  1. You should save up for the possibility of a large tax bill at the year end! Unles your part time job is not legit and is cash in hand, you WILL have to pay any tax you havent paid at the year end!
  2. £15,000 a year, go you! But how come you can earn £5,700 a year tax free as opposed to everyone else to whom the LEL at £4,895 applies? Something to do with you being at university?
  3. This guy knows what he's talking about. However you will also have to pay national insurance on anything over the lower earnings threashhold of 4895 at 11%, which he forgot to take into account. This would be 11% of 11,615 = 1,277.65. So the total deductions from your salary that you would pay if you were to work the whole year would be 2,304.50 + 1,277.65 = 3,582.15. Your net salary for the year, or 'bring home amount', would therefore be 12,927.85. As the guy said these are all last years tax figures. You will pay slightly less this year as the threasholds will have been raised in line with inflation. I don't know the new figures as my firm hasn't got around to issuing new tax cards for this year. It is also true about the emergency tax band. But you will be able to claim it back, so that the amount of tax you pay in the year equals what I calculated above. Just think of it as a savings account, where you don't earn the interest, the tax man does What you need to make sure you do is inform both your employers of the other jobs. If they don't know about them, they might both give you your tax allowances for the year, and then when it comes to the year end you won't have paid enough tax, and could be landed with a hefty tax bill to pay (£1,000+) and if you can't afford it, it starts acquiring interest. 4. For anyone who didn't get a ticket: They're releasing more later on in the week apparently.
  5. Wow, some tickets just went on ebay for £430 for a pair for the weekend in Leeds. Would anyone be tempted to sell theirs?
  6. The law has changed in recent years way in favor of the bankruptee. In order for your dad to have started up his new business he will have had to wait I think 3 years under current legislation, and then had to have got permission from the courts. He will have found it harder to get credit no doubt about it, but that didn't stop him from succeeding. In the funerals business also, he does not need much credit with his suppliers becasue he wont have many inputs. The worst thing about bankruptcy from a personal point of view is if you fail to get the credit that everyone needs... A mortguage. Unless you wanna rent for the rest of your life (think of all that money wasted ) then avoid bankruptcy. £100,000 for a house doesn't come easy, and if you want to borrow it, you gotta look trustworthy. Renting may be cheaper in the short term, but if you get a 25 year mortgage, and keep moving it around to get the best introductory rates, you can pay it off in 19 years, so it's definately the better option.
  7. I can't fault o2, the customer service has always been spot on, and they are the cheapest around for a text-heavy user. That said they have no good gprs packages. I've got mine with o2 online though, and it's a separate support number. Maybe they put more priority on the online customers? I know i get more free texts/picture messages than any other o2 user, by about 300/month. Don't go with orange if you want customer support. Take it from someone who's dealt with both, if you think o2 is bad my friend, it's f**king hard to deal with how pathetic and uselessly shite the incompetent f**kers at orange are.
  8. He's proabbyl claimed off insurance, meaning they clock the phone by the IEMI number. This identifies the phone, and blocks it by that, so the phone bacomes useless. There is no way to change it on most phones. Sorry to piss on your bonfire.
  9. I don't have much first hand experience with this kind of finance, but, what about these companies that promise to consolidate your monthly payments and lower them so you pay them off over a longer period, regardless of your low credit rating? Your debts are on credit cards you say, so they will lap you up, because the debt is repayable on demand. Therefore they don't have to pay any more interest because they will pay them all off in one go and let you pay them instead. Ocean finance springs to mind as one such company. But anyone who watches TV will know that there are 10's of them advertising, so I wouldn't worry too much either mate, as you are obviously not alone. And once you're operating in the green again, LIVE TO YOUR MEANS! Can't afford a car? Don't get one. Shop at Aldi, etc. I'm sure you've had the lectures many a time before! Good luck Mark
  10. The problem lies with how the forum is funded. Relying on the one revenue stream to keep it afloat means that the forum's senior members like tom and danny need to aggrssively protect this revenue stream. The result is an unhealthy brown nosing of the advertisers. It is unhealthy because danny and tom are at the mercy of the advertisers. As has already been said, koxx advertise in the news section. This would not get action taken against it, as they pay for a banner, even though this is not strictly the rules. Even though they pay for a banner, they are not supposed to advertise in threads. But dan and tom would be stupid to piss koxx off, because they provide a lot of the income. The forum is large now. I am member number 111 and I remember when it was small. But things have changed over the years, and in my opinion, the admins have done a pretty bad job of realising the potential of the rapidly expanding user base, especially with regards to generating revenue to fund the forums upkeep. One idea I think would be a more multi-tiered forum. Currently there is new members, the main forums, and then seniors. There are no subscription forums. The for sale/wanted is a very useful tool for getting the best price for your bike bits, I would pay £1 to list my bike in there if I was selling it. It makes sense. The idea of a multi-tiered forum where you pay for certain bits would need a lot of thinking about, but it's not my place, I don't know all the statistics of the forum. It's danny and tom's job. I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't considered something already though. Another simpler thing is... Where are the paypal donation buttons? If they're there I can't see them!
  11. St. Mothers day. Hope you havn't forgot!
  12. You mean you're not making breakfast in bed?
  13. Saturday is not considered a working day by banks.
  14. Have you figured out the answer using google yet? If not post back and I'll answer.
  15. Are religeous beliefs compatible with half the stuff that goes on in night clubs? Wouldn't it be hypocritical to say you are being religeous when out binge drinking and coveting your neighbours girlfriend? I dunno, I think places like that would be better if everyone was a little more 'religeous' (i'm talking about fighting and stuff) but my reaction to the presence of religeon on a night out would be 'wrong time wrong place mate'.
  16. Buy a 'simplex d' book from wh smith or whatever to record your finances. Pick a year end (I reccommend 30th April 2007 as being your first year end) and record everything in the simplex d till that date comes along. Then give me a ring and get your accounts done
  17. Rent a bouncy castle. Man those things are so much fun.
  18. It was probably removed by some pussy moderator on the grounds that it objectifys women. However if it were 'nice men with bikes' it wouldn't be removed. So the act of removing this thread is itself sexist. Carry on pics of nice ladies!
  19. I don't see how you would be able to switch channels using the tv? You will still need to tell the ntl box what channel to display using your remote... because it's not like all the different channels are being transmitted down the wire at different frequencies... I don't think there is a way to tell it to change channel through the aerial either. But it is still the best way.
  20. She obviously should have been spending less time concentrating on the road and more time watching her speedometer! I share andyroos POV.
  21. You walk up 2 a girl yeah And you're all like, "hey baby" "I'm no Fred Flintstone but I can make your Bedrock" And she's like
  22. f**k me if i'm wrong, but you wan't a shag don't you?
  23. But what the hell is he trying to prove anyway? That everything associated with the terrorists is linked to the number 11? Did the terrorists plan it that way then? So the Arabic guys contemplating possible places to bomb are sitting at home thinking, mmm, can't bomb London, it's got nothing to do with the number 11, let's think of somewhere else. I think this guy's cracked it.
  24. I wish I had never fallen in love/and or broke up with that girl. Other girls are fun and I have a good time but there's always a feeling that I've lost someone special. Then again I know I felt like that before I got with her about the girl before that, and that only lasted about a year so i'm just stupid! Anyway yeah, like Bongo said, apart from the above every experience in my life I've gained from, and enjoyed. I tend to always do what I think's right and never regret anything as a result. And always put effort into things, so I can look back at stuff I've achieved.
