  1. Because it's working In all seriousness.....some hubs are quieter than others. My opinion is that if it works just leave it well alone, if it skips then service it Edit: the spring CAN be stretched to increase the noise, or a thinner lube can be used. Have you owned this hub from new? If so it may well have ringdrive grease in it, instead of tri-flow / 10w car oil.
  2. Because raked forks offer a long wheelbase with a shorter reach?Ssimilar to a slack headangle.
  3. Brilliant brakes....coupled with the right lever ( Sd7, fr5, xtr, ultimate etc..) and the right housing ( odyssey linear slic etc ) and good pads ( avid standard ) they can outperform or equal most set-ups. I run an old style BB7 silver road caliper with mountain internals, on a 185mm roundagon rotor, SD7 lever and Odyssey linear slic cable. It outperforms all the Hope mono trials that I've used, and a fair few magura set-ups. I reckon I'd change to a vee if I had the mounts, due to the performance and the weight loss though . Its worth bearing in mind that all types of trials brakes, be it HS, vee or disc can work admirably when set-up well. The Avid bb5's are another good choice, as are the Hayes mx2's as cable brakes go.
  4. I agree with the jist of what you;re saying...however having used all the standard magura pads, Koxx bloxx pads, plaz pads, heatsink pads etc I've come to the conclusion that they are superior, probably beacuse they are designed with trials in mind. I'm sure most of the forum will agree with me on this point. It's not a case of me telling him what to get, we're all merely providing opinions and experiences....and i gave my input It also comes down to rim surface etc, the blacks and especially koolstops do perform fairly well with tar on a clean dry smooth rim, although it's hard to find a pad that won't perform similarly under such conditions. Rowan Johns did however run the blacks on the rear, but as he's gone brakeless now I'm sure you can understand why he didn't need the performance.
  5. oh god knows....i bought that whole RB lever for £20 a while back] Cheers dude
  6. Basically, few mates need new chains so was going to put in a bulk order for around 5/6 once I'd found a cheap place. Supercycles sell the "onza koolchain" a rebranded kmc for a measly £6. So before i put in a £30 odd order, is it cool to buy from them?
  7. The black / red / green magura pads offer very poor performance when compared with modern trials specific pads. Also, no images in sigs dude.
  8. 95% sure they're 1.37" x 24tpi......
  9. Holy BB drop.... heh T-birds ride fairly nice, but I'd recommend just buying a complete second hand t-pro If i were you
  10. looks ace....same geo as a limey 3 I do believe and it's conqueror
  11. Truth... my vote goes with coustellier pads in heatsink backings Been using them for 2 years now
  12. Looking good...ridings improved for sure
  13. Yeh i was quite annoyed about that the weave goes the wrong way too...I'll have a new up to date rendering tomorrow *with bolts* for anyone that wants to see
  14. It's a fairly cheap hub to start off with...so I'd just replace it to be honest. Something like an Echo TR or if you can find it an Onza T-master hub would be ideal
  15. I'd like to point out...that I only lathed up the barrel and piston NOT the clamp or blade Cheers for the comments though peoples... and to pingu...ride asap!
  16. I'd say heat it right up then bend it back extremely gently. It'll be safer with one missing tooth than one that might direct the chain off the cog.
  17. Your front wheel was single-walled by me. I estimated it saved around 90g?
  18. Feckin keeeeeen riding, lush style and lush bike Really good dude, now i just need to catch up
  19. Grinder...file...done. Did mine in 3/4 hour. Silly idea using a CNC mill for it though, would take you forever and cost you easily twice the price of a rim i reckons.
  20. 1100, +55, 375, 72 i think... 145 x 25 should be fine
  21. They do make some decent stuff though...DJ wise anyway i think
  22. That's because the Evo mounts are massively offset inwards, forcing the pads into the rim.
