last, I'm not sure, been good for a few days so far. Sorry I can't be of more help, but if you've never ground a rim before then just give it a go, it worked for me. Just don't overdo it at first.
  25. Any Leicester guys getting the train - What time? I'll meet you at Leicester station if thats cool.
