  1. Might be about if you're riding in Thanet, or a reasonably short train ride away somewhere in east kent... Also, a few of us are riding Ramsgate tomorow (Sunday) if that tickles your fancy.
  2. Yeah!!! That's how to open a video! I was thinking it was just a bad mutha street video until about 2/3 through when it suddenly went a bit trialsy... bonus. To be honest in a video like that it's probably the mtb street bits that inspire me the most anyway, even when there's no trials that's the stuff that gets me out on my trials bike. How old is he? And are those 26" wheels? Legend legend legend for posting it
  3. Your mum... Sorry! Couldn't help myself! I ride stock. EDIT: In fact to qualify that further: A sizeable part of me is strongly tempted by the prospect of 24" wheels, because they would probably ride brilliantly for most stuff (i.e. the fun stuff) and they're so damn cool, but another part of me is mysteriously wary and tells me that deep down it's not the right thing to do. I have no idea why. But I already own some 26" wheels and I'm poor so it's not going to change.
  4. Initially my heart sank as I realised I was watching a mod natural vid but it was awesome! That guy has bare style!
  5. Looks lovely. A certain element of jealousy is present. And keep the seat up there if that's where it feels good!
  6. Looks cool, although I think if you changed the tyres it would look better with black and it would probably have a lot more grip too! I'm not a fan of those Hot Ss, I had one for a while.
  7. I realise this video is a year old but I've never seen it before and it's quality riding so thanks again for the youtubeage

Normally I wouldn't bother commenting but since you asked... I have to say it was a bit boring, sorry. You are clearly a pretty good rider in that you can gap far etc but that doesn't make it a good video. There aren't really any interesting moves or lines, so it's kind of doomed from the start no matter how well you edit the video. In fact I thought the editing was fine although shame about the frame rate. On the plus side I quite liked the big gap down the stairs and it was less boring than it would have been if it lasted 3 minutes.
  9. Does anyone actually still ride trials round here?! I might change my mind and go earlier in the morning cos then Gilly will come before he has work... Or I might just ride Broadstairs on my lonesome...
  10. Cool, thanks. I had to look up what a pigeon was... I'll probably end up having a go on someone's one day so I guess I'll find out. Sounds like I can live without for now though
  11. Get the front wheel involved? Stop using the brakes? (see Akrigg thread...) Just make some crazy neverending lines with the moves you have?
  12. Yeah pretty cool, some of the lines were great!
  13. Not the 26" WITH SEAT market!!! hint hint
  14. Nobody has any 24ness to share with me?
  15. I changed from my Onza cage pedals after they made a few horrific gouges in my shins... I got V8s and they do far less shin damage. They have also proved far more durable.
  16. Hi everybody, got home from uni the other day so obviously it's time to ride Ramsgate. Sunday seems like a good idea since everything is usually shut and the weather looks ok so far. Anyone interested? Be great to see some Kentish trials again, all are welcome. I'm thinking like 11ish down the seafront somewhere. Never mind, maybe next time
  17. Also, cos I need some bike in my life and the crashes from trials tend not to be as bad as bmx crashes...
  18. Yeah man liked the video and liked the tune
  19. + cos I love having some good exercise (without resorting to something boring like a gym) + it's just so much fun and I am addicted
  20. What would the difference in feel be between a 26" bike and a 24" bike that had the same setup and geometry? For example, a stock with wheelbase 1040, 385 chainstays, 73 head angle, +10BB compared to an Inspired 24", with the same bars, stem, cranks etc. How different would it be to ride, and in what ways? The question is immaterial since I definitely can't afford a 24" but I'm just interested.
  21. Yuck yuck yuck I hate loud brakes! Mine are usually quiet, and when they're not it's so annoying I tend to try and avoid using them...
  22. From my experiences: Years of trying without much obvious progression, then it just started working. I kept trying the same without learning anything new that I was aware of, and it just suddenly improved a lot. As for body position, mine is quite different from when I am hopping, my arms are much straighter and my arse is down nearer to the back wheel for manuals. And I find if I use the brake at all it suddenly goes very unstable. So just cover it for emergencies, and get used to never using it and just bend your legs if you're going too far back instead. And yeah definitely dream about manuals! To me the sensation of being in a manual is like the equivalent of being able to fly...
  23. Wrong... V8s last ages, why would you change them?
  24. I'm loving the way pretty much everyone gives a different answer! I'm guessing that will make it really easy to decide... Anyway, Surly Singleator worked fine for me, used it for about 3 years, hit it a few times and only had to replace the spring once.
