2 months lol. magnesium pedals from Tarty (forget what sort). Think I'll go back to V8s or something next time. Most of the pins ripped out damaging the threads!

Yeah to me it seems like in order to eat healthy here you have to make it yourself. It seems pretty hard to get healthy 'off the shelf' food - most things are full of salt, fat and sugar. Topic should probably be moved to 'chit chat'.

Classic - I dusted off my old megadrive the other day. They don't make 'em like they used to!
-
I've not read the whole thread but is the 360 in HD as I enjoy playing games on my projector in HD. IMO it make quite a big difference particularly in racing games for example where you're looking for the small detail in the distance.

I've found the digging in to be a bit of a pain with my pro 2. I've just swapped from a standard gear from a cassette to a wide base sort. When I tried to put the hope metal spacers back on the hub I found that the 'digging in' had caused the splines to be a bit rough and so it was quite hard to get the spacers over them. I'd advise a wide base type sprocket.

I've hit my face twice this year once on concrete, once on mud. After that, wearing a fullface lid did cross my mind but I don't think I could stand the extra weight. Even when I hit the concrete wall I didn't do any damage except a graze on my chin. I was glad to be wearing a helmet though as I sort of went head first onto the wall - felt a bit dizzy after. I think it's really up to you and If you do more BMX style riding (eg. bunny hopping at speed down two sets of stairs) it could be a good idea to wear a full face lid. I've seen some videos of BMX accidents where a full face lid would have saved a lot of pain. For trials though, I think it's not really worth the loss of mobility.

Thanks, thats really helpfull. I'll give BT a ring. I'll have to check out freeola.com and bethere.co.uk - perhaps there's a website that compares different providers I'll google it in a bit. Cheers,

Games I really like at the moment (on PS3): Virtua Fighter 5 Ninja Gaiden The Darkness Motorstorm Streetfighter compilation(PS2) Games that I'm playing that are a bit crap really: Sonic the Hedgehog (the new one) - Never been as good as the 2D megadrive ones IMO. Why can't Sega mke it really good? Harry Potter - A bit dull so far

Hi I've just found out I can stay in my flat for another year so I'm gonna get broardband internet. I'm not sure what this really involves. I currently have a phone line that is not connected (the line is physically there but not active). I gather broadband can be sent through a normal phone line now (ie. you don't have to have a seperate cable like for cable TV) so do I just contact a broardband provider and pay them and they will activate my phone line and give me a modem or do BT need to activate the line first? I have a laptop with a wireless network thingy (can get internet in hotels etc.) so I guess I need a wirless modem? I would also like a normal phone line too as I currently spend a fortune on my mobile! Can anyone give me any advice or recommend a good value service provider - I'm after something pretty fast with no download limit. Thanks for your help, John.

I've had two tryall rims and both times found maxxis tyres a real pain to fit (really good once fitted). My tyre levers just bent too. The only way I've found that works for me is to use two kitchen knives instead of tyre levers - the knives do bend a little but it works. The knives are thinner than tyre levers and so easier to fit and remove and also stronger. The knifes have to be fairly blunt. Perhaps this is a stupid way and there is an easier way? Fitting tyres onto my old onza rim is so much easier.

Wish you all the best! - Looks like there's plenty of riders there. I'll probably see you on a group ride sometime. John,
-
Nice! Do you know what dimensions the stem has? - How does it ride? I've just put a fairly high stem on my pure (145 x 25 I think) - looks a bit odd perhaps but rides pretty well. I'll try and put some pics of mine up when I get round to it.
-
Cheers, I've ordered a longer one with more rise. Looks like I ordered the wrong one in the first place 105x5 was not what was recommended! I'll see how I get on.
-
Cheers, Yeah I've already put quite a few spacers on - the bars are still on the low side though and beacase of the head angle the more spacers I put on the bars move closer to me, if you see what I mean. I do Think it needs a new stem, just not sure what as I picked the 105x5 based on the chart on tartybikes for this BB rise.
-
Hi, I've just got my new 07 Pure built up and it seems pretty good however I'm unsure about my stem. I just fitted a 105mm 5 degree rise (I think) stem and I think my bars feel too low. The bike has a BB rise of 35mm so I guess I need one of those long high rise stems to give me more room. I've just switched from my old Pure with a zero BB rise and my lower back aches a bit after a few hours riding. Can anyone recommend a good stem for this style of frame? Cheers,

Cheers, Yeah I do have two ISIS tools but neither fit the echo as part of the axel is too fat. I've ordered one from tarty so that should do the job, my LBS only have the ones I already have (park tool and shimano).
-
Right yesterday I got my bike parts to build up, only to find that my current bb tool doesn't work as the axel is too fat to go through it. Can anyone recommend one that would fit. It's not the echo external it's just the normal echo isis BB. I always seem to hit problems like this. Cheers, John
-
I fitted it this morning - mallet and block of wood. Was easier than I expected and I don't seem to have crushed the bearings. Now I just have to wait for my other bits to arrive and I can get the rest of the bike built up. Cheers for the advice
-
Yeah its a deng (echo) headset I think. Would I be likley to crush the bearings if I tap it in with a mallet and peice of wood? I expect it'd be ok as long as I don't hit it too hard.
-
Cheers, I'll do it myself then as my LBS would take ages!
-
Right I've got a new frame (echo pure 07) and a new headset. Do I have to take it to a local bike shop to fit or can I just whack it in with a mallet? I think I've heard that you need to use a headset press so I probably need to get the LBS to do it? Cheers, John. Edit: Just noticed the WIKI guide - sorry should have checked before posting!

Hi, I'm also a Leicester rider. I often ride around the Victoria park/London road area. My email is johnstuff@hotmail.co.uk Also check the rides/locations section of the forum as group rides are sometimes put on there. Cheers, John

Just orderd an 07 pure, short version. Can't wait!

I rekon the only moral issue is if one person is taking advantage of the other.

I always thought that was a slightly 'funny' one. I think the idea is to reduce the numbers of stray animals as there are already lots of unwanted dogs. The stray dogs probably have miserable lives and so by neutering(sp?) dogs there will be less strays and so less suffering. It's probably a 'lesser of two evils' type thing. But yeah you could well argue that neutering a dog is unethical to the dog. PETA is an american organisation - I'm currently undecided on how 'good' they are. The peta kills animals thing is run by a guy who is head of KFC or something like that so I'd take it with a pinch of salt. I asked PETA about them killing animals and they said that they basically have to put a lot 'down' as they have been so badly treated that they are put down to end their misery.
