I'll see if I can make it - got a few things I should do though, but I've not ridden Loughborough before. I'll most probably give Kris a bell if I can't get there for 11 ish.

Hmmm, I'l have to give that a try as I sidehop to the 'wrong' side and I'm not very good at it. It feels awkward to side hop to my right though (left foot foward). Does hopping to your back foot side really make it that much easier? Cheers

Ryan Leech. Because he does a lot to promote Trials and doesn't seem arrogant. I like his style too.

It's a shame there seems to be so many racists on T.F. I think in some ways PC has gone too far with things like this and it back fires and turns people against being PC and in some ways being PC is good, so it has a negative effect. I don't like most religions simply because they seem to discorage free-thinking and try to tell people how to live and what to think. Also in most religions, questioning the religion it'self is not allowed. Having said that, I don't hate or dislike anyone simply because of their religion and I'm not in the least bit offended by someone saying happy Christmas to me. Open mindedness is the way foward IMO 'Merry Christmas' to you all.

Does Any One Have Any Other Hobbies Apart From Biking
Rebelistic replied to karl's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
My other hobbies are: Freediving - I love it, it's like flying Music - I make Reggae and Dub with a few friends. Freeride. Video games. -
Saracen Exile Onza T-Rex (old model) Echo Pure - The best I've rode yet.
-
1) I can't really do much 'big' stuff but when I try I just go for it in the safest way. I try and breathe slowly and calmly before I go for it. 2) Not being a very good rider is a good excuse Do you think adrenaline(sp?) is good or bad? - I find it makes me shake a bit so I suppose it could make you less accurate but maybe it speeds up your reactions.
-
I think my bigest problem was and still is, that everything is so difficult. People make trials look so easy but even after years of practice I still feel like I'm not very good at it. By comparison freeride seems easy (but perhaps more scary).

I think it's a really good idea. Maybe easier as a smaller event(s). I like the idea of a massive event in London but the organisation would be very tricky and there would be less chance of success. In Leicester this last summer there was a biking event at Bead Island park (BMX and Dirt jump mainly) and I rode on the BMX ramps for a bit. Cyclemagic (the charity that recondition old bikes for disabled people(I think)) were there and it seemd like a good event. If it was done again it could have some trials obsticles and as many trials riders as possible. Perhaps riders could get sponsorship individually for the charity of their choice or have one charity for the whole event? Maybe the sponsorship should be just for taking part in the event? Still I think it is a good Idea but maybe should be done on a smaller local scale first, before trying to make it really big.

You just watch a video of a car driving along from the perspective of the driver. You just have to click the mouse when you see something that would cause you to take action (change speed or direction, check mirrors etc.). You are rated according to how fast you respond to the hazard.

In my kitchen with loads of bike bits. It's ok as long as I don't confuse cooking oil with brake fluid Does anyone have any tips on keeping bikes secure while you travel. I have a hatchback car with a bike rack on the boot. I'd love to take my freeride bike and my trials bike on trips but I just don't dare leave one on the rack while I ride the other.

Yeah, interesting topic. So re-cycling paper is bad and anodizing(sp) is really bad? - I didn't know that. I agree that trials has a very small impact on the environment compared to other industries, however I do prefer to buy parts made in the UK if possible - more to support UK manufactoring. I remain in two minds about personal impact on the environment. I think it is important to set a good example and every bit helps - but if America (+China Russia etc.) is not stopped then we are doomed no matter what we do. To re-cycle and live 'green' takes a lot of time/money/effort. Perhaps that time/money/effort would be better invested in trying to make the worst polluters stop. If you live 'green' but don't make others do the same then when the environment is f**ked will you smile and say 'we're all f**ked but at least it wasn't my fault' ? Can the world really be made to live sustainably? - I'd like to think so, but I doubt it somehow. Hope this makes sense

Just practice. You'll find your balance and control improving all the time.

Yeah, WTF was that long story about?

Oh yeah! I hate it being dark when I get home from work. When I get in I feel like going to bed. It just takes more mental effort to go out again for the evening. I think it's called 'seasonal depression' or something like that.

That's good, I've fancied riding Bradgate park for a while but assumed I'd get thrown out or shot by the rangers if I did -

Looking After Cycle Shops (support The Sport!)
Rebelistic replied to skuzzbucket's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
None of my LBS's stock any trials parts, the closest shop I could buy from was supercycles. Now their not open as a shop, I've been buying from Tartybikes. I do think it's important to support small/local companies if possible but I also think it's worth supporting Tartybikes as they seem to offer good service and are trials specific. Although I have an echo frame, I have a fair few Hope parts and Middleburn cranks and these are made in the UK so I'm glad to be supporting UK manufactoring (sp?) as industry here seems to be dying. -
I wear dainese knee/shin pads whenever I ride, I don't notice them, they seem to fit really well and allow full leg movement. I've had some painfull knee and shin injuries before and now I just don't dare ride without shin pads at least.

Who Lisens To Music While Riding?
Rebelistic replied to Tylerlovesalex's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Same here, I'd like to listen to music while I ride but I don't want to wear headphones as I like to be alert to my surroundings. -
I've been looking at camcorders myself recently but I'm still undecided on what to get. Panasonic seem to do a few good ones starting at about £300 ish for a 3 chip camera (3 chip is supposed to be better quality than single chip). I would go for miniDV rather than DVD or hard drive recorders because from what I've heard miniDV is uncompressed and still the most 'tried and tested' format. Both DVD and hard drive recorders compress the recording as it goes on so you are limited to the compression that they use. This is just what I've heard, I'm still looking into camcorders myself so I'm not 100% sure. Try doing a google search for camcorder reviews. Hope this helps
